America gathered around their homies’ television to watch Floyd Mayweather pummel Conor McGregor live from Las Vegas.
We can’t recall their ever being a fight with this much hype behind it. In most cases, it’s Floyd Mayweather taking center stage as the villain to promote a fight. But in this case, it felt like McGregor was the star sh!t-talker, and his racist, sexist and disrespectful form of villainy was every bit as instigating as Floyd’s.
Not to be dismissed is the fact that most people knew going in that this would be the last time they see Floyd Mayweather box. The victory over McGregor made him 50-0, breaking the 49-0 record of hall of fame fade deliverer Rocky Marciano.
There was a lot on the line. Could a MMA-fighter-turned-boxing-neophyte give Floyd his first and only loss? Would Floyd keep his promise to knock the aggy Irishman out? People have varied opinions about Mayweather, but we all watched in anticipation of witnessing history.
We say all that to say, the hype was BIG and apparently it paid off because according to Telegraph, the fight is estimated to gross $700 between pay-per-view sales and tickets.
The official numbers are confidential, but Mayweather is gonna walk away with several hundred million, at least two, maybe even three.
Sure would be nice to see Floyd do something really good with all that bread.

Last night, DJ Khaled kicked-off VMA weekend by hosting the first-ever Xbox Live Session, a brand new livestream hosted on the Xbox Mixer Channel. Throughout the broadcast, Khaled played Madden NFL 18 on Xbox One S, all while discussing his passion for gaming, flying for the First Time, Baby Asahd and the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight.
After the livestream, DJ Khaled hosted an Xbox gaming event at the Microsoft Lounge in Venice, CA. Throughout the night, celebrities including Noah Cyrus, Anders Holm, Casey Veggies, Derek Hough, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Terrance Ross, iJustine and more enjoyed popular Xbox titles including Madden NFL 18, Forza Motorsports 7, Cuphead and several games from Xbox Game Pass.

Her mama has a little star with a huge heart on her hands. Koi made her own P.S.A. for residents of Houston who are suffering from Hurricane Harvey’s deadly flooding.
She’s encouraging Houtstonians to stay safe, and heck on their loved ones every few hours. Koi also advises drivers, who see high water levels to turn around! Take a look.

Who would go out of their way after “accidentally” stabbing themselves to file a whole police report and blame it on an imaginary person??? A hateful human being, that’s who…AND he tried to spin the fake incident into a hate crime.
Joshua Witt, 26, called the police saying a black man approached him after getting out of his car in the Steak and Shake’s parking lot in Sheridan Colorado, according 9News.
“Are you one of them Neo Nazi?” the man “reportedly” told Witt before allegedly ramming him with a small knife. Witt claimed the man stabbed him in the hand. He took to social media to post photos of his bloodied hand and clothes and said his haircut might have sparked the attack.
Surveillance video of where the alleged attack happened showed no one fleeing the scene as Witt had told police, investigators said. However, the footage did show Witt leaving a sporting goods store after buying a small knife. SMH. He eventually admitted he accidentally cut himself with his knife and told police he made the attack up.
To make it worse, Sheridan police had already detained an innocent a man, but was cleared as a suspect, CBS Denver reported.
Witt was arrested and released for making a false report. He faces up to a year in jail with a $2,650 fine, if convicted.
Floyd Mayweather ate like a king before trouncing his opponent Connor McGregor in their much-hyped fight over the weekend.
Mayweather started out his day with a hearty bowl of oatmeal and a fruit plate. But for dinner, the champ went for his go-to pre-fight dinner of a New York strip steak from a Las Vegas restaurant.
Mayweather beat MMA fighter McGregor Aug. 26 after pummeling the Irishman so badly that the ref broke it up in the 10th round and called time on the brawl.
Santiago said the next day, Mayweather and his pals from “The Money Team” celebrated the win with a victory meal of barbecue, with more grilled steak and barbecue chicken at his palatial Las Vegas manse.
“After the fight, everybody was full throttle around here,” said Santiago, who has also cooked for the likes of Kevin Hart, Kyrie Irving and Fabulous. “We had a good time.”
Typically, Santiago said she cooks big spreads for Mayweather and his entourage, and he loves soul food: baked chicken, corn bread with butter and syrup, collard greens, Frank’s Redhot sauce – and a ton of barbecue chicken, Santiago said.
“He’s obsessed with barbecue chicken,” the chef said. “I feel like my barbecued chicken solidified my job. He said it was the best he ever had the first time I made it for him.”
And Santiago said despite his status as the richest man in boxing, Mayweather is very down to earth in his dealings with her.
“He’s actually one of the easiest clients I’ve ever had,” Santiago said. “He doesn’t care how long it takes as long as it comes out great. He won’t bother me. He just knows what he wants and allows me to do what I do.”

Finally! A statue worth getting excited about. Today in Atlanta members of the King family along with the Mayor and Governor Nathan Deal assembled at the state capitol for the unveiling of the new Martin Luther King Jr. statue.
Most of those at the gathering noted that today is the 54th anniversary of King’s “I Have A Dream” speech during his momentous March on Washington, but his youngest daughter Bernice King actually addressed the parallel (or lack thereof) between her father’s new statue and those dedicated to Confederate soldiers that are at the center of a heated national debate about race and inequality.

According to AJC reports, King addressed the crowd saying:
“Today, on the same day, although he is not physically present with us, he is present in spirit, and through the symbol of this statue.
“This statue, being unveiled today, I believe also provides a sense of hope to a nation that is in turmoil once again, as many people around this nation are removing and taking down Confederate monuments.
‘It is apropos that today in the state of Georgia, which was once a Confederate state, that we are erecting a statue – and we are unveiling a statue, more importantly – to a man who represents liberty, justice, freedom, righteousness and equality.
“In so doing, it is my hope and my prayer, that on this day, all across this nation, that conversations will begin of the appropriate way to represent this nation in our public spaces.”

Very often in this country racism is talked about as a Black vs. white issue, but there are obviously many races of people who are marginalized in American culture.
The Asian community is frequently bombarded with racist imagery in comedy, television and film. Today, they got a small victory in an otherwise apathetic war.
According to NYDailyNews, actor Ed Skrein was set to star in the upcoming superhero flick “Hellboy” as Major Ben Daimio. For those unfamiliar with the comics, Daimio is Asian, Skrein is as white as the driven snow.
Just as we do when Black folks are portrayed as white, the community spoke out against this whitewashing of culture, and like a empathetic and decent human, Ed quit his impending job:
Way to go, Ed. Hopefully this will lead to other white actors and actresses stop the f**ksh!t and respect the voices of the people who’s culture they are trying to erase.
Even though her honorary-peach-holding ex-hubby is getting his own spinoff series on Bravo, Cynthia is clearly keeping her story rolling with her new dating life.

Folks all over the nation are pretty displeased with Houston Megachurch pastor and motivational Christian speaker Joel Osteen. Even though Houston is the home base for his worldwide, multi-million dollar ministry…somehow, his Sanctuary’s doors aren’t open to those in need during record flooding in his city.
The location for Osteen’s Lakewood Church was once upon a time the Compaq Center sports arena — home of the Houston Rockets — and can comfortably seat nearly 17,000 people. But, now that thousands in the city are in distress, displaced, and in need of a safe dry spot to go…the church’s doors are locked.
Apparently, Osteen and crew report to TMZ that the reason the church isn’t open for those in need is due to flooding of the roads in the area. But let social media tell it…
SMH! Look, we aren’t weather or road experts over here…but that definitely looks like useable space for those in need of help.

Our heartbreaks with each and every update we hear about the people in Houston and surrounding areas who are suffering and displaced due to Hurricane Harvey.
This story in particular is hard to read, but it serves as an example of just how dire the situation in Texas is right now.
According to WHOU, a family of 6 is feared dead after their family vehicle was overtaken by water and submerged with all of them trapped inside.
The potential victims are thought to be 4 children from ages 6 to 16 and their 2 great grandparents. The only person to escape the sinking car was the kids’ great uncle, Samuel “Sammy” Saldivar, who clung to a tree after making his way out of the car.
Manuel Saldivar, 84, his wife Belia, 81, Daisy Saldivar, 6, Xavier Saldivar, 8, Dominic Saldivar, 14, Devy Saldivar, 16 were crossing a bridge on their way out of town and ran into higher-than-expected flood water. A witness said the car sank very quickly as the family tried to escape through the back door.
We. Can’t. Even. Imagine. So, so, sad.
