A teenager in Durham, North Carolina police custody died earlier this week from a gunshot wound to the head.
According to the teen’s family, Sylvia Fernandez called the police early Tuesday morning to report that her son, Jesus Huerta, had run away to use drugs. An officer arrived at the Fernandez home approximately 10 minutes later to inform the family that Huerta had been picked up two blocks away from the home.
Because Huerta had an outstanding warrant for second-degree trespassing, the officer told Fernandez that they would have to take him to the police station.
According to police, when the officer transporting Huerta arrived at the station, he heard a loud noise and jumped from the vehicle, which continued to travel until it ran into a van. The officer then inspected the vehicle and, 911 tapes reveal, discovered Huerta with a “gunshot wound” to his head.
At 6 a.m. that same morning, police returned to the Fernandez residence to inform the family of Huerta’s death.
Naturally, the family has serious questions about whether or not the officer followed police protocol.
His sister, Evelin Huerta, told WRAL that the police have refused to let the family see the body.
“We don’t have any answers. We want to make sure it’s him because we still have that thought, the possibility that it’s not him, that it was a mistake.”
His brother, Raziel Huerta, also has questions. “We don’t know if he had a gun. We don’t know where the gun came from. Why wasn’t he searched? We don’t know when we are going to get the body. What was the cause of his death?”
The State Bureau of Investigation is now in charge of the case, but refused to comment until after an autopsy definitively identifies the cause of death.
Somethin’ smells VERY fishy about this one. How did the cop not see Jesus putting a gun to his head?? We’re gonna keep our eye on this one…

This time it’s the cops who got caught in the act! A Miami Gardens business owner is fighting back against police harassment after one of his employees has accumulated a 38 page rap sheet simply for walking in and out of his store!!!
According to Miami Herald reports:
Earl Sampson has been stopped and questioned by Miami Gardens police 258 times in four years.
He’s been searched more than 100 times. And arrested and jailed 56 times.
Despite his long rap sheet, Sampson, 28, has never been convicted of anything more serious than possession of marijuana.
Miami Gardens police have arrested Sampson 62 times for one offense: trespassing.
Almost every citation was issued at the same place: the 207 Quickstop, a convenience store on 207th Street in Miami Gardens.
But Sampson isn’t loitering. He works as a clerk at the Quickstop.
So how can he be trespassing when he works there?
It’s a question the store’s owner, Alex Saleh, 36, has been asking for more than a year as he watched Sampson, his other employees and his customers, day after day, being stopped and frisked by Miami Gardens police. Most of them, like Sampson, are poor and black.
And, like Sampson, many of them have been cited for minor infractions, sometimes as often as three times in the same day.
Saleh was so troubled by what he saw that he decided to install video cameras in his store. Not to protect himself from criminals, because he says he has never been robbed. He installed the cameras — 15 of them — he said, to protect him and his customers from police.
Since he installed the cameras in June 2012 he has collected more than two dozen videos, some of which have been obtained by the Miami Herald. Those tapes, and Sampson’s 38-page criminal history — including charges never even pursued by prosecutors — raise some troubling questions about the conduct of the city’s police officers.
The videos show, among other things, cops stopping citizens, questioning them, aggressively searching them and arresting them for trespassing when they have permission to be on the premises; officers conducting searches of Saleh’s business without search warrants or permission; using what appears to be excessive force on subjects who are clearly not resisting arrest and filing inaccurate police reports in connection with the arrests.
Police Chief Matthew Boyd released a statement to the Herald that said “the department is committed to serving and protecting the citizens and businesses in the city.”
SMH. This is some BS. And now the dirty pigs are denying any wrongdoing? We hope Saleh wins this lawsuit. Sampson definitely deserves justice!

Sarah Palin publicly responded for the first time on Sunday about comments made about her by an MSNBC host, saying they were “vile” and “evil,” but that they will not stop her from arguing for conservative values.
“I don’t have to accept his words, his vile, evil comments,” Palin, a former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, told “Fox News Sunday.” “So they don’t have to affect me. I move on. And I charge forth.”
The comments were made by MSNBC anchor Martin Bashir, who made a reference to Palin being forced to eat feces. He apologized for his remarks last week calling them “wholly unacceptable.”
Palin canceled an interview with NBC’s “Today” show over the insult, reported first by Fox News.
Bashir also called Palin a “world-class idiot” and took issue with her comments that the United States could become enslaved to other countries that hold American debt.
Palin also said the problems with ObamaCare validate the Tea Party’s long-held concerns about the president’s sweeping health care reform law. “The rollout itself and a malfunctioning website isn’t the problem,” Palin told Fox. “ObamaCare itself is the problem … a road toward socialized medicine is unaffordable and unasked for, unpopular. It’s not workable. That’s the problem. … People have awakened and realize that the Tea Party was right.”

Kandi Burruss is a Real Housewives of Atlanta reality star TV but maybe more importantly she is hitmaking songwriter and a former member of platinum selling R&B group Xscape. But like the TLC vs Pebbles drama has revealed, she too caught a bad record deal the first time out.
Nevertheless, the Atlanta native kept an even perspective about it and didn’t slander her original label home, Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def. According to the “No Scrubs” songwriter, whether her and Xscape caught a raw deal is matter of perspective.
“I try to look at it from both sides,” Burruss told Hip Hop Wired. If you think about, So So Def, they took a chance on signing us. They didn’t know if we was going to blow up. They invested the money, the time and energy; if it wasn’t for that, we wouldn’t have no hit records and we wouldn’t be out there. It could have went the opposite. Maybe it wouldn’t have blown up and they’d just have money down the drain.”
Nevertheless, Burruss recalling that the group allegedly got $12,000 dollars to split four ways when their debut album eventually went platinum is certainly eye-opening to how the music industry works.

Crystal Mangum was found guilty of second-degree murder Friday in the stabbing death of boyfriend Reginald Daye.

Judge Paul Ridgeway immediately sentenced Mangum to serve a minimum of 14 years in prison.
Mangum and her attorney Daniel Meier argued that she was in fear for her life at the time of the murder.
“He was bigger than her. He was on top of her. He was choking her. [She gave him a] single stab wound to the flank,” said Meier.Mangum testified in her own defense Wednesday. She told jurors Daye was angry with her because she had “disrespected” him by flirting with another man.
Mangum said she locked herself in the bathroom, but Daye kicked down the door and grabbed her by the hair, before pulling her into the bedroom.
“He straddled me, hit me, and then he started choking me,” she said. “I couldn’t breathe. My head hurt real bad.”
Mangum said she was afraid.“I was just trying to survive and I felt like Reginald was trying to kill me,” said Mangum.
Mangum made national headlines in 2006 when she falsely accused several members of the Duke University lacrosse team of raping her while she worked as a stripper at a party.
North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper dismissed all charges against the athletes after it was determined that Mangum lied about the assault.

He thought he was helping himself by getting the flu shot and it ended up killing him. Dayum.

A Utah woman said a flu shot caused her son’s death.
Lori Webb put her assertion in her son’s obituary and is warning other families about what she believes are potential hidden dangers of vaccinations.
“I could not believe it,” Webb said. “I never in my life would ever think ‘Your son is in a coma?’ How does it happen?”
Lori Webb said her son, Chandler Blake Webb, 19, was the perfect picture of health and was preparing to submit his papers for a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
However, the day after a physical, tuberculosis test and flu shot, Chandler turned very ill.
Within a few days, he was in the hospital for the second time. Within 24-hours of his second check-in, Webb said her son was in a coma. He had previously suffered from numerous severe symptoms, including shaking and vomiting.
“This was his first flu shot,” Webb said. “He’d never had one before.”
Chandler Webb’s family ultimately elected to take him off life support, and he died after 28 days in the hospital.
“I hate this,” Lori Webb said Friday afternoon before her son’s viewing, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I hate that I have to bury my son.”
Utah Department of Health officials did not go into specifics about the case. Instead, a spokesperson said the department was aware of the case.
Another spokesperson late Friday offered another statement:
“Our epidemiology staff have [sic] commented that although they have no evidence of a flu vaccine (or any other kind of vaccine) causing this type of reaction/outcome, they take these reports very seriously and they are thoroughly investigated by the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention].”
Webb admitted to reporters that not even all the neurologists on her son’s team agree to blame the flu shot, but she also said every test for a disease came up negative.
“They cannot prove any other thing,” Webb said. “My gut tells me that too.”

A fourth student at a California university has been suspended for being involved in alleged racially motivated abuse of a black student, an occurrence that has led to student protests on campus.
The suspension of the fourth student, which followed suspensions and misdemeanor hate crime charges against three other students, was disclosed by San Jose State University President Mohammed Qayoumi in a statement late Friday.
Qayoumi did not identify the fourth student or say whether he might also face charges. The victim in the incident that led to student protests at the campus in Northern California has not been named.
Logan Beaschler and Colin Warren, both 18, and Joseph Bomgardner, 19, have been charged with misdemeanor hate crime and battery against their black roommate, Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Erin West said.
The three freshmen students are accused of using racist terms to refer to the young man, displayed Nazi symbols and a Confederate flag in their suite and once tried to put a U-shaped bicycle lock around his neck, causing him minor injuries when he fought back, authorities said.
Qayoumi said he met Friday with the Reverend Jethroe Moore, president of the San Jose/Silicon Valley Chapter of the NAACP and agreed take several steps to address the issue.
They will hold a news conference Monday on the criminal charges, host a campus forum on the topic in the first half of December and offer a lecture series next spring on diversity and tolerance.
“While these efforts move forward, we are undertaking a comprehensive review of SJSU’s student code of conduct,” Qayoumi said. “Our goal is including race-based misconduct in existing zero-tolerance student conduct policies.”

Jada Pinkett Smith recently caused a stir on Facebook after she posted an “inspirational” status update that to some seemed to be anti-Christianity.
“We are born with our souls, but it is through our experiences in life that we are given the opportunity to discover the paths needed to develop the self,” wrote Smith. “In order to do this we must not belong to the obedient…we must belong to our truth.”
And while over 42,000 people liked the comment, several fans spoke out against her words and ordered her to reconnect with God and study the bible.
“This is not the truth, so many lost souls. We must be obedient to God and follow his will for our lives!” wrote one fan.
“We are to be obedient to God,” added another.
Jada and her family have long been rumored to be a part of the Church of Scientology. In 2008, the Smiths funded a school that taught children under the principles of “Study Technology,” a concept created by the Church of Scientology’s founder Ron L. Hubbard.
