Wife Of Treasury Secy Apologizes For Out Of Touch Rant
Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin’s batty wife has been rewarded for her bad behavior with a spot on the cover of Washington Life, where she models ball gowns and — wait for it– APOLOGIZES BIG TIME for acting a damn donkey on Instagram two weeks ago.
It all started when Linton posted a photo of her and her hubby stepping off a gov’t jet that had her entire outfit tagged with designer labels. She had more than a few critics in her comments, but opted to respond to a woman named Jennifer Miller, who commented “Glad we could pay for your little getaway #deplorable”… and that’s where Linton really went downhill.
“Have you given more to the economy than me or my husband?” she asked. “I’m pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day ‘trip’ than you did. Pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you’d be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours. You’re adorably out of touch.”
That’s just a piece of her response — it was a lot longer than that. And now in hindsight, Linton is telling Washington Life she’s full of regrets:
“I want to say I concede completely to the comments of my critics. My post itself and the following response were indefensible. Period. I don’t have any excuses, nor do I feel any self-pity. I sincerely take ownership of my mistake. It’s clear that I was the one who was truly out of touch and my response was reactionary and condescending. I wish I hadn’t spoken in such a patronizing tone.”
“I had no place to talk about sacrifice when there are millions of men and women making real sacrifices for this country every day. My husband is very fortunate to be part of the government. It is a great honor and privilege and in no way is his work, or my part in this, any kind of sacrifice.”
Linton also extended an apology to Miller, saying she hoped they could find some common ground to work together in the future:
“I would ask her about the causes that are important to her and perhaps find something that we could work on together in the spirit of unity and love.”
According to NY Daily News reports, Miller was amenable to Linton’s invitation.
“I would be so happy to do that. I would be very happy to work with her on any number of things that we might find that we care about and have in common,” Miller said. “Many strangers have found me, I’m sure she could do the same. I’ve made so many new friends.”
There’s a lot more in the cover story — including how Linton’s childhood included weekend jaunts to the family castle in Scotland… Yeah… And she also claims that she was trying to reflect a persona that really isn’t her. The real her is a “no makeup girl” who wears sweats and leggings… Riiiiight. But she defends wearing ball gowns in the magazine saying, “I see the irony of making an apology in a ball gown! But it would be dishonest to proclaim that I’m never going to go to another social function. That’s also part of my life.”
