For every mega-successful artist are hundreds who never reach their full potential. Since the beginning of time, hype-fueled artists have flourished while others with actual talent failed to evolve into the music icons (or legends) we imagined they’d be. Cruel reality, but that’s life.

2 Chainz is making a much lauded appearance in the June issue of GQ Magazine. Our friends over there were kind enough to send us an outtake from their shoot along with a rundown of their feature.

In June’s Comedy issue, GQ names the “40 Things Making Us Laugh Right Now,” and chief among them is rapper 2 Chainz, whom we crown the “King of Two Liners.” The Atlanta-based rapper’s twisted humor and tawdry, spit-take-funny two-beat punch lines make him more than worthy of the title, and have helped him become one of hip-hop’s most in-demand MCs.

GQ catches up with Chaniz to hear how he’s keeping things fresh on his next album, coming out in September. “There’s nothing new under the sun. Everyone’s sold dope, f***ed b***hes, popped champagne, shot guns,” he says about the lyrics for his sophomore effort. “I’ll take the extra minutes to do it a new way.”

2 Chainz is definitely a funny guy, but some folks are divided about whether his lyrical skills are for real or a real joke. Are you looking forward to Tity Boi’s next project?

Summer Fashion Trends That Aren’t For Everyone

Although it was one of the longest Winter seasons ever and Spring pretty much got completely skipped over, Summer is finally here. And you know what that means? More partying, less clothing and plenty of pure unadulterated fawkery.

As is the case with every Summer season, this overtaking of foolishness will be most evident in the slew of fashion and hairstyle trends that will sweep the nation from Hollyweird down to the hood.

But as the saying goes, everything is NOT for everyone…..and somethings aren’t for anyone. Wale Responds To Rumors That He Slept With Rihanna

Earlier this month, there was a rumor swirling around that MMG rapper Wale was making love faces with Roc Nation songstress Rihanna, with a picture of them in the studio and some very shady DMs fueling the fire.

Wale recently stopped by Power 105 radio’s Breakfast Club morning show while in NYC and addressed the rumor:

On how he responded to the rumor of he and Rihanna sleeping together:
“I was like ‘It got real…’ Just know it turned into a real thing. And I was like, ‘This is gonna mess up my potential working relationships’. You gotta be a sick individual to do that. What if I was in a committed relationship? I’m honest w/ my joints though.

The thing about Rihanna is her realness. I can’t be really cool with a lot of girls. When you have a friend like that, that got more than you, you just gotta appreciate the friendship. You gon’ smoke alot, you gon’ chill, you gon’ dance, it’s gonna be a movie around you. You cant try and smash everything. You gotta have some platonic friends.”

Hmmmm. We can’t help but wonder if maybe Wale TRIED to smash and Rih gave him a “hell to the naw.” Guess we’ll never know. Anywho, good for him for not thirsting after every chick he comes across.

Fox News Commentator Says Women Making More Money Than Men Hurts Our Children

Earlier this week, a report came out confirming that women are the breadwinners in many U.S. households today. Naturally, the conservative base wasn’t too pleased with this news, and now one of their own are speaking out against the notion that it’s acceptable for mothers to have careers and earn just as much money as their men, if not more.

Conservative commentator Erick Erickson earned himself a lot of detractors Wednesday night when, responding to the news that a record number of families rely on women’s income, he argued on Fox News that it was “natural” for men to take the “dominant role” and that women being the primary breadwinner for families is “hurting our children, and it’s going to have impact for generations to come.”

But Erickson stood by his comments on Thursday, first tweeting, “Husbands and wives should play complimentary roles w/ dad as breadwinner,” and then penning a longer piece on the site he edits, Red State, making the case for why women shouldn’t be the primary earner in a household.

“In modern society we are not supposed to say such things about child rearing and families. In modern society we are not supposed to point out that children in a two-parent heterosexual nuclear household have a better chance at long term success in life than others. In modern society, we are supposed to applaud feminists who teach women they can have it all — that there is no gender identifying role and women can fulfill the role of husbands and fathers just as men do.[...]

Feminists and politicians on both sides of the aisle view these statements as insulting to single moms and antithetical to their support for gay marriage. What should be insulting to single moms is for society to tell them they can do it all and, in fact, will subsidize their doing it all. I know a number of wonderful, nurturing single mothers. They do as best they can. Most of them have wonderful children. But not one of them prefers to be a single mother.[...]“

Man Dismembers Mom

According to Raw Story

Investigators in Brevard County said that a Florida man admitted to beating and dismembering the body of his 70-year-old mother after he became frustrated about her failing health.

According to WFTV, Francis Riccio was being extradited from New York to central Florida on Friday on charges of first-degree murder.

Brevard County deputies said that the remains of Francis Riccio’s mother, Maureen Riccio, were found in a drainage ditch about two weeks ago by a cell tower maintenance worker who thought they might be a dead animal.

Investigators believe that Francis Riccio had become frustrated over his mother’s mounting medical issues and was unable to find a facility to care for her. He was eventually located in New York, where he admitted that an argument led to the killing. Police said that Francis Riccio told them that he beat his mother, dismembered her body and then dumped the remains a few days later.

Investigators determined that Maureen Riccio’s body had been left in her home while her son purchased the tools he used to divide her into pieces.

“At one point, the son dismembered his mother in order to make her easier to transport,” Maj. Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office explained to Florida Today.

Goodyear said that investigators did not believe that Social Security payments were a motivation for the murder, but the New York City Police Department was investigating stolen items allegedly sold on Craigslist.

“It can be very hard sometimes to take care of elderly parents,” Goodyear pointed out. “It can be very frustrating, but I think that’s one of the things we sign on for as sons and daughters.”

Keyshawn Johnson tells TMZ … Justin Bieber isn’t just a coward — he’s a TRICKSTER … who switched seats with his Ferrari passenger at the end of his wild ride through Calabasas so he could beat the rap for his reckless driving.

Keyshawn has finally broken his silence about the incident — and it’s clear … the former NFL star is still extremely PISSED at Bieber.

“You got a 19-year-old kid … feeling entitled … speeding up and down the highway … that’s why all the neighbors is mad,” Key says … “You can’t do that.”

Johnson says he personally witnessed Bieber behind the wheel as he blazed through their private, gated Calabasas community earlier his week … but says when he confronted the Ferrari at Bieber’s home, Justin SWITCHED SEATS with his African-American passenger — who we believe to be Tyler the Creator — as they pulled into the garage.

“Look man, I know the difference between a black kid driving a car and white kid driving a car … I got biracial kids.”

Keyshawn says Bieber’s people are goons who are defending the indefensible.

Bloomberg Doesn’t Support Piff Puffin’ Community

New York City Michael Bloomberg lashed out at the medical Mary Jane community during his weekly radio show on Friday.

“Medical, my foot,” Bloomberg told WOR-AM host John Gambling. “There is no medical. This is one of the great hoaxes of all times. The bottom line is, I’m told sticky icky is much stronger today than it was 20, 30 years ago.”

The mayor’s statements came a day after the state assembly approved a bill decriminalizing small amounts of the drug.

Bloomberg quickly added that he had “no personal experience” smoking sticky icky in recent years. But as Gothamist noted on Friday, he has smoked the drug in his past; in 2002 he said he regretted telling New York magazine, “You bet I did. And I enjoyed it.”

Besides his problems with the alleged potency of the drug, Bloomberg said he opposed legalized it’s sales because “drug dealers” would only be encouraged to sell more illegal drugs.

“Drug dealers have families to feed,” he said to Gambling. “If they can’t sell marijuana, they’ll sell something else. And the something else will be something worse, and the push to legalize this is wrongheaded.”

Bloomberg also complained about unnamed prescription drugs with “hallucinogenic characteristics or effects,” which allegedly prompted drug store robberies, although he did not explain how that related to the medicinal version of the drug, which is most often sold in separate establishments.

State Sen. Diane Savino (D), who is co-sponsoring a bill legalizing the drug for medical uses, told the New York Post she was willing to bring patients who need it to meet Bloomberg to illustrate the reality of their situation.

“We’re talking about people with terminal illnesses, seizure disorders,” Savino said to the newspaper. “We’re not talking about recreational use.”

The mayor’s remarks were also blasted by a medical advocacy group, NY Physicians for Compassionate Care. On Thursday, the organization held a press conference announcing that 600 physicians from across the state supported the newly-passed assembly bill.

“Mayor Bloomberg’s statement that the medical version of the drug is a hoax is tantamount to saying that the moon landing was faked,” said a spokesperson for the group, Sunil Aggarwal, in a statement. “This drug, given in oral and inhaled forms, has been shown in large, gold-standard, double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled trials conducted at major medical centers to relieve pain and muscle spasm, and stimulate appetite and weight gain in patients with wasting syndromes. The data is published for all to see and has been backed up by biochemistry.”

Man Murders Gentleman’s Club Manager

According to CBS Chicago

A Lake View man was charged with murder Thursday for allegedly fatally shooting a Far South Side gentleman’s club manager outside a sportscar after an early Sunday fender bender on the Near North Side.

Angelo Bennett, 24, of the 4300 block of North Ashland Avenue, was charged with one count each of first-degree murder, aggravated battery / discharge of a firearm and attempted first-degree murder, police said.

Bennett is accused of killing Charles Jones, the manager of a Far South Side gentleman’s club, and wounding a woman inside the sports car he was driving during an early Sunday shooting in the Goose Island area.

The shooting started about 2:50 a.m., after a 2005 Buick LaCrosse sideswiped a Maserati in the 1000 block of North Branch Street on the Near North Side, police said.

The driver of the Maserati, 42-year-old gentleman’s club manager Charles Jones, was shot dead, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Jones was a manager of The Factory Chicago, a gentleman’s club in the 12000 block of South Doty Avenue, a police source said.

The club posted on its Twitter account Sunday morning, “God called his soldier home … R.I.P. Charles Jones.”

Jones had pulled over after the crash and got out of the sports car to talk to the driver of the Buick, police said.

The driver of the Buick and a passenger then exited the car, walked over to another vehicle and came back to the Maserati, police said.

One of them then opened fire on Jones and a 44-year-old woman inside the Maserati.

Jones was shot in the head and a 44-year-old woman in the passenger’s seat was struck in the back or hip, authorities said.

Jones was declared dead at 3:33 a.m. at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the woman was taken in “stable” condition, authorities said.

Jones was driving a car with Texas license plates, but apparently lived on the Near North Side, a police source said.

However, the medical examiner’s office listed his home address as Miami, Fla.

Bennett is scheduled to appear in bond court Friday, police said.

Taylor Swift At Odds With Neighbors

Stopping to pose with fans as she shopped at Stop ‘N’ Shop and Marshall’s in Narragansett, Rhode Island, last Friday, Taylor Swift looked like the sweet girl next door. But her real neighbors are up in arms about changes that have come to Watch Hill, Rhode Island ever since she bought a $17M mansion on the beach there.

“Now that summer has come and people are getting ready to use the beach, people are really grumbling about having Taylor in town,” an insider tells RadarOnline.com.

“Her property line is at the path to the public beach and she always has guards patrolling the area,” the insider explains. “It’s making it such a hassle.”

At another area of Taylor’s property is a beach wall that local teens and surfers have hung out at for years. But now, “her guards are always asking them to leave,” the source says.

Taylor’s caution is understandable, considering a stalker was arrested for swimming up to her beach house earlier this month.

But, “If she wanted privacy, she shouldn’t have bought a house overlooking a public beach!” the source says.

Maybe Chris Brown can give Taylor advice on how to deal with disgruntled neighbors…not.

Tamar Braxton, Adrienne Bailon, Tamera Mowry To Host Daytime Talk Show

Daytime television is about to get a lot more interesting.

Following the in the footsteps of shows like “The View” and “The Talk,” actress Tamera Mowry will join music industry/reality tv gals Tamar Braxton and Adrienne Bailon in hosting a new daytime talk show to reportedly be called “The Real.”

A new panel talk show with female hosts is entering the daytime space. A syndicated talker hosted by actress-singer Tamera Mowry, singer Tamar Braxton, singer-actress Adrienne Bailon, TV personality Jeannie Mai and comedian Loni Love will be getting a summer trial run on some of the Fox-owned stations.

The exact markets and time periods are still being worked out but I hear the show, produced by Telepictures, is eyeing a July 8 launch.

Titled The Real, the talker is said to be in the vein of The View and The Talk, but with a younger and entirely ethnic panel. (All five hosts are under 40.)

We think it’s awesome to see a panel full of minority women snagging a daytime telvision talk show spot and with Tamar leading the pack who knows what to expect. We’ll definitely be keeping our eye out to see how this works out for these ladies…will you be watching?

Ex-NBA Star Mookie Blaylock In Critical Condition After Head-On Collision

Former NBA All-Star guard Mookie Blaylock was in critical condition at a hospital late Friday after his SUV crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a van in suburban Atlanta, fatally injuring a passenger in the van, police said.

Blaylock was driving in Jonesboro on Friday when he crashed and was airlifted to the Atlanta Medical Center, said Clayton County police spokesman Clarence Cox.

Jonesboro Police Chief Franklin Allen said late Friday that 43-year-old Monica Murphy, a passenger in the van, died just before 10 p.m. Allen said her husband, 41-year-old Frankie Murphy, sustained a broken ankle and was released from the hospital after undergoing treatment.

Blaylock was initially placed on life support at the hospital. But the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Blaylock’s condition improved Friday night and he was taken off it. According to the newspaper, Allen said Blaylock is in guarded but critical condition.

Allen told WSB-TV in Atlanta that Blaylock has had “a history of seizures,” and police were trying to find out if a seizure may have led to the accident.

The 46-year-old Blaylock was a first-round draft pick by the New Jersey Nets out of Oklahoma in 1989.

He played for the Atlanta Hawks from 1992-99, appeared in the 1994 NBA All-Star Game and had his best season in 1996-97, averaging 17.4 points and 5.9 assists

Mookie’s former team, the Atlanta Hawks released a statement:

“We are saddened to hear of the accident today involving Mookie Blaylock and the Murphy family and the ensuing passing of Monica Murphy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of all involved.”
