Blacks Are 25 Times More Likely To Be Shot Than Whites In NYC

Black New Yorkers are 25 times more likely to be shot than their white counterparts. According to an annual report released by the NYPD [PDF], 73.9% of all the shooting victims in the first six months of 2013 were black; 21.5% were Hispanic, while 2.8% were white. Shooting arrests paralleled these numbers: 70% were black, 25.4% were Hispanic, and 2.9% were white.

Of the 159,561 people who were involved in stop and frisk encounters in the first six months of the year, 55.8% were black, while 29.6% were Hispanic, and 5.8% were white. People of color are also more likely to be victims of murders, felony assaults, rape, and robbery.

Whites were more likely to be victims of grand larceny and petit larceny than other racial groups.

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly explained the lopsidedness in the Wall Street Journal earlier this year:

In 2003, when the NYPD recognized that 96% of the individuals who were shot and 90% of those murdered were black and Hispanic, we concentrated our officers in those minority neighborhoods that had experienced spikes in crime. This program is called Operation Impact.

From the beginning, we’ve combined this strategy with a proactive policy of engagement. We stop and question individuals about whom we have reasonable suspicion.

The problem with this logic is that race, not suspicion, becomes justification for police scrutiny, which leads Mayor Bloomberg to make statements like this:

For years now critics have been trying to argue that minorities are stopped disproportionately; if you look at the crime numbers that’s just not true. The numbers don’t lie.

She’s a self-proclaimed lesbian who’s married to a man, but former Playboy Playmate Stephanie Adams doesn’t want any “too cute” gals working around her hubby.

In court papers filed Wednesday, yoga teacher Dilek Edwards charges she was illegally fired last month by Adams from the Wall Street chiropractic clinic the former nude model co-owns with her husband, Charles Nicolai.

Edwards’ firing came after Nicolai had warned her in June that his wife “might become jealous” of the flexible young blonde because she’s “too cute,” the suit says.

And on Oct. 30, Edwards claims she got a “frantic,” 1:31 a.m. text message from Adams that said, “You are NOT welcome any longer at Wall Street Chiropractic, DO NOT ever step foot in there again, and stay the F–K away from my husband and family!!!!!!!”

“And remember I warned you,” Adams allegedly added.

Edwards, 32, insists that her relationship with Nicolai was “purely professional” and that she has no clue what sparked Adams’ “absurd suspicions.”

Reached Wednesday, however, she told The Post Nicolai had her give him yoga-therapy sessions to alleviate pain from an accident — but told her that “it had to be a secret.”

“He said if his wife hears about it, she can create some scenarios,” Edwards said.

Her suit seeks unspecified damages from Adams and ­Nicolai, alleging sexual harassment, gender discrimination and unlawful termination.

Adams, 43, denied her allegations and sniffed that there’s no way she’s jealous of the younger woman’s looks.

“No disrespect to anyone — but I’m a centerfold,” she said.

Adams became the first openly lesbian Playmate after being featured as Miss November in 1992 and last year said, “I still identify myself as LGBT,” despite having twice gotten married to men and bearing a son with Nicolai.

She has also claimed to be a “direct descendant” of Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams.

“I can only imagine they’re rolling over in their graves because of the outrageous behavior of their purported descendant,” said Edwards’ lawyer, Maimon Kirschenbaum.

Last year, Adams made headlines when she won $1.2  million from the city over her 2006 arrest for allegedly threatening to shoot a cabby — even though she was wearing skintight clothing with ­nowhere to hide a weapon.

Adams’ lawyer, Doug Wigdor, said Adams filed a complaint with cops after Edwards allegedly threatened Nicolai that she would kill him and his family if she got fired.

Wigdor also said of Edwards’ claims: “I don’t understand how any of this constitutes gender discrimination.”

SMH. Sounds like Stephanie is gonna have to come off some of that taxi lawsuit gwap.

Black Cops Accuse Black Police Chief Of Discrimination

Four African-American police officers claim they have experienced discrimination from their Chief, who is also African-American. Less than one week following Police Chief Ron Davis’ departure from his position last month to take on a higher profile one in D.C., the African-American police officers filed a racial discrimination complaint against him.

The complaint was made on Nov. 1. It alleges Davis, who is African-American, is responsible for creating a hostile work environment for employees who are also African-American.

The officers behind the complaint are Sgt. Roderick Norris and Renaldo Rhodes, and Officers Paul Norris and Paul Hines. In it they state, ”His temperament toward African-American employees is abrasive, belittling and dismissive.” The officers said Davis showed his bias against African-Americans regularly; in his hiring, promotions and assignments.

Assistant city manager for human resources Barbara Powell along with City Council members was the first to receive the complaint.

According to Powell, the complaint is not to be discussed because it is considered to be a ”confidential personnel matter.” However, she also said that action will be taken.

“The city takes this very seriously, and the city will be following up on it,” said Powell.

Davis has been silent on the matter thus far. Officers Hines and Norris are both on leaves of absence, according to the receptionist at the police department.

The complaint is not empty of examples. The officers point to several in their three-page letter to Powell. They claim these examples directly show Davis’s racial discrimination. The examples, include African-American senior officers being constantly looked over for sergeant positions, there being not one African -American detective in the investigation unit, and from the dates of 2005 to 2013, only one African-American office has been added to the force.

To add insult to injury, Davis is also being accused of treating African-American women unfairly. Shortly after his arrival in 2005, the complaint alleges that Davis had the African-American secretary that he was assigned transferred to another city. Also, Davis allegedly hired two African-American women since his time as chief, but both are no longer with the department. One woman resigned and the other was transferred. Their reasoning, allegedly, has to do with the terrible treatment they received while working with Davis.

That’s not it.

The complaint also alleges that in 2011, Davis was informed by an African-American sergeant that another officer within the department had posted the “n-word” on his page. Davis reportedly ignored it. When the sergeant was then attacked by the officer and his friends, Davis still did nothing.

“The examples that have been cited are a minute glimpse into the ongoing suffering endured by African American employees since Chief Davis took over the department,” the complaint reads.

Woman Sleeps With Husband’s Decomposing Body For A Year

Police in Belgium made a gruesome discovery recently when they found out that a widow had kept her husband’s decomposing body in their home and continued to sleep with it for a year after he died.

A woman had been sleeping next to her dead husband’s decomposed corpse for one year until authorities made the grisly discovery this week.

Apparently, 79-year-old “Marcel H.” from Liege, Belgium, died back in November 2012 of an asthma attack, according to Carters News Agency. His wife was so upset that she failed to report the death and continued to sleep with the body until Belgian authorities made the bizarre finding on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

They were led to the apartment because the landlord claimed the couple hadn’t paid their rent since last year. Neighbors never reported a bad smell. The body had mummified.

Cutez Graham Sentenced Over 25 Years For Rape Of Burglary Victim

A man who raped a St. Paul homeowner he had burglarized twice earlier was sentenced Tuesday to 25-1/2 years in prison.

The victim told police that Curtez Deshawn Graham, now 18, was angry with her when he returned the third time to her Portland Avenue home in St. Paul, telling her, “B___, you sent me to prison for 14 months,” according to an affidavit filed with a search warrant on the case.

Graham was sentenced to Boys Totem Town after he was convicted of the first two burglaries, which occurred in 2011. After absconding from that facility, he was sent to the juvenile correctional facility in Red Wing, but he removed his ankle bracelet during a work furlough in St. Paul.

Early on June 19, Graham broke out a window and entered the victim’s home. The homeowner and her male companion, asleep on the third floor, were awakened by Graham as he stood naked in the bedroom.

He threatened to kill them with a pair of scissors unless they did what he wanted. He told the man to tie himself up and he raped the woman, then ordered her to take a shower and wash between her legs.

Graham, of St. Paul, pleaded guilty Sept. 30 to first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree burglary and kidnapping.

What a sick, sick, piece of isht. Good riddance.

Weight-loss cheater! That’s what Kim Kardashian has been branded in the latest report to question how the E! reality star dropped as much as 70 lbs since giving birth to North West five months ago.

“The truth is, she took the easy way out,” declares Life & Style, claiming that Kardashian, 32, has been secretly visiting a Beverly Hills cosmetic plastic surgeon to get work done, including fillers, stretch-mark treatments and a fat-reducing ultrasound procedure on her stomach that costs up to $5,000 a session.

In all, the regiment has totaled $80,000, it’s alleged.

According to the magazine’s insider, the mother-of-one gets the Coolaser treatment, which chills the skin and then uses light pulses to vaporize skin cells — removing wrinkles, scars, saggy skin and stretch marks.

“Kim is desperate to be sexy again. She wants to go back to the way things were before North was born,” the source said.

“She loves her daughter, but she loves herself and her image a lot, too.”

While the reality star’s rep denied to the publication that she’s being treated by Dr. Ourian, insiders told the mag that she’s going to great lengths to keep her visits clandestine.

During one trip to a laser hair-removal clinic, she allegedly pretended to be visiting the Pilates studio next door!

“She even wore workout clothes to throw off the photographers and begged them to make it look like she was going inside to work out, not to get laser treatments,” a source claimed.

Another reason behind Kardashian’s extreme measures to slim down: her upcoming wedding to fiancé West.

Dished another source: “She wants to be the most beautiful bride, especially since all eyes will be on her. All she talks about is losing the baby weight and wanting to wear those skintight outfits again.”

SMH. Well we did see her leaving one of those places recently, remember?

Let’s be honest, if you had Kim K’s money wouldn’t you take a few shortcuts? Besides, it sounds like she respected Yeezy’s wishes and didn’t actually go under the knife!

Adrian Peterson says NFL locker rooms aren’t a typical workplace and that the racial slur allegedly used by Richie Incognito in Miami is heard in the Vikings locker room, but he never takes offense.

The reigning NFL MVP talked about locker room culture with Ross Jones of FoxSports.com:

“You really got to understand the environment you’re in. You are in the locker room with 60 alpha males. Sixty guys who are in the NFL, they are men. So, when I actually heard about the situation [in Miami] it was funny to me because I really couldn’t believe it was taking place in the NFL locker room.

[...] It’s men. There’s no other [place], not even basketball where there’s so many guys in one space. Things like that happen. People say crazier things than just the N-word.”

There’s no tellin’ what type of ignorant isht these guys say to each other in their precious little sanctuary, but that doesn’t make it right.

Orlando Man Attacks Pregnant Sister Over Chicken Nuggets

An Orlando man has been arrested on aggravated battery charges after police say he attacked his pregnant sister over chicken nuggets.

Kareem Gordon, 28, was arrested on Sunday night after the fight with his 25-year-old sister, who says Gordon ate her chicken nuggets without permission.

After arguing, Gordon’s sister went to her bedroom but Gordon followed behind, yelling “I will punch you down.” Gordon then grabbed her by her neck, pushed her into a nightstand, making her fall to the ground, police said.

Gordon’s sister is four months pregnant, according to the report. Gordon said he was trying to explain the incident to his sister but she tried to close the bedroom door in his face. According to the police report, Gordon said he pushed her away from the door.

Gordon, who police say has a previous domestic violence incident on record with his wife, was taken to Orange County jail on no bond.

Nick Cannon Says Mariah Carey ‘Satan’ Comment Wasn’t About Nicki Minaj

Last week, veteran pop diva Mariah Carey stopped by Hot 97 radio in NYC to chat it up with Angie Martinez and she made some waves during their convo after making a comment that working as a judge on American Idol this past season was like working with Satan every day.

Fast forward a week later and Mariah’s hubby Nick Cannon is doing damage control.

Mariah Carey created a media stir recently when the Pop diva made some cryptic comments about her time as a judge on American Idol. Speaking with Angie Martinez the “Fantasy” singer said the experience “was like going to work everyday in hell with Satan.”

The comments were suspected to be referring to fellow former AI judge Nicki Minaj. The two performers had a really public feud that played on the reality show. Carey’s husband Nick Cannon revealed to Access Hollywood that he does not believe the Satan remark was aimed at Minaj or any of the other judges.

“I don’t think her comment was about anyone on the panel,” said Cannon. “I don’t think she was speaking directly about [Nicki Minaj]. I think she was talking about the situation in general.”

Given that Mariah’s comment was in response to Angie’s question about how it was working on American Idol with all the drama between she and Nicki, it was crystal clear who she was referring to. Nicki’s goon squad must have gotten to the Cannon-Carey house and put them in check.

Nice try though, Nick.

2 Children Dead After Being Submerged In Minnesota Pond In Car Crash

It was dark just after 6 a.m. Thursday when a young mother’s car veered off a highway ramp in St. Louis Park and plunged into a holding pond below.

The woman managed to escape, and standing atop the four-door sedan, she screamed as it sank beneath her.

Trapped inside were five young children — three of them hers, two of them her boyfriend’s.

At least one witness and emergency responders tried to rescue them from the 8-foot-deep icy water, authorities said.

It wasn’t until a tow truck pulled the 1998 Grand Am from the pond at the junction of Minnesota highways 100 and 7 that the children could be reached by rescuers, who smashed windows in a frantic effort to free them.

By then, they had been submerged for nearly a half-hour.

All five were unconscious as they were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Two were later transferred to the University of Minnesota’s Amplatz Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.

Before the day was out, two of the five were dead. The others were in “very serious condition,” according to family attorney Rick Petry.

The Minnesota State Patrol identified the children as Aliyana E. Rennie, 1; Zenavia C. Rennie, 5; Amani N. Coleman-Guerrido, 5; Zarihana M. Rennie, 6; and Alarious M. Coleman-Guerrido, 7.

The State Patrol said Thursday night that Zenavia Rennie had died. Later, Petry said that Alarious Coleman-Guerrido had also died.

R.I.P. to Zenavia and Alarious, we hope and pray that the other 3 children are able to survive such a tragedy.

According to People.com reports:

Good things come to those who wait – as has been learned by Kelly Clarkson.

The singer and expectant mom, 31, agonized over being single for almost seven years, but says when she met hubby Brandon Blackstock, she immediately knew her date-free days were out the door.

“Every Christmas, it was like, ‘Seriously, I’m still pathetically alone? Awesome. I’m still telling people I’m okay with it? I’m not,’ ” Clarkson tells Parade as part of a holiday-themed photo spread promoting her new Christmas album, Wrapped in Red. “[When I started dating Brandon], in my head, I was like, ‘I’m already married to you!’ ”

Looking back on past prospects, Clarkson doesn’t see any particular one-that-got-away. But, like Adele, there is one ex who (inadvertently) helped boost her career.

“I only had like three boyfriends my whole life before Brandon, and two of them were good, just not a good fit,” she says. “I only had one real stinker [who] I wrote [music about] and made a lot of money off of.”

But empowering songs about heartbreak no longer seem to be Clarkson’s shtick, given how the very first American Idol winner seems so blissfully wed.

“I bawled like a baby,” she recalls of her recent nuptials. “We both wrote our own vows, and it was hard to get through them, but I did it … Brandon was like, ‘The Notebook ain’t got nothin’ on me – come on!’ And he took me out [on the lake] in a rowboat. It was very sweet. The whole thing was perfect.”

Well congratulations on not being a poor tortured single soul any more Kelly — and enjoy the honeymoon while it lasts because eventually there marriage will present plenty of challenges.

P.S. Why is it always the sucky relationships that get written about? Those guys don’t even deserve it!
