Marc Jacobs caught quite a bit of controversy over using faux locs on his white models in this season’s show.

But of course, rather than lend an open mind and a concerned ear to the concerns of people of color or those familiar with the terrain of cultural appropriation…Marc decided to instead do a classic act of white people white peopling, and basically tell brown people to quit their whining and stop ‘stealing’ white folks’ straight hair if they feel such a way about it — before half-azzedly backtracking and saying he didn’t mean to offend anyone.

SMH. The point he’s missing here is that society ROUTINELY tells Black people our hair is dirty, messy, “ghetto” and unprofessional, then turns around to use it for fun and call it “cool” and “edgy” when placed on fairer tones. But clearly Marc doesn’t care, as long as he can use it to push his fashions.

Reality Star Accused Of Assaulting & Stealing From Cab Driver

A judge has declared a mistrial in Love & Hip Hop Hollywood’s Teairra Mari’s Uber driver robbery and assault case – but it’s for an unusual reason.

The judge last week called a mistrial on the singer’s case after he became ill and could no longer preside over it, a spokeswoman from the LA County District Attorney’s Office told us.

The driver said Teairra – who was born Teairra Marie Thomas – went nuts on him during a ride last year, stealing his iPhone charger, pummeling him, and then refusing to get out of the car until the cops showed up.

The case was in the midst of trial until the judge got sick, though its not clear what he is suffering from. Now, jury selection will begin again next month, and the case will be reheard in November. She’s facing charges of battery on a transit employee, petty theft and vandalism. If convicted, Teairra faces up to two and a half years in prison.

Earlier this year, prosecutors offered her a no-jail plea deal of probation and anger management, but Ray J’s ex chose to take her chances at trial.

We’ve reached out to Teairra Mari’s lawyer, Steven Szocs, for comment.

America’s Next Top Model’s Miss Jay Among Attendees To J.J Gray Trunk Show

Emerging designer Jessica Perdomo said she came across her idea to start a new line of footwear, J.J. Gray, by accident.

The Afro-Latina designer, who worked for Salvatore Ferragamo and Ralph Lauren before launching her own shoe line of oxfords and jodhpurs, said she was shopping while on vacation in Europe but wasn’t digging the footwear for sale.

“I was in the south of Spain and I was looking for shoes for myself, I didn’t see anything I liked,” she told us, “but I saw this incredible leather, and I told the family that runs the shop, ‘If I sketch something, could you make it?’ And when I got back to New York people just started complimenting me.”

Now, eight months later, the Dominican-American designer has racked up fans at Vogue and Footwear News to name a few.

Perdomo hosted her first trunk show at New York Fashion Week Sept. 15, drawing the likes of America’s Next Top Model Miss Jay and “Blood, Sweat & Heels” star Geneva Thomas.

Raised by Dominican immigrant grandparents in the Corona neighborhood of Queens, New York, Perdomo’s unisex leather line was inspired by Perdomo’s longtime love of men’s fashion.

“I’m a tomboy,” she said. “So I just wanted something that was feminine enough, but with the comfort of a man’s shoe.”

Mississippi Man Admits To Stabbing Nuns To Death And Stealing Their Car

The sadistic Mississippi man who killed two nuns last month confessed to fatally stabbing them and stealing their car, prosecutors announced Friday.

Rodney Earl Sanders, 46, has been charged with two counts of capital murder in the senseless slayings of Sisters Margaret Held and Paula Merrill.

Held and Merrill, both 68, were well-known in their hometown of Durant for dedicating their lives to providing health care in one of the country’s poorest counties. Their bodies were found when colleagues grew worried after they failed to show up for work at the Lexington health clinic on Aug. 25.

Spent their whole lives helping people and this is how they go out. Beyond sad…

Standing mere feet away from Sanders, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Agent LeCarus Oliver testified that the sicko admitted to crashing in a shed across the street from the nuns’ home.

After sleeping there for three nights, Sanders broke in through the back door. After stabbing the pious pair to death, he cleaned himself up in a bathroom sink, records show.

“He washed himself up because his hands were sticky,” Oliver said.

Investigators retrieved a knife from the shed where Sanders had been staying and rape kits for the two victims are pending at a state crime lab.

Lora King Says There’s No Point In Being Mad At The Police

In one of the biggest head-scratching moments of 2016, Rodney Kings’ daughter recently took a photo with the Los Angeles Police Department as a moment of solidarity. Thirty-two-year-old Lora King was talking to a group of about 50 young adults about run-ins with the police and how to make the interactions easier for all parties involved. Rodney King, if you aren’t aware, was the father of Lora who was nearly beaten to death by four white officers in 1991. Although the incident was caught on tape and played at the trial, all four officers were found not guilty.

Rodney King’s daughter was just 7 when her father was beaten bloody by officers with the Los Angeles Police Department. She was eating breakfast when it came on the morning news — video footage showing LAPD officers kicking and hitting her unarmed father dozens of times with batons. It gave her nightmares for years.

In a striking scene that stood in sharp contrast to the 1991 beating, the now 32-year-old Lora King stood shoulder to shoulder with about a dozen LAPD officers Thursday, hugging many of them. She was there to join them in a talk to young people who have had their own run-ins with police.

Her message: It’s more important to build bridges with officers than to stand against them. “That’s actually what my dad stood for, so I’m following in his footsteps. He had no hatred in his heart for police,” King said ahead of her talk with about 50 young adults with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps, which provides at-risk youth with job training, education and work.

King, an administrative assistant at an accounting firm, said she’s had her own negative interactions with police. Despite that and her father’s beating, she said a whole police department can’t be judged by the actions of a few.

“It is hard to trust,” she said. “But it’s not going to get anything resolved by hating.” More than anything, officers need to listen to the community, and the community needs to keep an open mind, she said.

Rodney King died at the age of 47 after he accidentally drowned in 2012. His beating was the touchstone for one of the most destructive race riots in the nation’s history. The 1992 riots lasted three days and left 55 people dead, more than 2,000 injured and swaths of Los Angeles on fire. At the height of the violence, King pleaded on television: “Can we all get along?”

Lora King said her father’s beating was an eye-opener at the time, “but it’s like everyone dozed off again.”

Later, she said the reason why she decided to come to the meeting is because there’s no point in being mad.

Concern over police tactics has been mounting in recent years in the wake of a number of deaths of unarmed black men at the hands of officers across the country. Police have increasingly become targets themselves, most notably when a sniper killed five officers in Dallas in July.
King sat next to LAPD officers as they spoke with young adults about interacting with police, discussing what they can do to help diffuse situations and how police can improve. Lovis Bell was among them. The 23-year-old landscaper, who is black, first learned of Rodney King’s beating when he was 14.

He said he’s had his own negative interactions with police that he believes were racially motivated, including once being slammed up against a gate, leaving scars on his chest. But Bell said Lora King’s message was powerful and struck a chord.
“I’m still mad, but there’s no point,” he said. “There’s no room for hate inside my heart.” Senior Lead Officer Rashad Sharif, who is black, was still a rookie with LAPD when King was beaten and was in the thick of the riots the following year.

He said Lora King’s willingness to join the department to reach out to young people shows just how much LAPD has evolved in the past 25 years.

“That’s a lot of courage to come here and be like, ‘That’s the same uniform that put my dad in the hospital,’“ Sharif said. “Having her here is like full circle … I just wish I could have met her dad to say, ‘Hey, I’m sorry, too.’“

Car Crash Might Be To Blame For Writer’s Lost Leg

Quentin Miller, Drake’s alleged ghostwriter, posted a photo on Instagram showing off his new prosthetic leg. The rumor for Miller was the leg was lost in a bad car accident not too long ago, though he himself has provided no evidence of that being true. Instead, he simply captioned the photo “thanks for being patient. Falco when it’s…” and a bunch of snowflakes ended the caption.

Quentin Miller, who has been keeping it mostly low-key after being outed at Drake’s alleged ghost writer, recently revealed to the world that his foot has been amputated.

The Atlanta-based MC recently took to Instagram to visually announce his situation. The black-and-white photo posted by Miller shows the rapper’s legs from the calf down. One of his legs has been replaced by a metal prosthetic. “Thanks for being patient. Falco when it’s [cold],” he captioned the pic, likening himself to Falco Lombardi, who has mechanical legs, from the video game series Star Fox.

Miller did not reveal the reason for the amputation. It has been rumored that the rapper was in a bad car accident a few weeks back, and lost his lower leg as a result of his injuries.

Either way, he appears to be in good spirits considering the situation. “Winter… Falco… Won’t be long…❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️,” he tweeted out.

Miller has been trying to gain his footing (no pun) in the rap game, since being called out by Meek Mill and Funkmaster Flex as Drake’s pen man during their infamous blowup last year.

Despite the mess it caused, Q calls collaborating with Drake the biggest moment in his life. “It wasn’t a bad thing,” he told DJ Vlad earlier this year. “I still don’t look at it as a bad thing. It changed my life. It was a great time in my life. It was one of the highlights of my life. I got an opportunity to work with one of the biggest artists in hip-hop.”

Last December, he put out the mixtape, Hey! Thanks A Lot 3, which featured Vic Mensa, Rich The Kid and others, and production from Hit-Boy, C4, Needlz and more.

Lyfe Jennings Baby Mama Fears He’s Brainwashing Their Two Sons

The mother of Lyfe Jennings‘ two sons believes the singer is brainwashing the children to hate her and more reports TMZ:

According to docs obtained by TMZ … Lyfe’s ex and mother of their two sons claims he’s tried brainwashing their boys against her and threatened her with violence.

Lyfe was arrested in 2008 and reportedly sentenced to prison for 3 years for kicking down the door of Joy’s residence, firing shots, and leading police on a high-speed chase.

Joy says Lyfe’s still very scary, claiming he made veiled threats like “I’m gunna remember this” and telling her she was “not that hard to find.”

Lyfe tells us he never threatened Joy or the kids in any way. He claims she’s throwing a tantrum because he cussed her out about being a bad mother. He also says he’s a good dad … and everyone knows that.

TMZ also reports the judge over the case ha issued a temporary restraining order, keeping Lyfe 200 yards away from Joy and their 2 boys.

Melanie Dotson Dies

A Mississippi town and newsroom is reeling after one of their beloved reporters passed away.

Melanie Dotson, 22, died suddenly of natural causes Friday after making her mark at WJTV news.

The Clarion Ledger reports:

WJTV-TV reporter Melanie Dotson died Friday.

The station reported Dotson’s death Friday afternoon.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart said Dotson died of natural causes at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson on Friday afternoon. Stewart said she was told Dotson was 22.

Dotson joined WJTV in April. A native of Brandon, Dotson came to WJTV from WXVT-TV in Greenville.

She was a 2015 graduate of Tougaloo College, where she earned her degree in mass communication with an emphasis in radio and television broadcasting.

James Cromwell, WJTV vice president and general manager, said Dotson was “one of those very unique people” who represented the best of the best in journalism.

“Clearly she had, in a very short career, established and distinguished herself as someone who represented the best in our industry,” Cromwell said. “She clearly had a wonderful spirit and certainly had a very bright approach to our business.

Cromwell said Dotson was beloved by her co-workers.

Very, very sad news. Melanie clearly had a natural gift and a promising career ahed of her.

Keshia Knight Pulliam Flaunts New Baby Bump Pics

We recently reported that the drama continues in Keshia Knight Pulliam and Ed Hartwell’s ugly divorce.

According to Page Six reports police were called to Keshia Knight Pulliam’s home after the “Cosby Show” star’s mother would not allow estranged husband Ed Hartwell into the house to retrieve his things.

The star wasn’t home but their sources claim she’d told her mother not to allow him in the house, instead leaving his belongings inside boxes which were left in the garage for him to retrieve.

We’re told Hartwell — who had rented the home with his wife during their six-month marriage — claimed some of his things were missing. A friend of Hartwell’s says he called the police to help him enter the house, where he collected the rest of his things with a police escort. “It hurt his feelings,” said an insider, “It’s just Keshia being petty.”

Darius Miles Files For Bankruptcy After Making $66 Million In The NBA

Darius Miles was once a promising baller who made millions in contracts and lucrative endorsement deals. So, why is the former NBA baller filing for bankruptcy? According to Belleville News-Democrat:

Former East St. Louis Flyers basketball standout Darius Miles was a first-round draft pick with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2000 NBA draft with a contract worth $9 million. He starred in a movie with Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds. He landed an endorsement with Michael Jordan’s athletic brand.

Miles is 34 now. It’s been 16 years since the 6-foot-9 forward was drafted by the L.A. Clippers right out of East St. Louis High School.

But injuries, legal problems and bad investments have left Miles asking the court to allow him to sell off his assets to pay creditors. Miles listed $460,385 in assets and $1.57 million in liabilities.

Miles listed a $20,000 child support debt in his bankruptcy. He lost more than $100,000 in 2008 in a California real estate deal. Another real estate deal — with fellow investors former NFL Rams player Marshall Faulk and rapper Nelly — was mired in lawsuits over a Laclede’s Landing property. Newspaper stories wrote about Miles rewarding himself with diamond jewelry.

Potential players should have an agent to handle business affairs, an accountant to handle the taxes, a financial consultant to handle investments and an attorney to review contracts, Foyle said. Players should also find an unpaid mentor. LeBron James, a friend of Miles, has Warren Buffett. Foyle turns to his dad, an economist.

So, how much debt exactly does Miles have?

The accountant is paramount, Foyle said, because of the “jock tax.” Professional athletes must pay state income taxes in every state where they play away games. An accountant experienced with professional athletes can save a player a fortune in penalties and late fees. Miles listed a $282,041 debt to the Internal Revenue Service. He also said that most of his debts aren’t consumer debts, but business debts. Miles owns a single-family home in Belleville with a value of $241,000. His car is a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro, valued at $20,000.

In addition to his Belleville home, he listed 12 other properties he owns, all in East St. Louis. He has a Deutsche Bank account with $49,000 and his son’s college fund with $84,900. He also listed ownership of various collectibles with unknown value, including trophies and signed jerseys, and jewelry.

John Conner III Arrested For Criminal Exposure To HIV

A Memphis dane coach seen on Lifetime’s show “Bring It” is facing rape and criminal exposure charges.

John Conner III whose dance troupe The Infamous Dancerettes often battled Miss Diana’s “Dancing Dolls”, is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old.

Furthermore police allege that he did not reveal that he was HIV positive.

WREG reports:

A Memphis dance coach has been arrested after police say he had sex with one of his minor students and exposing him to HIV.

Last year, John Conner III and the victim met on a social website and arranged to meet up, according to the affidavit.

They had unprotected sex, but Conner did not tell the victim he has HIV, according to the affidavit.

The two had unprotected sex several times and also sent each other texts that included nude photos and discussion of sexual activity, according to the affidavit.

The victim was 16 when it happened, and Conner was 26, police said.

Conner was arrested Friday and charged with criminal exposure to HIV, soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor and statutory rape by an authority figure.

Connor has since responded to the allegations and noted that he turned himself in as soon as he heard the allegations against him. He maintains his innocence.
