Nike Recalls Offensive T-Shirts After Boston Bombing

Nike has pulled a sports T-shirt emblazoned with the bloodied words “Boston Massacre” in the wake of last Monday’s marathon bombings.

A spokesman for Nike told ABC News the retailer has now pulled all of the “Boston Massacre” shirts from their outlet stores, as well as from large online retailers like Fanatics Inc.

In a play on the infamous 1770 attack on Boston civilians by British soldiers, the T-shirt was created for Yankees fans to highlight series sweeps of the Red Sox in 1978 and 2006 that served to end the Red Sox’ playoff chances in both of those years.

The sweeps came to be known colloquially among fans of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry as the first and second “Boston massacres.”

But in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings which killed three and left scores maimed and injured, the shirt could be deemed offensive.

It’s not the first time Nike has felt the need to pull a product in the wake of a tragedy. In February the retailer pulled an ad featuring Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius with the caption “I am the bullet in the chamber,” after he was charged with shooting to death girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Good call. You definitely don’t want to end up like the competition.

As for their fourth child on the way, we’ve learned it’s a boy. “It’s amazing to have a large family. We are very blessed to be in that position, and we just have to enjoy it,” Amar’e said.

We’re really happy for this couple. It’s been great watching them wed and welcome a new member to the family.

News Anchor Fired On First Day For Cursing “F****** S***” Live On The Air

A.J. Clemente, a rookie news anchor from Bismarck, North Dakota, who has already made a name for himself by having the worst first day on the job ever, was officially fired a short while ago.

Clemente made his own headlines over the weekend after uttering the words “f***ing s***” one second into his first telecast.

According to a statement released by KFYR-TV following the incident, Clemente was practicing his teasers and “did not realize his microphone was on.”

The statement goes on to say that this was “no excuse” for his language as reporters are trained “to always assume that any microphone is live at any time.”

Clemente was subsequently suspended pending review of his mess-up.

It seems now that the station was unable to forgive Clemente his “rookie mistake,” as he just informed his Twitter followers that he’s been let go.

“I’m a free agent. Cant help but laugh at myself and stay positive,” he added. “Wish i didnt trip over my “Freaking Shoes” out of the gate.”

The one silver lining in all of this is that Clemente did not, as was widely reported, disparage gay people on his way out the door.

“I just want to say that I did not say the word gay,” he tweeted earlier today. “I was trying to pronounce the London Marathon winners name Tsegaye Kebede.”

It won’t be the first OR last time that a newscaster is fired for foul language. ESPN First Take moderator Cari Champion was fired from a news gig in Atlanta for allegedly saying “motherf***er” during a live telecast.

Female Teacher Arrested For Forcing Sex On Female Student

A female math teacher in Utah will likely face jail time and endless well-deserved public scrutiny after she was recently arrested and charged with forcing sex on a 17-year-old female student.

A former Utah high school math teacher was arrested Friday on charges of forcing sex on a 17-year-old female student, Fox13Now.com reports.

Courtney Jarrell, 22, who also coached the Riverton High School girls’ basketball team, resigned shortly after she was charged by prosecutors.

She faces two felony charges of object r*pe and forcible sexual abuse for a non-consensual sexual encounter that allegedly occurred at the teacher’s residence.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said, “they allege contact between January and March of 2013, within that three-month period.”

The Jordan School District says no other students have made complaints, and when they learned of the allegation a month ago, the district immediately put Jarrell on administrative leave.

What in the world is going on in all these schools with the teachers forcing themselves on students????

Rush Limbaugh Compares Boston Marathon Bomber To Trayvon Martin

Babbling bigot and right-wing enthusiast Rush Limbaugh is back on his best bullish in the wake of last week’s Boston Marathon bombing that rocked the nation.

In true idiot fashion, Limbaugh took to his nationally syndicated radio show to voice his douche-bag opinion that the media coverage of the bombing suspect mirrors that of the media portrayal of slain teenager Trayvon Martin.

Conservative radio prognosticator Rush Limbaugh used his nationally syndicated show on Tuesday to try and tie Dzhakar Tsarnaev, the captured suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings last week, to murdered teenager Trayvon Martin.

Last March, weeks after 17-year-old Martin was shot and killed, Limbaugh and the rest of the conservative echo chamber spent a considerable amount of time attacking Martin’s character and pushing back against a widely circulated photograph of the teen, claiming that the media was trying to gin up sympathy for the murdered boy.

On Tuesday, Limbaugh compared the media’s portrayal of Trayvon to the treatment of the captured Tsarnaev, citing the media’s use of slightly outdated photographs in both instances:

He said that showing images of Tsarnaev at 14-years-old is an effort to humanize him and frame him as a “normal” or “mixed-up kid,” rather than an accused murder[er] and terrorist.

‘The news media are doing to Dzhokhar what they did to Trayvon Martin,” Limbaugh observed. “They’re regularly showing a photo of Dzhokhar that was taken when he was about 14. Soft, angelic, nice little boy. Harmless. Cute. Big, loveable eyes.”

“Not at all what he looks like today,” Limbaugh added. “The way, when we’re shown Osama bin Laden, it’s in his shepherd pose with his walking stick, walking through the mountains or whatever.”

It’s so interesting how this guy is so quick to point out alleged “similarities” between minorities who are accused of violence but makes no mention of similar media portrayal when the suspects in question are white (see: Sandy Hook gunman Adam Lanza, Batman Massacre gunman James Holmes,etc.)

And by “so interesting,” we mean blatantly racist. SMH.

- Kanye’s $3.3 million Hollywood Hills house is about to be sold — and he’s already moved out.

- Contractors have ripped apart the couple’s new Bel Air estate … the one they bought in February for $9 million … and there’s NO WAY it’ll be ready in time.

So what is a young, struggling couple to do? They’re considering the worst option for any couple … the in-laws. In this case, they may stay with the Queen of F***ing Everything until renovations are completed at the new digs.

But there’s one more option they’re seriously considering … renting a crib for $50k a month.

First of all GTFOHWTBS calling them “homeless.” Do you know what a real homeless person would say if they read this? It would just be cruel. We’ll leave it at that.

Father Uses Baby As Human Shield

According to The Huffington Post

An Oregon father faces a host of charges after he involved his 7-month-old in an altercation with police.

According to a statement released by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Raleigh Reynolds used his baby as a human “shield” during a standoff.

Things came to a head Saturday afternoon when the man, a suspect in a burglary, fled pursuing officers and barricaded himself in a house on Clackamas Way in Estacada.

Deputies surrounded the property, and the man failed several attempts to escape the house.

Eventually, Reynolds came out of the house, holding his infant son in front of him.

Police said the child was positioned like a shield between Reynolds and the officers.

“He was just standing there, telling us he didn’t want to leave the baby in the house, despite the situation,” Deputy Daniel Moyer told local news outlet KATU.

“I believe he was using the infant as a shield.”

Though deputies had reason to believe Reynolds was armed, once they negotiated with him to release the baby, police took Reynolds into custody and found no weapons.

The 7-month-old, unharmed in the incident, was released to family members.

Reynolds is expected to appear in court Monday.

He faces charges of burglary, obstructing governmental administration, endangering the welfare of a minor and resisting arrest.

As Portland TV station KGW notes, Reynolds was also arrested in February after he unwittingly dialed 911 during a drug deal.

Besides using the baby as a human shield, what dumb*** calls 911 accidently during a drug deal? Epic fail!

NYU Student Arrested For Turning Dorm Into Arm Rifle Factory

According to The NY Post

An NYU psychology student turned his Manhattan dorm room into an air rifle factory and was arrested on illegal weapons possession charges Monday, law enforcement sources told the Post.

Bernard Goal, 20, was busted after a startled maintenance crew spotted a pair of realistic looking rifles on his bed while he was out and alerted campus security.

Public safety officers swept the Texas native’s room and found four more Airsoft weapons that closely resembled AK-47s and a black Colt carbine rifles, sources said.

Goal allegedly assembled the weapons with parts he bought online and sold them for up to $500 each, sources said.

NYPD cops arrested Goal at 2:30 p.m. Monday and hit him with six misdemeanor violations of a local law that prohibits the possession or sale of air rifles and replica firearms, according to a law enforcement source.

The weapons fire pellets through compressed air and are routinely mistaken for actual firearms. They have a range of about 140 to 300 feet and can cause flesh wounds at a close range, sources said.

“It’s very scary to know there were guns one floor below me. I had no idea,” said one of Goal’s co-workers, who described him as pleasant and a hard worker. “But knowing Bernard I’m not scared.”

AP Twitter Account Hacked

According to NY Post

Hackers took over the Twitter account of the Associated Press this afternoon and sent out a message saying that the White House was under attack.

“Breaking: Two Explosions in the White House and Barack Obama is injured,” was tweeted by the AP’s twitter account at 1:05 PM sending markets into a tailspin.

In the minutes after the message was sent the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged from around 14,700 to 14,566, but the average regained all of its value once the market realized the tweet was fake.

The Dow Industrial Average took a plunge when the fake tweet was sent from the AP but quickly recovered.

Once the AP figured out that their account had been hacked they suspended it.

“The Associated Press Twitter account (@AP) has been hacked. Please do not respond to news posted there in the last 20 minutes,” the AP posted on their Facebook page.

The Associated Press’ twitter account becomes the latest big name twitter account to be hacked recently.

Earlier this month North Korea’s account was hacked and posted a picture of leader Kim Jong Un on a wanted poster.

TMZ reported that the group who revealed sensitive financial records of high profile celebrities, government officials and politicians online is claiming responsibility for today’s hack of the AP’s account.

The gossip site said the group contacted authorities and threatened to explode eight devices around the White House perimeter if Obama “does not declare war within 24 hours.”

SMH! Some people have too much time on their hands.

Sacramento Boy In Critical Condition After Being Shot At Birthday Party

According to CBS Sacramento

A 10-year-old boy was shot during a kids’ birthday party and witnesses think the boy may’ve been the intended target.

Eric Raya Ramirez is still in critical condition at hospital after he was shot at least four times — in the lower back and leg, say police.

A bullet hole is still in the window at a home where Eric was shot on Saturday night.

“He’s 10. He didn’t do a thing,” said neighbor Kyle Rus.

Kyle lives next door on Whitecliff Way.

He says several kids were playing in the front yard when a black Acura pulled up, a man got out, then pointed a gun at Eric and fired.

“He was aiming at the kid that’s all we know,” said Rus.

That’s when Rus’ twin brother, Bradford, ran out to help.

“They wrapped the one on the leg, turned him over and found three on his back. So they held pressure until the ambulance got there,” said Rus.

Deputies say Eric was at relative’s birthday party during the incident.

Family members who watched in horror as he was gunned down are now by his side in the ICU.

“And they were all in so much shock they couldn’t react.

My brother and my mom were the only people who moved,” said Rus.

Neighbors are very shaken, especially since police don’t have anything to go on other than the car’s appearance.

This senseless violence has to stop!

Lance Armstrong Faces Lawsuit

According to NBC News

Lance Armstrong violated his contract with the U.S. Postal Service and “unjustly enriched” himself by cheating to win Tour de France titles, the Justice Department argued in a lawsuit against the cyclist filed on Tuesday.

The government announced in February it would join a federal whistle-blower lawsuit against Armstrong brought by the troubled athlete’s former teammate Floyd Landis. Tuesday marked the deadline to file a formal complaint.

“Riders on the USPS-sponsored team, including Armstrong, knowingly caused material violations of the sponsorship agreements by regularly and systematically employing banned substances and methods to enhance their performance,” the complaint says.

“Defendants were unjustly enriched to the extent of the payments and other benefits they received from the USPS, either directly or indirectly,” the suit alleges.

An Armstrong attorney called the lawsuit “opportunistic and insincere” and said the Postal Service made money off the cyclist, according to the Associated Press.

From 1998 to 2004 the Postal Service paid about $40 million to sponsor the team for which Armstrong won six of his seven Tour victories. In that same period the USPS paid Armstrong $17 million, according to the filing.

Also named as defendants were former team Armstrong team director Johan Bruyneel and team management company Tailwind Sports.

The government must make the case that the Postal Service was not only defrauded, but also somehow damaged.

We recently reported Atkins aired out her thoughts on Perry’s decision to cast Kim Kardashian to Sister 2 Sister magazine, the star even commented on the fact that Tyler only cast the reality star because of her popularity and overlooked the fact that she wasn’t really an actress.

“I found it interesting that Tyler did that with Temptation, hiring Kim Kardashian because she has 16 million Twitter followers, which would seem like a brilliant marketing plan,” Essence told Sister 2 Sister.

“It’s not a failure, but it did worse than his movies usually do just based on him,” clarified Essence. “I thought that was an interesting finding. Your experiment didn’t work.”
