Man Fined $525 And Fired From Job After Failing To Pay For Soda Refill
A South Carolina man says he plans to appeal after being fined over $500 and losing his job because he failed to pay for a soda refill.

A South Carolina man has been fined $525 and lost his job on a construction site at a hospital after he went back for a refill of soda.
Lewis was having lunch at the VA Medical Center cafeteria in Charleston and went to refill his drink.
However, refills cost 89 cents, so Christopher Lewis was handed a federal fine for theft of government property when he started to walk away, WISTV reported.
Hospital administration said there are signs informing customers the refills are not free, but Lewis said he did not see any.
“As I was filling my cup up, I turned to walk off and a fella grabbed me by the arm and asked me was I going to pay for that, and I told him I wasn’t aware that I had to pay for that,” Lewis told the TV station.
When he tried to pay the 89 cents then, he was told he wasn’t allowed. He also lost his job because of the theft.
Lewis says he plans to appeal the fine.
This sounds like they were just looking for a reason to fire him if you ask us.

According to NY Daily News:
A woman who shot and killed her two young grandsons before committing suicide last year left a note to the boys’ parents saying they did not deserve to have the children, according to a police report.
The report, obtained by The Associated Press through a Freedom of Information request, suggests a possible motive for the first time and sheds new light on her mental health problems: The grandmother, Debra Denison, had a history of conflict with the boys’ mother and had attempted suicide a half dozen times before.
Denison, 47, picked up 2-year-old Alton Perry and 6-month-old Ashton Perry at a day care in North Stonington on Feb. 26, 2013, and was supposed to take them home for a birthday party but instead drove to a nearby lake where they were found shot to death after a frantic search.
In addition to a suicide note to her husband, Denison left a note addressed to the boy’s parents, Jeremy and Brenda Perry. Denison was Brenda Perry’s mother.
“The note stated among other things that Brenda and Jeremy did not deserve to have the children and Debra wanted them to feel the loss of a child,” state police Detective David Lamoureux wrote in a report on Oct. 22.
It’s bad enough she killed those innocent children, but she didn’t have to leave such an evil note.

Detroit Father Bites Principal For Denying Of Son Field Trip
The father of a child in Detroit who was denied the chance to attend a school field trip is now under investigation after biting the school principal during a dispute over the field trip.

A Detroit man was arrested after doling out some biting criticism of his child’s principal.
According to prosecutors, 34-year-old Keron Wilson went to Cooke Elementary School, Monday morning, on the city’s northwest side, wanting to know why his child wouldn’t be allowed to go on a school field trip. The school’s principal, Principal Philip Van Hooks, offered his explanation, but Wilson apparently wasn’t buying it.
That’s when Wilson allegedly became angry and assaulted the 40-year-old principal, punching him and biting him on the forearm.
Wilson was scheduled to be arraigned in 36th District Court Thursday afternoon on a charge of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor.
He could spend up to one year in jail if convicted.
It should never get this serious. SMH.

Astros prospect Delino DeShields Jr. ended up in the hospital after taking a fastball to the face Friday night.
The aftermath of the beaning was shared in a grotesque Twitter photo.
DeShields Jr., whose father Delino DeShields Sr. had a 13-year big league career with five clubs, is the seventh-ranked prospect in the Astros’ minor-league system.
The son of former major leaguer Delino DeShields (above) is recovering after getting hit in the face.
The 21-year-old center fielder, who was the Astros first-round pick in the 2010 first-year player draft, walked off the field under his own power, MLB.com reported. He was struck on the right side of his face in the seventh inning of the Corpus Christi Hooks’ game in Frisco, Texas.

New Study Links Online Hate Groups To Racist Murders

According to a report released Thursday by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a non-profit civil rights organization, there has been a developing online trend of posters on online hate forums being “disproportionately responsible” for mass killings and racist crime.
A community of “White Nationalists,” Stormfront describes itself as “the voice of the new, embattled White minority.”
Users of the website were responsible for over 100 murders in the last five years, claim researchers.
Past visitors include Wade Michael Page, an American veteran who killed six people in a mass shooting at a Sikh Temple in 2012. Another was Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian extremist who killed 77 people in a shooting spree at a youth summer camp in 2011.
“It has been a magnet for the deadly and deranged,” said Heidi Beirich, author of the report.
