Let’s get this out of the way first: LeBron James, regardless of his actual skill on a basketball court, deserves more adoration and respect than Michael Jordan for being someone willing to speak about racism in America.

Michael Jordan strayed away from politics, opting to infamously insist that Republicans buy sneakers too. Jordan was silent during the L.A. Riots. Dismissive while black bodies lay slain in the streets, boys in socks killed over a pair of Jordans. We need to be able to face and confront the fact that Jordan failed black people, and repeat that fact with the same fervor that we use to defend his status as the greatest basketball player of all time.

LeBron James has spoken out about Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown and now, with the biggest NBA Finals of all time looming, he’s had to speak about racism that’s quite literally greeted him at his own doorstep.

Some time in the last few days, LeBron James had to Facetime his kids from his Bay Area hotel as he prepares for the NBA Finals. He had to explain to them why someone spray-painted NI**ER on their Los Angeles front gate.

Of course LeBron James is familiar with being the target of racism. He remembers the overseer-like letter of disappointment Cavs owner Dan Gilbert sent when James made his decision to go to Miami. He still grits his teeth when Phil Jackson calling his team of businessmen a “posse” is brought up. He knows what it’s like to hear slurs when he’s on the court, raining down from fans who ironically paid an exorbitant amount of money to see him. And he lives in an era where videos of police killing unarmed black people has become as constant as knowing the White House is currently overrun by white supremacists and racists.

The Akron-native was born into an environment in which the country would be happy to label him a ni**er. He was poor. He didn’t know his father. And if he were gunned down at the age of 12 by cops who saw him as a threatening adult the country would simply justify his death and move on. If LeBron James never played basketball and instead waited tables, he would be that ni**er who got an order wrong. If he held up a gas station he would have been a ni**er who deserved to go to jail. But he’s not. Things should be different, right?

LeBron James is the type of black man that we’re told doesn’t face racism anymore. Respectability politics say that LeBron James is above prejudice. He pulled himself up by his bootstraps and became a multimillionaire. A businessman. A one-man conglomerate. And in his 14 years in the NBA his biggest scandal was choosing to go play for a different team in 2010 — a televised event whose proceeds went to charity. He’s the black man who’s held up to a standard of exception. If we were all like LeBron James we would escape being killed by cops, going to jail and certainly being called ni**ers.

Except. That’s all bullsh*t. Racism doesn’t care about circumstance. Racism is a meritless killer, seeing only color and violence. Even as I write this, I find out that someone left a noose at the National Museum of African-American History and Culture. The type of place black kids have been told to pull their pants up and attend more often. There’s no escape. There never has been, especially in this iteration of America. They will call us ni**ers no matter what we do, and contrary to what we have been told, they will call us ni**ers louder the more successful we become. Denying this fact is lying to ourselves about the country we live in.

In a few short hours, LeBron James will embark on a campaign to win the NBA Finals and maybe become the greatest basketball player of all time. And no matter how great he is, he will still be considered a ni**er by a wide swath of people in this country. Yet and still, he’ll stand tall and call himself King James. Because black greatness isn’t for them. It’s for us and their words can’t do a damn thing about it.

Kim Kardashian’s Rep Denies Claims She And Kanye West Recently Separated

Here we go again. Kim and Kanye West have been battling divorce rumors for some time now and the latest reports from Life & Style magazine aren’t going to help matters much! The tabloid claims the couple recently separated for a six week trial basis.

“They want you to think that Kanye just needed a break from fame and Hollywood,” a Kanye insider tells Life & Style. While he did want time away from the spotlight, “he also wanted a break from Kim and his life with her.”

“Friends worried the split would become permanent,” notes a source. “But she really wanted to give their marriage one more shot. She hopes the trial separation will make them realize how much they do love each other.”

One more shot eh? Not so fast though. L&S also acknowledges that Kim’s publicist has denied this report.

BUT they insist the couple is now just trying to hold things together.

“They’re trying to make it work,” the source tells Life & Style, “but there are a lot of problems between them. It’s an ongoing struggle.”

SMH. What marriage — sh** — relationship period — isn’t an ongoing struggle?

Kim and Kanye will be okay. They not about to let Jay Z and Beyoncé beat them at marriage too.

Obama’s Buy $8.1 Million D.C. Mansion

The Obama’s seem to be making D.C. a more “permanent” residence. After sticking around for daughter Sasha to finish high school, they look like they’ve decided to stay. Michelle and Barack just invested $8.1 Million in a D.C. area mansion according to Yahoo News.

The Obamas paid $8.1 million to buy the mansion in a neighborhood called Kalorama. They have been renting the property since January, Yahoo news reported .

A little fun fact about the eight-bedroom, nine-and-a-half-bath home– it’s in the same neighborhood as the home of President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner. There’s no telling if the Obama’s will likely retire in the area, but they will be around for at least another year and change, according to what their spokesman tells Yahoo.

“Given that President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property.”

TI And Kevin Hart Producing Showtime Comedy Series

If you were wondering what Tip has planned after putting an end to his family’s hustle…Kevin Hart has the answer.

The two tiny titans have teamed up to create a new original show for Showtime. “The Studio” will focus on the daily and nightly circumstances and antics that take place inside a Hip Hop music studio. Described as “a music-themed office comedy,” the comedy will poke fun at the conversations and characters that pop up on the late night as rappers and singers record their work.

According to Deadline, both TI and Kevin are expected to make occasional guest appearances on the program.

The pair has also recruited Ayesha Carr, best known for her work on “Everybody Hates Chris,” to take the reigns with the writing. Carr also has credits on comedy hits like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The Carmichael Show,” so clearly she knows what she’s doing.

Sounds kind of like “Entourage,” don’t you think? We’re thinking this might be pretty hilarious. Will you tune in?

Jason Whitlock puts his crusty toes in his mouth again after commenting on LeBron James. The NBA baller recently learned that his L.A. crib was vandalized with the word “n**ger” painted on the gate. LeBron commented on the incident, saying “being black in America is tough.”

Jason suggests that LeBron is suggest exaggerating his experiences, because “he’s rich”. Oh really???

Whitlock said “He allegedly had the n-word spray-painted on his $20 million Brentwood home. He wasn’t there. His family wasn’t there. He heard about it.”

Rob Kardashian Confirms Whether Or Not He’s Dating Mehgan James

Rob Kardashian caused a stir yesterday when he seemingly kicked his on-again-off-again boo Blac Chyna to the curb for her BGC turned BBWLA clone, Mehgan James.

While their relationship allegedly was already causing a frenzy in the Kardashian household and putting Mehgan’s name out there more and more…Rob was apparently just hearing about his “new girlfriend” for the first time.

Rob took to Twitter and IG to let the world know that he doesn’t even know who TF this “Megan something” person is…

Hmm. Welp, so much for that…if you believe Rob’s tweet, of course.

No one’s actually seen these two anywhere together, and Rob was too hype to hit the streets with his last romantic adventure…so we’re guessing there’s a chance that this “new relationship” the bag of lies Rob says it is.

But who’s the anonymous source that threw Mehgan’s name out there as Rob’s boo like that? Seems kind of…random.

Aussie Flight Crew Comes Together To Detain Crazed Passenger Screaming “Bomb” Threats

Some guy bugged out on a flight to Kuala Lumpur, leaving passengers SHOOK, but the crew apprehended him.

A Malaysian Airlines flight leaving out of Melbourne had to turn around after a passenger attacked a member of the flight crew and threatened to “blow it up”.Yahoo News reports that the passenger had been carrying an object on board. That’s when he attempted to enter the cockpit shouting he had a bomb, authorities and witnesses said on Thursday. ‘About 30 minutes into the flight a male passenger attacked a female member of the cabin crew who screamed for help’ a witness said in the report. Some of the crew grabbed the guy and tied him down with seat belts as the flight was turned around.

Armed police boarded the plane when it landed back in Melbourne, taking the man who has to appear in court next week over the incident. Australian police said they did not believe the incident was linked to terrorism. They reported that the man had mental health issues. A device carried by the man as he shouted threats was not dangerous.  It appeared to be a bluetooth speaker device.

He was free to fly just hours after his release.

Laura Govan’s House Robbed For Over $700,000 In Valuables

Laura Govan is the newest member of the “celebrity homes in L.A. get ganked” club according to TMZ.

The nipple-baring reality star came home from vacation to a totally upended house with approximately $700,000 worth of her personal belongings missing.

Word is the crooks skated off with $98,000 in cash (Laura caking like THAT??) and another $615,000 in jewelry which allegedly included a $50,000 Rolex.

As for the obvious question of why Laura didn’t have an alarm system…she says she has one but it wasn’t activated so that her house-sitter could come and go. Our question is, why the hell wouldn’t the house-sitter have the code? Would this person have to leave the house unattended at SOME point during the day?

To make Laura’s poor security issues even worse, a motion sensor detected movement at her home around 1am, which is consistent with a neighbor’s statement that a dog was heard barking around that time. Problem is, there is no video footage saved because the cameras aren’t linked to cloud storage.

So, to recap, Laura Govan somehow has 100-grand in cash and more than half-a-mil in jewels, but is too cheap for proper security of said items.

T.I. Shades Tiny Over Their Divorce

Even after the season finale of their reality show, it looks like there’s new trouble brewing between T.I. and Tiny off camera.

On “The Family Hustle” viewers saw Tip compare his cheating on Tiny with a woman she hired, to her befriending “someone he was at odds with” a.k.a. Floyd Mayweather.

T.I.: “You done had yo s*** where you was out with this motherf*** dude you know I don’t f*** with.

Tiny: As a couple?

T.I.: “You was at his house. You was in his house…”

Tiny: “When? We wasn’t together! Don’t speak on it as though you know what you’re talking about like, ‘I know 100% she slept with [redacted].’ How do you know that?! Cause you seen me dancing? You don’t know.”

Now Tip’s got more to get off his chest; “I walked away because you were too busy finding faults in me, while I was too busy overlooking yours,” wrote the Hustle Gang head.

Reaaaaaally Tip? Didn’t Tiny file for divorce, not the other way around?

And while Tiny’s yet to respond, people are BIG mad in T.I.’s comments.

“I watched that finale and you have SOME nerve,” wrote one.

“Didn’t you just say you never want to show any shame to her?? Just WTF do you think this is?” added another.

Jesus Take The Wheel: 35 Killed, Over 70 Injured After Attempted Robber Sets Fire To Filipino Casino Before Burning Himself To Death

This story is downright crazy! Our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones in Manila after a man barged into the Resorts World casino in Manila and began dousing tables with gasoline before setting them ablaze — ultimately killing 35 people and injuring more than 70 others after he attempted to make off with over $2 million in casino chips. The man fled to a nearby hotel room where he committed suicide by setting himself on fire. ISIS attempted to take credit for the attack on social media, however, authorities in the Philippines say it’s unlikely that this was a terrorist incident.

According to CBS News reports:

“Initial findings of police investigation of the Resorts World incident this morning, 2nd of June 2017 Thursday (Friday) show that there are no indications of terrorist activity,” Secretary Ernesto Abella, Philippine presidential spokesperson, said. “All indications point to a criminal act by an apparently emotionally disturbed individual.”

“Either he lost in the casino and wanted to recoup his losses or he went totally nuts,” said Metropolitan Manila police chief Oscar Albayalde. While an Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS)-linked Filipino said on social media that “lone wolf soldiers” of the Islamic State group were behind the attack, police noted the man didn’t shoot anyone he encountered. The only gunshot wound was a guard at the complex who accidentally shot himself, authorities said.

“He would have shot all the people gambling,” if his goal was terrorism, national police chief Ronald dela Rosa said. None of the bodies had gunshots, authorities said.

Police saw no connection to nearly two weeks of fighting with Muslim militants aligned with the Islamic State group in the southern city of Marawi.

Security footage shows the gunman ignoring a guard who tried to stop him at the entrance of the resort, then he is pictured heading into the casino, according to dela Rosa. After stuffing a a backpack with stolen gambling chips, the gunman fired his assault rifle at TV screens and began pouring gasoline onto the gaming tables from a 2-liter bottle he carried before setting them on fire.

The man responsible for the attack was describled by dela Rosa as about 6 feet tall, “white, with a mustache,” and English speaking. As guests and employees of the casino attempted to escape the flames, the gunman headed to a room on the 5th floor of Maxims Hotel at the resort, forcing his way in. Police say he then laid down on the bed, covered himself with a blanket before pouring gas on himself and setting himself on fire. He was not carrying any identification, according to police.

Cops believe his motive was to make off with the bag of chips, which had an estimated value of over $2million. That bag was found in the toilet.

Meanwhile Cheeto seems to have conveniently embraced the ISIS claims of responsibility. He offered thoughts and prayers to the victims from the White Houe Rose Garden, saying “It is really very sad as to what’s going on throughout the world with terror.”

SMH. Can’t blame everything on terrorism as hard as they try. It will be interesting what comes out about the identity of the white guy with the stache who wreaked all this havoc. Not that we can trust whatever they do come up with.
