Steve Harvey has scored a $208,000 legal victory against a private aircraft company – who the comedian sued for screwing him over on a deal – with a judge granting a default judgment after to the defendants never showed up to court.
Back in November, a company named Business Aircraft Leasing filed suit against the “Family Feud” host accusing him of screwing them out of $400,000 in renovations he wanted on a private jet.
The company said that they made a deal with Harvey in April to lease a Gulfstream G-IVSP S/N 1289, but only under the condition that they upgraded the jet’s interior to his likening -including custom carpet, custom seat designs and new upper and lower cabin sidewalls along with other changes that cost over $400,000.
They claimed that Harvey paid about half of the cost but then stiffed them for the rest of the money. They sued Harvey for screwing them out of the remaining $205,000 and never leasing the jet from them despite making them make the improvements.
The case was settled months later in January.
Then earlier this year, Harvey headed back to court and slapped Federal Aviation Title Company and a woman named Christina Klein with his own federal lawsuit.
The complaint explained that on May 28th 2015, he entered into an agreement with the company – as escrow agents – to hold and not release $250,000 that were being held in an account in relation to a deal he was working on with Business Aircraft Leasing.
Harvey said the money was only to be released once he accepted the private aircraft, something he says he never did. The comedian demanded the return of the $208,000 left in the account on several occasions, but said in court papers they refused to release it back to him.
Harvey filed for breach of contract and demanding $208,959.77 in damages for the remaining amount in the escrow account and punitive damages along with attorney fees.
Then in July, the comedian demanded the court award him a default judgment against Klein and the company, explaining they have blown off the lawsuit and failed to show up to court despite being served with the legal papers. He pleaded for the judge to awarded him the full $208,959.77 in damages.
This week, the judge came back with his decision and granted Harvey’s motion for a default judgment.
The judge said the evidence shows that the defendants were served with the legal papers and didn’t bother to respond to the allegations in court. Therefore, the judge granted Harvey’s motion and awarded him a default judgment in the full amount he requested in the amount of $208,959.77.

Not too long ago it happened to me that I would walk into various fashion model agencies and I would immediately be compared to that one or two black model that they had on the roster. Even though I was told by those agencies that I have an amazing look and wish they could represent me, they already have a black model. Besides having an abundance of white models. It seemed as if one or two black models on the roster are enough to represent us all. When you are told that, trust me, it feels bizarre.
For this project, I decided to re-shoot several of the inspiring and famous campaigns out there and try to show what they could look like with a black model. Teaming up with Photographer Raffael Dickreuter it was a big challenge to reverse engineer and re-shoot these images and get as close as possible to the original. Even though it was a big challenge it was important and necessary to do it.

Gayle King is a money-making woman! Oprah’s BFF has agreed to stay on as a host of ‘CBS This Morning’ after signing a $16.5 million deal with the network reports The Grio.
The deal would see Gayle making $5.5 million per year as “CBS This Morning” has been the only morning new broadcast to gain viewers this year.
“Gayle is a huge asset to the show, and her chemistry with Charlie is great. She’s here for the long term,” a source told PageSix of the deal.

An African-American couple is suing Barneys claiming the high-end retailer gave them a hard time for simply returning some items to the store reports NY Daily News.
Conrad Barton and Geneva Gordon claim they visited a Barneys store in Chelsea last October to return jeans and a scarf when all hell broke loose:
Barton paid $1,045 for the jeans and $321 for the scarf on Sept. 11, according to the suit filed in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
A clerk told him to wait, Barton said. Fifteen minutes later, a man who claimed to be a store manager came out and demanded that he produce identification, the suit said. Barton argued that he didn’t need ID, court docs said.
The man talking to him said he was the manager — but he turned out to be a loss prevention officer, the suit said. The officer refused to give back the clothes or Barton’s debit card, court papers said.
Why would they send out a loss prevention officer to resolve the return?
“You’re being stereotyped when you are just following a regular store procedure,” said Barton, who works in transportation operations. “It shouldn’t have went down that route.”
“I feel the whole situation was very disheartening and embarrassing and unnecessary,” Gordon said.
Barton and Gordon hired an attorney, who contacted Barneys lawyer Grace Fu. She initially assured him they were investigating, but then stopped communicating, the suit said. Barton and Gordon decided to sue the company.

NFLer Brandon Marshall is speaking out after a racist troll sent him a letter that threatened his life and warned him to “go back to the jungle.”
An unknown racist sent a letter Friday to the New York Jets wide receiver, calling him the n-word several times and criticizing him over his decision to join fellow player Colin Kaepernick in a protest against police brutality by kneeling during the National Anthem at games. Marshall later posted it on social media.
“If you are sooo (sic) unhappy with America, turn in your ‘millions’ and move back to the jungle,” the letter, which was exclusively obtained by BOSSIP, read. “We hate you and your ‘kind’ of n****rs!”
But the player said he refused to be cowed by the shocking show of racism but said it illustrated why he and others are demonstrating against it.
“I posted the letter because it needed to be seen,” Marshall told BOSSIP. “This exposes something that certain people thought didn’t exist anymore. Hatred of another person’s views, beliefs and skin color still exists. Light needed to be shed on this darkness.”
Marshall has been on the receiving end of a volley of trash talk ever since he sided with Kaepernick in his campaign against police violence, but none of the take downs have been as vitriolic as this letter.
The ominous letter ends with “Your time is coming, watch out n****r!”
“The hatred by some against people of color is one of the reasons why where we’re at in the world today, and they wonder why we feel the way we do and take the stances we take,” Marshall wrote on Instagram Friday. “I received this letter at work.”

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Stevie J pleaded with a judge to order the baby he’s expecting with ex Joseline Hernandez be drug tested immediately following the birth.
Stevie J headed back to court recently in the case demanding the soon-to-be-born child from Joseline be drug tested within 24 hours of being born. He also wants a substance abuse evaluation for Joseline and said his ex had been drinking heavily throughout her pregnancy and using controlled substances.
He said Joseline has continued doing drugs – though he doesn’t say which ones – in addition to consuming an increased quantity of alcoholic drinks throughout the duration of her pregnancy.
The reality star informed the court that Joseline had a history of acting aggressively and violently attacking others while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Joseline sued Stevie J, demanding a DNA test for her unborn baby. She claimed Stevie promised to pay for her medical expenses for the pregnancy but instead financially abandoned her.
She asked the judge to order Stevie to pay her child support and put a parenting plan in place for custody. She is due to give birth next month.
A Nevada judge ruled that a sextape that featured Adrien Broner and two other women was leaked due to his negligence, and ordered the boxer to compensate the plaintiff $40,000 for lost wages. He is also being mandated to pay $135,000 for pain and suffering.
Throughout the trial, Broner had attempted to fight the lawsuit behind his claim that the tape was leaked by an unknown party after he lost the cellphone it was stored on and that he simply misplaced it due to the fact that he carries around 3 cellphones at one time. As he describes it; one of the phones is for home, another for business, and the phone in question being his “ho phone.” But Broner apparently didn’t have a good enough answer for why he wouldn’t have password-protected it knowing he had the video stored on the device.
