Conservative commentator James Taranto is known for his outlandish left-field viewpoints, but his latest comments are making headlines a little more than usual.

In a Wall Street Journal column published on Monday, conservative commentator James Taranto argued that a “balanced” approach to the college sexual assault crisis involves placing equal blame on rapists and their victims, if both of them were drinking alcohol. The fact that intoxicated rape victims aren’t held responsible for their assault is “self-evidently unjust,” according to Taranto.
“If two drunk drivers are in a collision, one doesn’t determine fault on the basis of demographic details such as each driver’s sex.
But when two drunken college students ‘collide,’ the male one is almost always presumed to be at fault,” Taranto writes. He goes on to conclude that efforts to address sexual violence on college campuses are creating a culture in which “women, but not men, are absolved of responsibility by virtue of having consumed alcohol.”
Taranto has a long history of approaching sexual assault from this perspective. The Wall Street Journal columnist has previously argued that combating sexual assault in the military amounts to an “an effort to criminalize male sexuality” and a “war on men.” In his most recent column, he reprises his concerns that men are often falsely accused of misconduct by women who have not actually been raped.
This sounds like completely bogus logic to us, but what’s your take on Taranto’s comments, Bossip fam?

We think the U.S. justice system is pretty racist to begin with — and the laws against felons voting is just another way to rob black people from being heard — isn’t it? We’re not the only ones who feel this way. Attorney General Eric Holder is currently speaking up about how states need to repeal laws that keep felons from voting after being released from prison and he’s making quite a point if you ask us.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Tuesday called on states to repeal laws that prohibit felons from voting after their release from prison, urging changes that could allow millions more across the country to cast ballots.
In a speech at Georgetown University Law Center, Holder said, “It is time to fundamentally reconsider laws that permanently disenfranchise people who are no longer under federal or state supervision.”
Holder said that current laws forbidding felons from voting make it harder for them to reintegrate into society. He pointed to a recent study that showed that felons in Florida who were granted the right to vote again had a lower recidivism rate.
“These restrictions are not only unnecessary and unjust, they are also counterproductive,” Holder said. “By perpetuating the stigma and isolation imposed on formerly incarcerated individuals, these laws increase the likelihood they will commit future crimes.”
Holder does not have the authority to force states to change their laws, but his request could influence the debate to restore voting rights. His appeal is part of a broader effort underway by the Justice Department to overhaul the criminal justice system, which U.S. officials say often treats minority groups unfairly.
The attorney general said that after the Civil War, laws that prohibit felons from voting were a way for post-Reconstruction states to keep blacks from casting ballots. Today, an estimated 5.8 million Americans are not allowed to vote because of current or previous felony convictions. Of those, nearly 38 percent are black.
The Justice Department said that 23 states since 1997 have enacted voting rights overhauls. They include Nebraska, Nevada, Texas and Washington state.

Mr. Mariah had a night all his own in NYC. Hennessy V.S and Bleu Magazine held an exclusive dinner for Nick Cannon at STK in the meatpacking district of NYC earlier this week. The dinner was in celebration of Cannon’s successful career and longevity in the entertainment industry and to tout his new cover for Bleu Magazine’s March issue.
The actor/comedian wore all white for the classy affair and spoke about the importance of uplifting and mentoring others. Cannon was joined by his longtime business associate Dorian Graham, Henry Polanco from Team Hennessy, as well as several close friends and colleagues. Guests were served Hennessy V.S cocktails, including “The Cannon” named in his honor.

Nicki Minaj’s new music video and accompanying artwork has had Black Power Fist Twitter up in arms for the last 24 hours. The video depicts Nicki firing a machine gun at a “Lookin azz n***a” while wearing a shredded “dress” and pasties covering her nippies.
While many argued that Nicki’s male bashing and oversexed persona was a destructive message to send to the black community, it was the Malcolm X-inspired artwork that REALLY got the 140-character pot boiling!
Either the public backlash became too much bare, or someone in Nicki’s camp decided that a line had been crossed, because just minutes ago Onika took to Instagram to issue this apology and admonished those who don’t seem to understand her message.

According to NY Daily News reports:
A white California man who told cops he’d been shot by a black man has confessed he made the entire story up and had actually fired the gun at himself.
Officers found Brent Thomas Posada suffering from gunshot wounds at his Redding home at 8:18 p.m. on Feb. 1.
The 34-year-old claimed a black man had approached him and pointed a gun at his head.Posada alleged that, when he pushed the suspect’s arm to the side, the gun went off. A bullet struck him in the stomach, he added.
But when police searched the area, they found no evidence to back up his claims, reports Redding.com.
Investigators analyzed Posada’s clothes and found evidence that seemed to contradict his original statement.Posada was recalled for questioning and, on Monday, reportedly admitted to intentionally shooting himself with a high-powered air rifle.
It’s not clear why he deliberately wanted to injure himself.
Posada was not arrested for filing a false police report. But Shasta County District Attorney’s Office will now review his case, reports KRCRTV.
Kudos to the police for not trusting this fool. It seems like too many other times in history cops buy anything a white person say as long as a black person is supposedly to blame.

A pregnant Florida woman who has had two of her children die in her care was arrested Tuesday after she told cops she buried her 2-year-old girl in a Crescent City yard.
Rachel Fryer, 32, has not been charged with murdering little Tariji Gordon, but the mother was accused by her oldest child, a 7-year-old girl, of regularly beating Tariji with flip-flops, a stick, a mop and a broom handle, authorities say.
Cops already suspect Fryer beat her children after finding a text message from late last month indicating she’d beaten one of the youngsters with a hanger, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
“I can’t take it no more my child is retarded. … I don’t know what else to do. … It’s every day all day,” the text message read. “I need my depression medicine ASAP this is too much I’m about to lose it.”
Tariji’s twin brother, Tavont’ae Gordon, died when the two were 2 months old in 2011.
Fryer faces a charge of aggravated child neglect and is held in lieu of nearly $1 million in bond.
The manic mom told authorities she woke up Thursday to find Tariji unresponsive, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Rather than call the cops, she performed CPR and gave the girl asthma medication, but the tot took a breath or two and died.
Fryer loaded the dead baby into a suitcase at her Sanford home and called a friend for a ride. She took the body to a vacant Crescent City home, about 50 miles north, and buried the tot in a shallow grave.
This is the second child to die on her watch! When will this broad be charged with murder?
