How do you fire someone for trying to help those in need?
According to ABC News:
A veteran Fox executive who used her company email account to plan aid for loved ones of the missing Malaysian airplane’s passengers has been fired.
Darlene Tipton, who was vice president of standards and practices for the Fox Cable Networks Group, said Saturday she had wanted to arrange swift financial aid to families and other loved ones, sparing them lengthy court fights. She said she began by emailing Sarah Bajc, an American whose boyfriend, Philip Wood, was a passenger on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and who has made frequent TV appearances since the plane’s March 8 disappearance.
Fox spokesman Scott Grogin said Tipton’s “conduct and communications” violated company policy. Citing privacy concerns, he declined to discuss particulars, but he said, “As soon as we became aware, we took appropriate steps.” He confirmed that Tipton has left the company.
She plans to sue Fox for wrongful termination, said her husband, Ken Tipton, a writer and producer.
He said the idea for the fundraising effort stemmed from his Los Angeles hospital stay last month, shortly after the plane disappeared. He said that while he was under medication he had hallucinations of being with the plane’s passengers and the power of his visions spurred him and his wife to try to help.
“She wanted to do it because it could be done,” he said. “So why not try?”
Hopefully, she takes them to the cleaners in her lawsuit.

Rapper Diamond recently chatted with The Breakfast Club, and proceeded to throw her former flame Scrappy and his mama under the slander bus. Diamond reveals that in her past relationship with Lil Scrappy, he was a monster to her:
“He was mentally abusive, physically abusive. We fought, like you ain’t beatin’ my a**. Yeah, he got some issues. Some demons, he needs some help.”
She also says Scrappy was bad with money:
“He has bad spending problems. I think you, you know, people go through phases. I think we’re better off as friends. I don’t want to try to continue to be in a relationship and we end up not liking each other; hating each other. I just want people to know we’re not together.”
Diamond then claims she had to put a condo for Momma Dee in her name because her credit was so bad but got sick of Scrappy and his mom ruining her credit:
“I got his mother an apartment—that she trashed and messed up my credit at one point in time, terrorized. I co-signed for her a condo.
“They was using our names for ratings. I had a meeting. I wanted to see what it was about, you know as a businesswoman. It wasn’t really going with the whole plan of my music career. I don’t think it was a good look for me. I wanted to focus on what I had going on in my life currently, they wanted to focus on what happened in the past.”

Brooke Kimbrough, an 17-year-old high school senior, always dreamed of attending the University of Michigan. But when she received her rejection letter in the mail this spring, Kimbrough took an unusual step: she held a news conference and rally at the campus to protest the decision.

“I fervently believe in black equality,” Kimbrough explained in a statement. “I believe that our public university system should provide a pathway for opportunity for underrepresented minority communities. I am appealing my application to the University of Michigan not only for myself, but for other black and minority students who deserve the equal opportunity to go to the best public university in the nation.”
Kimbrough, a senior at University Preparatory Academy in Detroit, says she’s taking a stand on behalf of other minority applicants to the elite public university, located in Ann Arbor, Mich. Less than 5 percent of the student body is African-American; of the state’s total population, more than 14 percent are black, according to the 2012 U.S. Census.
At the rally Tuesday, Kimbrough also promised to publicize more rejection letters from minority students until her public appeal for a spot in next fall’s freshman class is granted.
“I have left the plantation to get my freedom but I am coming back for you too,” she said in a video posted by Fox 2 Detroit.
Kimbrough says she carried a 3.6 GPA and scored a 23 out of 36 on the ACT standardized test. She applied through U-M’s early action program and was given a deferred admission decision prior to her subsequent denial. The Michigan Daily notes that her scores are below average when compared to the university’s fall 2013 class, which achieved an average GPA of a 3.85 and an average ACT score range of 29 to 33. U-M is currently ranked 28th among national universities in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list.
The high school senior points to her achievements outside of the classroom: she’s part of University Prep’s award-winning debate team, president of the school’s National Honor Society chapter, and took part in a youth leadership program at Alternatives for Girls, a Detroit nonprofit. Kimbrough is backed by the civil rights activist group By Any Means Necessary (BAMN). Three other Metro Detroit students also attended the news conference and protest to share their stories.
“It frustrates me when I’m actually trying to do something, bring this over to the University and show them that, ‘Yes, you can still come from this kind of area with one parent at that home and not a lot of money coming in every year, but you can still be somebody,’” Kimbrough said, according to a Michigan Daily report.
The university has certain requirements that she doesn’t meet. Why does she not understand that? Affirmative action is WRONG in every aspect of life. She’s smart enough to know that. Or not…

Chris Brown’s bodyguard was found guilty this morning of misdemeanor assault … setting the stage for Brown’s trial later today.
Christopher Hollosy had told police he punched the victim after he allegedly tried to get onto Brown’s tour bus … but the victim said that was never the case.
Brown’s case will be heard later today in D.C. and the stakes are HUGE. If Brown is found guilty of misdemeanor assault (he denies punching the man) the judge in the Rihanna beating case could revoke his probation and sentence Brown to up to four years in jail.
It might just be time for Christopher Maurice Brown to pay the piper.

A South Side shooting left four girls and a boy hurt, and on the Northwest Side a 15-year-old girl was shot while riding in a car as shootings across Chicago Sunday night added to the toll of a violent holiday weekend.
At least nine people were killed and at least 36 wounded since Friday. Two of the deaths came Sunday morning when a Cook County Sheriff’s Office correctional officer apparently shot to death his wife, a Chicago police officer, inside their Southwest Side home before turning the gun on himself, authorities said. Three of the deaths and 14 of the wounded were shot between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday.
Five children, ranging in age from 11 to 15, were shot by someone who fired from a car shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 6600 block of South Michigan Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The children had been playing at a park near an elementary school and were walking home when a car pulled up and someone asked if they were in a particular gang, family members and police said.
One relative said they had said they were not in the gang; another said shots rang out before they could answer. The gunman hit four girls and a boy.
The youngest, 11-year-old Tymisha Washington, was the most seriously wounded and was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition.
Tymisha, a 5th grader, had just hours earlier had returned from church and shared an Easter dinner with relatives. She was struck by two bullets, one that hit her chin and one that punctured a lung and broke her collarbone, her parents said.
Hopefully the day will come when stories like this are a thing of the past.
