Republicans Criticize Michelle Obama Appearance During Oscars

It’s starting to get to the point where the GOP goons seemingly have to meet a once-a-week quota of spewing bullisht about the Obamas…..no matter how ridiculous, bitter and flat out it irrelevant it sounds.

Last night first lady Michelle Obama made a surprise cameo at the 85th Academy Awaeds to present the award for best picture to Argo.

Introduced by legendary actor Jack Nicholson, the first lady appeared via video stream from the White House.

While her appearance was well received by the Academy Awards audience, Mrs. Obama has been receiving backlash from conservatives for partaking in the film-industry event.

Jennifer Rubin, a political blogger for the Washington Post criticized Michelle Obama’s speech.

After saying that the “first lady feels entitled,” Rubin added, “both the president and the first lady seem small and grasping.”

Conservative journalist Michelle Malkin and Fox News host Todd Starnes tweeted similar thoughts about the first lady’s role at the Oscars.

Malkin tweeted: “Can POTUS and FLOTUS just relocate the White House to Hollywood and be done with it? #oscars2013″

“Tonight was supposed to be about Hollywood – but Mrs. Obama made it about herself. #oscars,” Starnes tweeted.

Former Republican president Ronald Reagan and former first lady Laura Bush have both made Oscar appearances in the past, but the same critics of Michelle Obama quickly defended their fellow GOP members’ appearances.

In a tweet defending Reagan Malkin said: “Reagan was former president of the Screen Actors Guild. Sorry, did I miss Michelle Obama’s past career in Hollywood?”

We’re gonna go out on a limb here and guess that the Oscar production team reached out to the FLOTUS and asked her to make an appearance; not the other way around.

A Pregnant Kim Kardashian Covers Cosmopolitan Magazine

If we didn’t already know for sure that Kimmy Cakes was toting a gut full of Kanye, we sure wouldn’t be able to tell from this cover photo taken for the Cosmopolitan Magazine April 2013 issue.

The mommy-banger-to-be did the shoot just before her pregnancy was announced back in December and sat down with Cosmopolitan to talk judging her sister Kourtney, marrying Yeezy, and having it all:

Kim admits her easygoing attitude wasn’t always the case, and she confessed she judged big sis Kourtney when her sibling got pregnant back in 2009:

“I was like, ‘You’re not married! How could you do this?’ I was really firm and strict. But she was like, ‘Marriage isn’t what I want.’ And later, I realized she had a better family life than I did.”

And not only has Kim learned life lessons from her sisters, but she’s also grown from her past relationships.

“I saw fast marriages like Khloé and Lamar’s and that was what seemed to work. [Now] I say give it a good six months before you commit. Feelings change, even if it seems so lustful,” she explained.

But regardless of [whether or not] Kimye ever decides to take the plunge, the reality star says she couldn’t be happier in her relationship:

The family of “Selena” star Lupe Ontiveros is incredibly upset she was left out of last night’s “In Memoriam” presentation at the Oscars … despite appearing in dozens of major films over the past 30 years.

Ontiveros — who passed away in July 2012 — had roles in “Real Women Have Curves”, “As Good as it Gets”, and “The Goonies” … but is best known for her role as Yolanda Saldivar, the woman who murdered Selena.

Ontiveros’ son Elias tells TMZ … the whole family gathered to watch the awards show — and was “disappointed” Lupe wasn’t given her proper due — especially considering some lesser-known people were honored over his mom.

You’ll recall, George Clooney did warn some artists might be left out when introducing the tribute, saying, “For for those friends who are on this list tonight, and many others who aren’t, we thank you for the memories.”

Other celebs snubbed along with Ontiveros — Andy Griffith, director Gore Vidal, Sherman Hemsley, athlete-turned-actor Alex Karras, and Sylvia Kristel.

That is a shame for sure, clearly the Oscars folks need to get their isht together. R.I.P. Lupe

Chris Brown Confirms Rihanna Reunion

As if we didn’t already know, Killer Breeze and Rihanna are officially on and back poppington….AND Elton John is giving them support!

Brown was convicted, but Rihanna forgave him and says others should, too. “I met Elton about a year ago, and he’s been a good friend to me,” Brown revealed, adding, “So it is great to be here tonight to support him.” Of the possibility of working with John in the future, Brown said, “Music is music. It transcends everything, so I would love it if we could work together.”

In his book, Davis described the chapter about Whitney Houston, as “without a question the most difficult chapter” for him to write.

He talks about how he discovered Houston at 19-years-old and was there throughout the ups and downs of her career. In his book, Davis addresses rumors that plagued Houston’s early career of her having a lesbian relationship with her former assistant Robyn Crawford.

“I really saw her in brief relationships with men. I do write that she did have an interim relationship with Jermaine Jackson when he was separated,” Davis said. “I know that she went out with Eddie Murphy for a while until she married Bobby Brown. I only knew of Robyn as her assistant, someone she grew up with, since she was a teenager. I just knew the heterosexual side of Whitney.”

Since Houston’s death a year ago, the media has tried to point the finger at who enabled the six-time Grammy winner’s drug addiction.

“I don’t believe it was Bobby Brown,” Davis revealed. “I think they did have a co-dependent, unhealthy relationship with each other. But I would never point to him. I have no idea who her enabler was.”

A black woman writing a book on “The History of White People”???

Dr. Nell Irvin Painter wrote the book “The History of White People,” which raises the question: Can a black scholar write about white people? She’s holding a public talk about that at USF Tuesday night. When we talk about race many times what comes to mind is every race but white. Former Princeton professor and historian Dr. Painter (who is black) switches that around in her book, “The History of White People.”

The book explores “whiteness” and the history of some ethnic groups that are considered white today but weren’t in the past. Dr. Painter is the participant in USF’s Humanities Institute’s first Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence program. Liz Kicak is assistant director of the Humanities Institute. She says the program was looking for a person who had a humanities-based topic but could also apply it to other fields.

“Her background in history and racial studies, and women studies, and art made her a really excellent choice because she is a noted public intellectual and she’s able to speak to a wide variety of disciplines,” says Kicak.

Saldana told us she is proud to be a Black and Latina woman and has no regrets about taking the role. ”I did it all out of love for my people and my pride of being a black woman and a Latina woman and an American woman and that’s my truth.”

Man Gets Shot In The Leg By His Dog

Dogs are out here driving, running people over, and now even firing guns. Might be time to play nice with the pooches….

A Florida man was shot and wounded over the weekend by his dog, who walked away without charges, police said.

Gregory Dale Lanier, 35, of Frostproof, Fla., told police Saturday that he and his dog were in their truck in nearby Sebring when the dog kicked a gun that was on the truck’s floor, the Highlands Tribune newspaper reported.

The gun went off, shooting Lanier in the leg, Sebring police said.

Lanier wasn’t seriously injured, said Sebring Police Cmdr. Steve Carr, who actually said police didn’t arrest the dog because the investigation was pending, the Tribune reported.

In all seriousness, people really need to start being more cautious about where they keep loaded guns. This dog could have just as easily been a child and this story could have had a much worse ending.

Grady High School Student Shoots Self In Leg

Atlanta police tell FOX 5 a 17-year-old person shot herself outside of Grady High School on Wednesday morning, causing the school to go on lockdown for over two hours. Atlanta Public Schools says the person is a student, and they don’t know if the shooting was accidental or intentional.

Police say the shooting occurred at around 9:40 a.m. They say the student was between buildings of the campus, and not inside, when the shooting happened. They say they do not know why the student was on the campus with the gun. Police reiterated there is not a gunman loose on campus.

Atlanta Public Schools tweeted that there are no reports of any suspects on campus, and that the gun has been confiscated. Police say the 17-year-old student suffered a wound to her upper leg, and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

A student tells FOX 5 the gun may have been in her pocket when it went off. Another student says he heard a “pop,” but didn’t think anything of it at the time.

That’s exactly what her dumb a$$ gets for bringing a gun to school.
