Real Housewives of Potomac’s Ashley Darby said fans should expect a few “surprises” and fresh faces on the new series of her hit reality show.
We caught up to the newly minted restaurateur at OK! Magazine’s New York Fashion Week party Sept. 13 at the Dream Downtown Hotel rooftop, where Darby was hanging out with her hubby Michael and frenemy Karen Huger.
The youngest RHOP cast member said she’d just wrapped filming season two, and the show would not disappoint.
“I will tell you that there is definitely some interesting drama that does down between the ladies,” Darby told us. “And you may see some fresh faces. It’s going to be a pretty good season.”
Darby said she was still adjusting to her new life in the spotlight, while balancing her responsibilities running Oz, her and husband Michael’s new Australian restaurant in Arlington, Va.
“It’s an adjustment,” she said. “You put yourself out there, and you see everything that’s happening, and now you have to refocus on the restaurant and what’s happening in your personal life.”
And Darby also said she’s made peace with Karen – her date for the evening – who was her biggest critic on the Bravo show.
“Karen and I respect each other’s differences, and I think that’s important with anyone,” Darby said. “We’re in a social setting, having a good time. She and I have that bond in common where we’re from the same place. We don’t know a lot of faces here. But when we’re in our element, our personalities do shine through.”
Darby said this was her first fashion week, and she and her co-star’s came in town just to attend the party and would be headed back to Potomac the following day.
“I feel like I’m a virgin again!” she joked. “So that experience is always good! Less painful this time. But it’s been very fun.”
The party was literally heaving with real housewives, with Real Housewives of New Jersey Melissa and Joe Gorga, Real Housewives of Orange County Tamra Judge and former eal Housewives of New York stars Jill Zarin and her husband Bobby all making appearances.
Kim Kardashian’s bestie Jonathan Cheban, celebrity stylist Danielle Gills, former NFL-er Kerry Rhodes, choreographer Marcellas Hill and NSYNC’s Lance Bass rounded out the list of notables.

We EXCLUSIVELY reported a couple months back that 50 Cent’s baby mama asked a court to up her child support for the couple’s teen son, arguing that she needs more money to help pay for the kid’s college tuition.
Shaniqua Tompkins has asked a judge in New York Family Court to “modify” her current $6,700 a month payments for Marquise, 19, because she needs the extra money to send him to school among other things, her lawyer, John Katsandonis confirmed to BOSSIP.
“The case is ongoing,” he told us. “There’s an issue of him paying for his child’s education.”
Katsandonis said there were other reasons why Tompkins asked for more support, but he declined to discuss them because the issue is still in court.
“There is a basis – a reason – for the petition,” he said. “It’s in litigation at the moment. Hopefully he will continue to provide for his son and be a good parent.”
50 Cent recently posted a distasteful Instagram photo of a count down clock detailing the time of his last child support payments and his son responded!

The family of Sandra Bland will be awarded $1.9 million for the Texas woman’s death. Furthermore any legislation passed which benefits Waller County must be named after Bland.
The New York Daily News reports:
The family of Sandra Bland, the woman who died in a Texas jail after her controversial arrest, has settled a wrongful death lawsuit for $1.9 million, an attorney said.
The family’s lawyer told ABC13 Thursday the civil suit has been settled, and the jail where Bland died will pay the bulk of it.
The Waller County jail is on the hook for $1.8 million of the settlement, the attorney said. The Texas Department of Public Safety will pay $100,000 — the maximum amount allowed under state law.
The case was scheduled to go to a jury trial in January 2017.
Bland, 28, died in the jail in July 2015, days after her arrest after a traffic stop. A medical examiner, as well as the FBI, said she committed suicide by asphyxiating herself with a plastic garbage bag behind bars.
But Bland’s family has said she may have been murdered, and would not have killed herself. No investigation has substantiated their claim.
Is $1.9 million a fair settlement for Sandra Bland’s family??? It will never bring her back, but hopefully the settlement and the changes to the jail where she died brings them some comfort.

Reality starlet Somaya Reece said she’ll be back on screens soon for a fly-on-the-wall series about her life with her girlfriend, the rapper Lady Luck.
The “Basketball Wives” alum said she’s currently filming a new reality show for a “major network” starring her and her lover.
“As you can see, there’s a camera crew here,” Reece told us after she closed the Tumbler and Tipsy runway show Sept. 13 at Kia Style 360 as part of New York Fashion Week. “It’s a reality show about me and her’s (Lady Luck) relationship, and her and her family’s relationship and the chaos, and it’s all about the music, family and personal relationships.”
Reece said her new show won’t be anything liked her former reality show “Basketball Wives,” and she doesn’t mind being open about dating Lady Luck, because she said it’s the real deal.
“Today she was talking about marriage,” she said. “I was a little thrown off, but I was like ‘okay.’ She’s a great, great person. Her soul shines in the dark.”
Collection designer Michael Kuluva chose the 5’10 curvy stunner to finish out his show because of the way she fills out his creations, Somaya said.
“He is a fan and just wanted me, particularly because I have a curvy body and what I stand for and the fact that I came from nothing and I never gave up,” she said. Also spotted in the Fashion Week crowd was “Real Housewives of New Jersey’s” Teresa Guidice, who watched her daughter, Melania, walk in the show from the front row.
Reece described her style as “1950s classic pinup,” and said she loves to keep things classic so “you are timeless anywhere you go.”

Lupita Nyong’o has a long way since winning her 2014 Oscar for 12 Years a Slave, but the actress still faces haters from all fronts. The actress recently chatted with Vogue Magazine to discuss a Black talent agent who said her dark skin would hold her back from major success. Via Refinery 29:
“I have to deafen my ears to that Christian lady,” Nyong’o said in the interview, referring to talent agent Tracy Christian. In a Hollywood Reporter story in March 2014, Christian said, “Would Beyoncé be who she is if she didn’t look like she does? Being lighter-skinned, more people can look at her image and see themselves in her. In Lupita’s case, I think she has two-and-half, three years. If she can find a franchise — a Star Wars or a Bourne Identity — a big crossover film, or if she’s cast by a significant filmmaker, then she’s golden, she’ll have carved out a unique path for herself.”
Funny enough, she did land Star Wars, but that’s not the point. “She is looking at me as part of the cultural tapestry,” Nyong’o told Vogue. “I am living and breathing. That person is not considering what I had for breakfast, how that is sitting in my stomach, and why I didn’t do well with that audition. I can’t think like that.”

A heated confrontation on a Florida shuffleboard court turned violent when an 81-year-old elderly man allegedly punched a another man then struck him with his shuffleboard cue, according to The Smoking Gun:
The confrontation Wednesday afternoon occurred at the Pinellas Park Senior Center, which includes an open-air pavilion with 16 shuffleboard courts (as seen below).
Police charge that octogenarian Herbert Hayden “had a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation.” Hayden allegedly punched the victim, James Sutton, in the face and “hit him with his shuffleboard cue causing damage to both cues.”
Sutton, cops noted, sustained a pair of four-inch scratches “on the right cheek of his face.” Sutton’s age is not included in court filings.
Hayden, seen above, was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge and booked into the county jail, where he is being held on $250 bond. A judge today issued an order barring Hayden, who lives in a St. Petersburg mobile home park, from having any contact with Sutton.

Two extraordinary twenty-something Los Angeles teachers have won $10 million prize t start a school for homeless youth reports LA Times:
Los Angeles educators Kari Croft, 29, and Erin Whalen, 26, who came up with the idea, won $10 million in XQ: The Super School Project, a high school redesign competition funded by Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs.
RISE is one of 10 $10-million winning school projects nationwide. Winners receive the prize money over five years.
XQ officials, in announcing the winners on Wednesday, described RISE as a “completely new” model. The idea is to have three to four physical sites sharing space with existing nonprofits as well as an online learning system. A bus will also be turned into a “mobile resource center,” to bring Wi-Fi, a washer/dryer and homework help to the neediest students.
That way, if a student suddenly moves or can’t get to school, he or she will have various options to get tutoring or the day’s lesson.
“The model exists outside the traditional confines of space and time,” Croft said.
RISE, which stands for Revolutionary Individualized Student Experience, is in its preliminary stages. It will be a charter school, but the staff is still figuring out governance structure, facilities and partnerships. As of now, the plan is to open with a small group of students next fall, but eventually to serve between 500 and 550.
The competition asked teams of teachers, students and service providers nationwide to think creatively about ways to update high schools.

A drunk driver who suffered terrible burns in a fiery crash which killed three his three passengers, has turned himself.
Terrell ‘Russ’ Barclay’s shocking mugshot shows the 28-year-old wearing bandages and a neck brace, with horrific burn scars covering his face.
Burns were also visible on his arms and neck as he shuffled into court, with the help of a walker, to appear before District Judge Patricia Broscius on Wednesday on charges of causing death while driving under the influence.
Barclay had been more than double the legal alcohol limit when he lost control of his car which smashed into a row of parked vehicles before bursting into flames, in the early hours of May 6 in Lehigh Valley, New York.
His passengers Ashlee Mosher, 29, Amanda Martin, 26, and 28-year-old Joshua Edwards were all killed in the crash while Barclay was seriously injured after he caught on fire in the blaze, The Morning Call reports.
Cops suspect Barclay crashed his car at about 100 MPH. After the wreck, he spent 2 months in a medically induced coma and it looks like he’s gonna spend a lot more time than that in prison.
After turning himself in, he has been charged with homicide by vehicle while under the influence, accidents involving death with a suspended license, drunken driving, illegal possession of a firearm by a felon and other offenses.
What a stupid, reckless, selfish thing to do. We hope the judge hits him with a whole library of books.

An ancient reptile’s role in saving his species is making international headlines.
Diego the tortoise who’s 100 years old, has apparently fathered over 800 baby tortoise by consistently smashing his harem of “sister wive” tortoises.
Diego the giant tortoise may be over 100 years old, but he’s been doing his best to save his species by having lots and lots of sex. Yes, it’s true. Diego, a Galapagos giant tortoise who lives on the island of Española, which is the southernmost in the Galapagos Archipelago, he has fathered an estimated 800 offspring, AFP reports.
“He’s a very sexually active male reproducer. He’s contributed enormously to repopulating the island,” Washington Tapia, a tortoise preservation specialist at Galapagos National Park, told the news service.
Diego belongs to the species Chelonoidis hoodensis, which is only native to Española.
The tortoise has had quite a journey in his long life, including decades on display at the San Diego Zoo.
Dr. Harry Wegeforth, the zoo’s founder, brought Diego to San Diego after one of his two expeditions to the Galapagos in 1928 and 1933, according to the zoo’s website. Flash forward to the 1960s, and the species was declared critically endangered. There were only two males and 12 females remaining in the wild, and a search went on to find others that lived in zoos.
The San Diego Zoo returned Diego to his home in 1977. He then joined his fellow tortoises at the Charles Darwin Research Station.
It was there that Diego proved he’s quite the Romeo. A study done on the turtle population six years ago revealed that this busy tortoise was the father of 40 percent of the new tortoises released back into the wild from the station.

Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross, his girlfriend of two years, are expecting a baby early next year, the star’s rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.
Already a father of eight kids, Gibson, 60, is thrilled to add to his brood.
“Mel and Rose are so excited about the baby,” says a friend close to the couple.
“Mel loves being a dad and he and Rose can’t wait to be parents together. The last two years have been some of his happiest years he’s ever had.”
This will be a first child for Ross, 26, a writer and former champion equestrian vaulter.
“She is great for him,” a source told PEOPLE recently.
“She has her own life, but also seems to enjoy Mel’s … They are very much on the same page.”
