Yesterday, a large part of the Black Twittersphere took up 140-character arms (not tiki torches) to ride out on behalf of our semi-silenced sista, Jemele Hill. We say “semi-silenced” because we know good and damn well Jemele isn’t going to stop telling the truth. Damn a Sporstcenter.
Anyway, while we were happy to see all the support pouring in for Jemele, one brotha in particular is WAY too sunken to say what’s right.
For those who are unaware, Strawberry’s probation officer reported that he had smoked crack with some janky jawn from an AA meeting who set him up to be robbed. Just so you know the type of judgement glass d!ck Darryl is dealing with.
Moniece Slaughter is being taken to court over scamming checks. Kind of.
Now, before we judge Moniece too harshly, this man’s story doesn’t make the most sense. So let’s unpack this one.
Apparently, according to TMZ, a man by the name of Timothy Clayton Roulhac-Carr says he and Moniece used to be besties, and he saved her from homelessness by funding a bank account for her.
Now here’s where it gets strange. Timothy claims that Moniece’s then boyfriend, an NBA player by the name of Joe Smith, had access to his checking account and wrote checks in Tim’s name for Monieces rent and expenses.
Now, apparently, Moniece used to date Akon and began dating him once again while still dealing with Joe. This, understandably, pissed Joe off and he canceled one of the checks he wrote out for her — from Tim’s account. He supposedly “made up a lie” and claimed that Tim had robbed him.
So, after all that was said and done, Timothy gets robbed at gunpoint last December. He believes Moniece set him up out of spite, somehow. Oh, and he claims that used her celebrity status “slander” and “gay bash” him. Overall, he wants a restraining order against her.
Of course, if Moniece is out here talking to NBA players and men as rich as Akon, it begs the question of why she would need Timothy’s monetary assistance for anything. And why would the NBA player use Timothy’s account to write checks instead of his own? And if all this was the case…why is he taking Moniece to court instead of Joe?
Of course, the judge couldn’t make much more sense of this story than the rest of us could. S/he ultimately denied the restraining order.

Angelina Jolie and all six of her children stunned on the red carpet in NYC this week. The separated actress stars in a new flick for Netflix called “First They Killed My Father”, and she turned her arrival in a family affair. Shiloh, Zahara, Vivienne, Knox, Pax and Maddox attended the event all wearing matching flowers. “They really help me so much. We’re really such a unit,” Jolie told the New York Times in an interview published on September 13. “They’re the best friends I’ve ever had. Nobody in my life has ever stood by me more.”

According to Us magazine, Maddox and Pax worked on the film as an executive producer and set photographer, respectively. Interesting! Maddox was adopted from Cambodia, where the film takes place, in 2002.

Eva Mendes might be common-law-married to a white man, but she’s adamants about raising their two daughters in an authentically Cuban household.
The actress tells PEOPLE Chica that teaching her kids Spanish and surrounding them with Cuban culture is an absolute must.
Are you raising your kids in a Cuban household?

How so?
Esmeralda mostly speaks Spanglish right now. It’s really cute. She’s definitely bilingual, and it’s really important for us to make sure that she’s not only just familiar with the language, but also with the culture. My mom, who lives 15 minutes away, makes it is easy because she speaks to the girls in Spanish and cooks them Cuban food. And we’re always listening to Cuban music. It really is a big part of our way of life. I wouldn’t have it any other way. My dad, who has been here for 45 years and still doesn’t speak English, is a real asset. It’s so cool because now that I’m trying to make sure that my girls speak Spanish, it’s like, ‘Ok, Dad, take them,’ because I know that all they’re going to speak with him is Spanish.
Can’t be mad at that. No mayonnaise for Esmeralda and Amada.

I’m sure y’all already know about the earlier Hazel E/Tammy Rivera gossip of the day. Hazel tried to start some isht by telling Tammy she looked fat in a picture, and she clapped back mentioning her trying to throw herself at married men….the man she’s married to, specifically, Waka Flocka.
Since then, things have gotten a whole lot messier, and now both parties have posted receipts to Instagram. The Shade Room got an exclusive from Hazel, which includes 6 pages of texts from Waka that took place starting in early 2016. The texts include your basic fuck n***a content, including some heart eye emojis, asking to FaceTime, and then completely jumping out the window with “trynna ride my d**k with that phat ass”…..guess he was ready to risk it all.
Tammy had to come through with the screenshots of her own, which she posted and promptly deleted from her own page. Those included videos from Hazel and Waka responding in a much less excited manner…kinda how dudes switch up when their girl is looking over their shoulder *shrug*
Tammy isn’t really denying that something could have happened between the two in the past, because she can “forgive her husband for all that he’s done,” but not a girl who’s seeking out married men. Interesting philosophy there, Tammy.

Kathy Griffin shaved her head 2 months ago in order to show solidarity for her sister who was diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, her sister Joyce passed away on Friday at the age of 65. Kathy posted the news to her Twitter page last night, along with a video of her sister from the day before, looking peaceful and enjoying a song being played for her live at the hospital.
Joyce Griffin succumbed to an undisclosed form of cancer after undergoing extensive chemotherapy. Along with the sad news of her sister and the video of some of her last moments, Kathy also took the opportunity to post a link to the donation page for the American Cancer Society.
Condolences to Kathy and her family.

The latest celebrity to get their hands on a partnership with an apparel brand is ASAP Rocky. Known now more for his attire and dating life than for his music, Rocky is a great fit for a deal with a clothing brand–and he’s just got his with Under Armour. News of the signing first surfaced in July, and was confirmed by the brand via press release on Friday.
The partnership will come via the Under Armour Sportswear line, which aims to help Under Armour’s credibility outside of performance wear. Rocky is the perfect person for a deal with this line in particular, if looking to improve their credibility. The brand caught tons of flack for their shoe collaboration with Steph Curry in the past…because they were more like orthopedic dad shoes than some basketball ones.
Rocky’s press release about the partnership is as follows: “I wanted more than a collaboration partner. The only way to achieve this is with someone who is like-minded. The Under Armour team, and especially CEO and founder Kevin Plank, has a shared vision, enthusiasm, and desire to do the same. I grew up in Harlem, and had limited resources to channel my inner-creativity, so I spent too much time on the streets when I should have been more productive. I now have the ability to create a better situation for today’s kids so they can go from school to a safe place to create without boundaries.”
Rocky previously had a deal with Adidas where he released sneakers with Jeremy Scott.

Clay Travis of Fox Sports and Outkick the Coverage shocked CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin on Friday after he made a completely unnecessary comment during a segment about ESPN’s current Jemele Hill situation.
It all happened while discussing the network’s decision not to fire or suspend “SC6” anchor Jemele Hill for calling our white supremacist “president” a white supremacist. Travis is a very vocal conservative as well as a critic of ESPN–when asked about their decision he said the only things he “completely” believed in were “the First Amendment and boobs.”
Of course, being a female anchor talking to him, Brooke was especially taken aback. “I just want to make sure I heard you correctly as a woman anchoring this show. What did you just say? You believe in the First Amendment and B-double-O-B-S?” He responded: “Boobs. Two things that have only never let me down in this entire country’s history: the First Amendment and boobs.”
Travis was–for some reason–proud of himself for his statement. Somewhat luckily, the comments underneath his tweet patting himself on the back are of a pretty negative.
It’s unclear if the “boobs” comment was complete ignorance while trying to be amusing, or if he added that in because the person utilizing their first amendment rights, Jemele Hill, is a woman. Either way, the comment was about as funny as watching grass grow and wasn’t in good taste for a serious political conversation.
An employee at McDonald’s was charged with attempted murder for allegedly trying to flush her baby down the toilet after she gave birth in the bathroom stall at work during her shift.
According to San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe, 25-year-old Sarah Lockner told her coworkers she was having stomach pain throughout her shift at the Redwood City McDonald’s in California. After being in there a while, one co-worker went to check on her and saw blood on the bathroom floor. Lockner tried to attribute it to a heavy period, but another coworker entered and allegedly witnessed her shoving the newborn baby’s face into the toilet water.
Sarah reportedly told officials she didn’t know she was pregnant, and is being held on $11 million bail. When police arrived, the baby didn’t have a pulse, but was rushed to a nearby hospital where he remains in stable condition.

The Kenneka Jenkins case continues to grow more and more heartbreaking. With the release of video footage from the night, one would hope that things would only grow more clear, but unfortunately the opposite is true with this situation. The confusing footage shows Jenkins wandering around aimlessly and noticeably disoriented, and some claim that proves that she, herself went into the freezer she was later found dead in.
Kenneka’s mother is rightfully unsatisfied with the release of the footage, especially because there is no video of her actually entering the freezer. She held a press conference today where the general message was: this is anything but a closed case.
For any mourning mother, closing a chapter like this is unbelievably hard, but it’s made even more difficult when there’s so many holes in the story. Whether her friends actually “lost track” of her or deliberately led her astray, there’s something missing in this story that’s making everything seem fishy.
Some insensitive mf’s are saying Jenkins’ mother needs to “let it go,” after seeing videos from the press conference, but if anybody’s going to dedicate themselves to finding out the truth, it’s a mama bear.
This press conference proves she’s not giving up on the truth anytime soon, hopefully this mourning mother can find justice for her daughter and the real story presents itself sooner than later.

San Antonio college student Georgina Mompiere and her family had their home in Friendswood, Texas destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. Her mother and brother were in the home and had to wait in an attic until they were able to be rescued.
Mompiere’s mother and brother later settled into a shelter at a church in Houston, and there her mother struck up a conversation with a woman named Jaqueta Veltz, the two women knew from the choir. They discussed Hurricane Harvey, and Mompiere explained how they lost their home and belongings. Veltz immediately offered to let their family move into the a home she had just placed on the market.
Mompiere said about the good samaritan: “[She] said they could move in ASAP…like, the next day. She’s not rushing my mom on any deposits or rent. She wants my mom to get settled first. She even bought my brother a bedroom set.” Jaqueta was even kind enough to leave some of the furniture behind so that the house could feel like a home after everything the family had been through.

The footage of Kenneka Jenkins’ final moments before entering the freezer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel after a hotel party seems to corroborate initial reports that her death was accidental.
However, Jenkins’ mother is still demanding justice for her daughter and asks for the continued support of those who have routinely gathered outside the hotel demanding answers in the case.

Danielle “Cash Me Ousside” Bregoli, or her now MC name Bhad Bhabie, has officially signed a deal with Atlantic Records. The 14-year-old’s debut single “These Heaux” hit YouTube and streaming services last month, and since then has earned over 21 million views. In a press release on Friday, Bhad Bhabie was cited as the youngest woman rapper to debut on the Billboard Hot 100, “These Heaux” opened at No. 77…….sigh.
According to TMZ, the Atlantic deal is for multiple albums and estimated to be worth millions. Cash Me Ousside is said to have caught the label’s attention due to the “unexpected success” of her debut single…but that’s most likely not true. Usually when record deals become public, they’ve already been signed for a while behind the scenes. It wouldn’t be surprising if the reason “These Heaux” has received so many streams is because of help from Atlantic.
Danielle’s first real venture outside of Dr. Phil was being in Kodak Black’s music video…also an Atlantic artist–so it’s extremely possible that Atlantic has been on her side since the day that girl appeared on TV.
Yo, Atlantic…get your coin. But a multiple album deal? Y’all tripppinnnnnnn’. God bless the employees assigned to roll out her projects.
Did you know that the original Charlie from “Willie Wonka/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” was meant to be a little Black boy?
Liccy Dahl, the widow of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” author Ronald Dahl, revealed to BBC Radio that his initial draft of the book featured Charlie as a young Black boy.
However, his agent thought that might not be the best idea.
Now, Liccy thinks it would be amazing to see his original vision brought to life. Luckily, so does acclaimed director and beacon of Black Girl Magic Ava Duvernay would love to see this as well.

Angry, outraged, and despondent St. Louis residents filled the streets of the embattled midwest city in protest of a “not guilty” verdict laid upon former officer Jason Stockley for the murder of Anthony Lamar Smith.
When it was all said and done, 23 people were arrested and 10 police officers were injured once things went left according to CNN. By all accounts the protest started off peacefully with chants and prayer, but eventually the restraint gave way to visceral violence. Rocks, bricks, water bottles were thrown at officers and a patrol vehicle was smashed (not to smithereens).
Good luck getting Black folks to feel bad about a damn car when the blood of so many Black brothas and sistas has run in the streets with no consequence. Ever.
As if the city needed any more gasoline on their fire, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch spoke to Stockley about his incendiary acquittal.
“It feels like a burden has been lifted, but the burden of having to kill someone never really lifts,” he said in an exclusive interview with the Post-Dispatch on Friday. “The taking of someone’s life is the most significant thing one can do, and it’s not done lightly. … My main concern now is for the first responders, the people just trying to go to work and the protesters. I don’t want anyone to be hurt in any way over this.”
He went on to say:
“I can feel for and I understand what the family is going through, and I know everyone wants someone to blame, but I’m just not the guy,” Stockley said.
Also:
“Every resisting (arrest) looks bad, it never looks good,” Stockley said. “But you have to separate the optics from the facts.”
Yeah, this guy can choke. Black lives matter.

According to reports, Iceland’s government was in falling apart on Friday after a coalition party quit because the prime minister’s father tried to clear a pedophile’s name. The centrist Bright Future Party said in a Facebook post that there was “a serious breach of trust,” causing their withdrawal.
Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson took office in January with his Independence Party, the Reform Party and the centrists. Benediktsson’s father, Benedikt Sveinsson, reportedly helped a convicted child molester apply for a clause in the country’s judicial system that allows those who’ve served sentences for serious crimes to “restore their honor.” The criminal in question is Hjalti Sigurjon Hauksson, who in 2004 was convicted of raping his stepdaughter almost every day for 12 years, and sentenced to five years in jail.
Sveinsson made a statement claiming he didn’t know his actions would do anything beside helping a convicted felon get back on their feet. He said, “what was supposed to be a small gesture of good will towards a convicted criminal has instead turned into a continuation of the tragedy for the victim. For this I again apologize.”
