Supreme Court Nominee Withdraws From Race After Being Caught Sending Racist Christmas Card

A white GOP supreme court nominee has officially withdrawn his name from the candidate pool after it was revealed that he sent a racist holiday card featuring a black woman visiting a black man in jail.

A Centre County judge tapped by Gov. Wolf to fill a state Supreme Court vacancy is withdrawing his nomination after coming under fire last week for an e-mail that some claimed was racially insensitive.

Judge Thomas K. Kistler, the president judge in Centre County since 2012, confirmed Monday he is removing his name from consideration.

In a statement, Kistler made no mention of the e-mail or the furor surrounding it. Instead, he said that “several circumstances have developed here, at home, in Centre County, which have dramatically altered the legal system and require my full attention.”

Kistler, a 57-year-old Republican, had been backed by GOP senators who control the state Senate.

His spokesman Jeff Sheridan said the governor does not plan to name new nominees, and the two vacancies on the high court will remain until the election in November.

The Inquirer reported Friday concern from legislators and others over an e-mail sent in December 2013 by Kistler titled “Merry Christmas From the Johnsons.” The message depicted a black man and a black woman during what appears to be a jail visit. The man, smiling and wearing an orange prison uniform, sits behind a glass window.

Forwarded with a subject line that read “best Christmas card ever,” the message also includes cartoon depictions of Santa Claus and reindeer.

Kistler has confirmed that he had forwarded the message, but maintained that there was no ill intent.

R&B Singer Charmayne Maxwell Dies At 46

Sad news for R&B fans. Brownstone singer Charmayne Maxwell has died at only 46-years-old in what appears to be a freak accident.

According to TMZ reports:

Charmayne Maxwell — part of the 90s R&B group Brownstone — died Friday night in L.A. after her husband found her bleeding from a cut to her neck … TMZ has learned.

A family member tells us Charmayne had come home from her son’s soccer game, and was home alone with him. Later in the evening … around 9 PM her husband, music producer Carsten Soulshock, came home and found her unconscious and bleeding.

We’re told it looked like Charmayne had fallen and cut her neck on glass … she was bleeding profusely, but still had a pulse. Carsten called 911, and paramedics transported her to Cedars Sinai Hospital … but she had lost too much blood. We’re told she died on the way to the hospital.

LAPD went to the home … and tell us it was a broken wine glass that cut Charmayne’s neck. Detectives do not suspect foul play.

The group — which was on Michael Jackson’s MJJ Music label — had its biggest hit with 1995’s “If You Love Me.” They earned a Billboard Music Award and a Grammy nomination for the song.

Maxwell is survived by her husband of 20 years Carsten Schack and their son Nicolaj. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones.

This has to be one of the most disturbing accidents we’ve ever heard. There were some reports that Maxwell’s death may have been suicide, but that was refuted by her brother on Twitter.

Taraji P. Henson Responds To Mo’Nique’s Empire Claims

We reported yesterday that Mo told INSIDE EDITION that she was offered the headline making part of Cookie by Lee Daniels, but instead it went to Taraji P. Henson, who has become Empire’s breakout star.

“When he called me up, he offered me the role in Empire as Cookie,” she said.

Mo’Nique said Daniels even sent her a script.

Mo’Nique explained, “Maybe four days had gone by, and I hadn’t heard anything. So I’m trying to reach out to him to say, what time do I need to be in? Where do I need to be? When he finally returned the call, he says listen, the executives at Fox said that you’re difficult.”

Milwaukee, Wisconsin – In August of 2013 former detective Rodolfo Gomez savagely beat Deron Love during an interrogation. He was chained to the wall. Deron Love, 27, was accused of killing his 7-month-old baby, a charge he would not confess to and one that he would eventually beat.
A year after being tortured by Gomez, Love was found not guilty of first-degree reckless homicide and child neglect in the death of his infant son.
Love’s innocence was of no matter to Gomez who repeatedly compelled him to confess.
After becoming tired of being told to confess to a crime that he did not commit, Love became agitated and began screaming in the face of Gomez. Gomez, then “feared for his safety” as the man, who was chained to a wall yelled at him. So he began to beat the restrained man.
There are two videos of Gomez’s interaction with Love. In the first video, Gomez is seen unleashing multiple punches and knee blows to the face and head of Love.
In the second video, both of Love’s hands are chained to the wall. Seeing the opportunity to inflict more pain, Gomez then began gouging Love’s eyes. The screams are hard to bare.

Spiritual Leader Convinces 400 Men To Get Castrated

A man has been accused of encouraging hundreds of followers to be castrated in a promise for them to become closer to God.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, an Indian pop-star and telepreacher with a reported wealth of more than $50 million, is being investigated after he allegedly manipulated around 400 men to get their testicles removed – according to India Today.

One of his former followers who underwent castration seven years ago – named Hans Raj Chauhan – is one of the few to break the silence to speak out against him and the group.

“[The victims] were told that only those who get castrated will be able to meet God,” said Chauhan’s lawyer, Navkiran Singh, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Chauhan, 35, filed a petition against the guru in 2012 and the Central Bureau of Investigation has started looking into claims dating back as far back as 2000 in preparation of charges of grievous bodily harm. However many followers are believed to be in fear of speaking out.

In January, MailOnline reported how Singh, the head of the Dera Sacha Sauda organisation, had hit back at the allegations. At a press conference for his new film he said: “Such allegations disturb me, when I am doing good for humanity. Therefore me and my legal advisor are going to move the court challenging the allegations.”

The alleged castrations were said to be mainly carried out at a hospital run by the DSS in Singh’s ancestral village Gurusar Modia, in the Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan.

The DSS also owns factories, markets, farms, restaurants, hotels and runs schools and orphanages, according to Latterly Magazine.

Singh – who has more than 87,000 Twitter followers but is not a follower of anyone – describes himself on a social media bio as a “spiritual Saint/philanthropist/versatile singer/allrounder sportsperson/film director/art director/music director/script writer/lyricist/autobiographer/DOP”.

In the video embedded below, Bill “The Science Guy” Nye spoke with Real Time with Bill Maher producer Miles Leicher about the new edition of his book — Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation — which will be out in the fall.

The book, which is a direct refutation of Christian Creationism, came about after a debate between Nye and Creationist Ken Ham that took place last year.

During the discussion, Nye aired his views on race, which he said is an artificial, human-made construct that has no basis in science.

“In a very important sense,” said Nye, racial distinctions are meaningless and racism is “inappropriate, and I’ll show you why and you can run your own test yourself.”

Take a person like Leicher who is of European descent, Nye said. “If you were to have sex with a woman from China — southern China, western China — all you’re going to get’s a human.”

“Right,” said Leicher.

“The only thing that’s going to come out is a human,” Nye said. “That’s because we’re all one species. We are all one race.”

“The only difference is the color of our skin,” he said, and that comes from how close your ancestors lived to the Equator or at high altitudes like Tibetans.

“There have always been tribes,” Nye continued, “but what we have to appreciate now is that we live in a global community. And tribal loyalties…they’re not relevant to our future.”

Sounds like a fancy way to say #AllLivesMatter, but whatever…

Lee Daniels Tells Larry Wilmore He Took His Mom To Gay Pride

The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore has been a breakout hit on Comedy Central and last night’s episode explains why. The TV host had ‘Precious’ director and Empire co-creator Lee Daniels on the show and insightful hilarity ensued.

Daniels discussed everything from bringing liquor to Mars to his open homosexuality. When asked how he would explain being gay to a Martian, the award winning filmmaker said it couldn’t be much harder than going to a pride parade with his mother. A surprised Wilmore broke character, but Daniels was not flustered. “She thought I was the only one,” Daniels explained.

Kim Kardashian’s hasn’t tried to impress a pianist this much since … well, ever … because she’s taking lessons from a classically trained musician — and no, she’s not only playing the black keys.

Kardashian family sources tell TMZ … Kim recently reached out to classical pianist Oksana Kolesnikova after a recommendation from no less an authority than Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds. We’re told Kim’s been laser focused on her lessons with Oksana.

You might think Kanye West is her musical inspiration — but we’re told Kim’s interest in piano goes back to watching her father play when she was a child. She also played violin in grade school, and plans to pick that up again … since Kourtney just gave her one for Christmas.

Kim could make her debut in May — Oksana tells us she’s invited her to perform at a recital where her students show off their skills. We’re told Kim has a special song planned to surprise her family.

3 Atlanta Arrested After Beating Their Friend Over Hamburger

Atlanta police say they have arrested three women in the beating of another over a hamburger.

Chazmyn Donald, 21, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and third-degree cruelty to children.

Police said Monday that Tekia Strickland and Armonni Cofer turned themselves in and are now in the Fulton County Jail. They said all the suspects in the case have been arrested.

Myriah Pointer, 23, said her so-called friends kicked and punched her while recording the attack.

“I’m more hurt emotionally than physically,” Pointer said. “I was unconscious while they were beating me.”

Pointer had two black eyes, a chipped tooth and a concussion after the women, who she thought were her friends, beat her and videotaped it. A small child was also in the room during the beating.

The video has since gone viral.

Rikers Island Prisoners Save Corrections Officer From Rape

A group of inmates rescued a female correction officer who was nearly raped by a hulking prisoner inside a locked vestibule on Rikers Island Saturday night, The Daily News has learned.

The inmates helped responding correction officers frantically tear away Plexiglas on the outside of the bubble-like watch post inside the Anna M. Kross Center at 8:15 p.m., according to multiple sources.

A skinny inmate slipped inside the so-called “A station” bubble through the small crack and opened the security door. A team of inmates then took down the assailant, Raleek Young, 27, until other officers arrived.

During the attack, Young, who is 5-foot-9 and weighs 290 pounds, pulled down his pants and began masturbating while choking the officer, court records show.

He dragged the officer into an adjacent bathroom and blocked her from opening the security door.

Apparently the attack was caught on video. Mr. Young made contact with the guard by saying he needed to retrieve a mattress from another unit that required he walk through a watch tower.

Oh yeah, Young is in prison for raping at 13-year-old girl.

Initially, jail brass labeled the attack a routine “use of force” incident, records show.

That infuriated officers at the facility, who demanded it be labeled a sexual assault.

On Sunday, officers at the facility refused to go to their posts at the start of the 3 p.m. shift, sources said.

Correction Officers Benevolent Association President Norman Seabrook came to the jail and persuaded his members to go back to work after he promised to take up their cause, sources said.

The union president is furious Young wasn’t instantly rearrested and hit with added charges. He claims staff at the Bronx district attorney’s office insisted the matter would be handled after the weekend was over.

Says Correction Officers Benevolent Association President Norman Seabrook:

“I appreciate (them) helping a sister officer because that could have been their mother, wife or sister,” Seabrook said, noting 90% of the inmates “are there to do their time and go home.”

Anti-Marriage Group Says Homosexuality Causes Cancer

An Irish family campaigning group has launched a series of extraordinary attacks against same-sex couples, including claims that same-sex couples die younger, are more prone to cancer, and are more likely to abuse and injure children.

The Alliance for the Defence of the Family and Marriage (ADFAM), an initiative based in Ireland which claims to “promote and defend the traditional family”, have been distributing the leaflets to spread their beliefs this week. Witnesses say they have been handed out outside churches and rugby matches among other venues. A journalist for the Irish website Her was handed one of the pamphlets outside a Divine Mercy event in Dublin. It comes in the run-up to the Irish Republic’s referendum in on same-sex marriage due to take place on May 22.

ADFAM have defended the pamphlet, which is titled ‘Why Should I Vote Against Same-Sex Marriage?’ and have listed reasons why readers should vote against the marriage equality referendum.

Speaking to The Irish Times, Séamas de Barra a member of the alliance said the claims are backed up by research undertaken in Denmark, where civil partnerships were legalised in 1989.

The group also defends its claim that same-sex marriage “is a confidence trick” which “tends to be very short-lived, and promiscuous” and that “frequently, same-sex pairs don’t even live together.”

In the past the group has stated that voting for same-sex marriage “is like voting for Islamic State-style sharia law. It is giving in to a very small minority. In this case, the very small minority will dictate what marriage means. Persecution of Christians surely will follow, and it will become a crime to teach and preach Christian morality.”

Tiernan Brady, policy director at the Irish Gay and Lesbian Equality Network (GLEN), fiercely condemns the pamphlet’s content. “Most importantly, it’s not true,” he says. “It’s disrespectful, and an attack on the humanity of certain citizens of Ireland.

“Unfortunately there are those who will take us back to a time of intolerance. ADFAM don’t seem to care that the referendum is a vote about real people and real people’s rights. Lesbian and gay people will read that pamphlet, and the intent can be nothing other than to do as much damage to people. Their motivation is dark, dangerous and disgraceful. We have to remain positive.”

Man Shoots Sister In Buttocks Over Penis Cake

A Florida man (of course) was recently arrested after authorities say he reacted to a penis shaped birthday cake prank by shooting his sister in the butt.

A Holly Hill man has been arrested after police say he shot his sister with a BB gun because she made him a phallic birthday cake.

Christopher Taft, 21, has been charged with aggravated battery and battery in the Sunday incident.

Police said Taft shot his sister in the buttocks with a BB gun in retaliation for his sister making him a birthday cake in the shape of a penis.

Taft told police he thought it would be funny to shoot his sister with a BB gun as a joke and did not intend to hurt her, according to the report.

The BB was embedded in the victim’s skin and she refused to be transported, saying she would go to a hospital herself, police said.

The victim told police she didn’t want to pursue criminal charges.

Taft was taken to Volusia County jail.

Bruce Jenner was seen moving into his new very private and roomy hilltop property nestled deep within the hills of Malibu on Thursday.

And on Tuesday the inside of the $3.5m mansion was revealed.

The home, his second since leaving Kris Jenner, has modern touches and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean as well as a luxurious pool.

According to sources quoted by Variety on Monday, Kris Jenner’s ex bought the house for $3.575m, a bargain well below the $3.9m asking price.

The light grey 3,500 square-foot home is far from modest and sits on 11 acres of land (as reported by People).

Built in 2010, the concrete-and-glass structure came with four bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and 360-degree views of the surrounding hills.
