Blac Chyna appeared to be in good spirits as she was stepped out Saturday to run errands at Chase Bank in Los Angeles. We’ve been really trying to avoid feeling any type of positive vibes for Casey Affleck for a number of reasons, one of them being that he’s a relative of Ben Affleck’s who definitely reaps plenty of the nepotistic benefits of being Ben’s little brother, another being that he’s pretty much the only thing standing in the way of Denzel getting a Best Actor Oscar tonight for “Fences” and the last being that he hasn’t been half as clumsy as Nate Parker when maneuvering around questions about his shady past which includes sexual assault allegations, but clearly the guy is trying to redeem himself and after the speech he gave at the Independent Spirit Awards Saturday night we may even have to watch ‘Manchester By The Sea’ finally.
After all — besides slamming Donald Trump’s policies for being un-American he also quoted our director homie Ezra Edelman’s mom — Marian Wright Edelman, who is a national treasure and an absolute HERO of a black woman (she founded the Children’s Defense Fund). Edelman last week penned a beautiful op-ed for the Huffington Post which discussed how the family of Frederick Douglass stepped up following President Trump’s Black History Month breakfast blunder to remind the country of his legacy. In that piece, Edelman called this a “time to struggle for the future of the soul of our nation.”
“I know this feels preachy and boring and I’m preaching to the choir but I’m just lending my little voice to the chorus here,” Affleck added. “And saying that all of you, [if] you are struggling, you’re doing it so, so well and speaking up and I’m really proud to be a part of this community for that reason.”

As previously reported the internet exploded when Remy Ma released ShETHER where she blasted Onika Maraj for “protecting” her accused child molester brother, for having exploding azz shots and for allegedly smashing Drake, Wayne and Hot 97’s Ebro.
Remy also brought up Nicki’s ex Safaree Samuels and noted that she needs his ghostwriting to get online.
“You a Internet troll, a Web browser, I’m sorry/You can’t get her online without Safaree,” rapped Remy.
Now Safaree’s responding and it’s exactly what you’d expect from the “Love & Hip Hop Hollywood” star.
Safaree started by promoting his “Stunt Gang” and added that he’s “turning his phone off for the rest of the day” with some laugh emojis.

The Spirit Awards were held on Saturday and they set the tone for all types of Black Excellence sure to be coming our way on Oscar Sunday. We were excited to see Kerry Washington post up for photos with Janelle Monae. Both ladies looking absolutely stunning and gorgeous in every way. Kerry’s hubby Nnamdi Asomugha also made a rare appearance at the event.
Taraji P. Henson looked beautiful as always. She’s become such a pro at always showing up looking stunning.
We love to see Ruth Negga on a carpet. She did such an amazing job in “Loving.”
Relative newcomer Sasha Lane also made a big statement at the awards in her Black Lives Matter jersey. Sasha is the star of “American Honey” which also starred Shia Labeouf
Sasha is multi-racial. Her dad is black and mom is part Maori from New Zealand.

Mahershala Ali and Viola Davis won BIG tonight at the Oscars and people couldn’t be more elated.
During the 89th Academy Awards, Mahershala beat out Michael Shannon for “Nocturnal Animals” and Jeff Bridges for “Hell or High Water” to take him the gold for his portrayal of drug dealer Juan in “Moonlight.”
“I had so many wonderful teachers and they taught me it wasn’t about you — it’s about these characters you’re serving and I’m so blessed to have this opportunity,” said the humble actor while getting his trophy.
His win made him the FIRST Muslim actor in history to ever win an Oscar.
Later, Viola won Best Supporting Actress, beating out fellow black girl magic mavens Octavia Spencer for “Hidden Fences” and Naomie Harris for “Moonlight.”
“I became an artist, and thank god I did, because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life,” said Viola who was moved to tears. “So here’s to August Wilson, who exhumed and exalted the ordinary people.”
Twitter was of course on fire to see these two actors get their just due.

An everyday man who managed to stumble upon the 89th Academy Awards is now a star. After host Jimmy Kimmel managed to get a bus full of tourists to stop at the Dolby Theater, patrons were shocked to discover that they were at the big show.
No one was more excited however then lengthy short wearing/purple cell phone having Gary Allen Cole from Chicago who was there with his fiance Vicky.
The couple was “married” by Denzel Washington…
and when Kimmel noted that he was seemingly “ignoring all the white celebrities”, a very honest Gary admitted, “I am.”

“She was telling people they’ll know the genders of the babies in two weeks,” a source at the party told Page Six.
Bey has not stated her due date, but genders can usually be revealed between 16 and 20 weeks. They can also be chosen in cases of in vitro fertilization — so it’s possible that Bey was just giving nosy guests a made-up answer.
Beyoncé and Jay Z were surprise guests at the bash Weinstein threw Saturday, where Weinstein announced Jay Z will be working with him and Lin-Manuel Miranda as a producer on the film version of “In The Heights.”
One of the highlights of the evening was when Miranda introduced a performance medley from “In The Heights” with Cynthia Erivo, Chris Jackson and Corbin Bleu singing for guests but because the coupled up Carters arrived in the middle of the set, Weinstein had the singers stay on stage and perform the the first five minutes again. Nicole Scherzinger also performed SIA’s “Never Give Up” from ‘Lion”s soundtrack.
Besides, Bey and Hov other guests included “Lion” stars Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman, Kelsey Grammer, Diane Warren, David Foster, Salman Rushdie, Matthew Morrison, Georgina Chapman, Alyssa Milano, Lin Manual Miranda, Zac Posen, Tracee Ellis Ross, Garth Davis, Edgar Ramirez, Petra Nemcova along with the stars of Harvey’s Broadway smash hit Finding Neverland Matthew Morrison and Kelsey Grammar. Guests were served three specialty Grey Goose cocktails – including Les Visionnaires, Le Cinématique and Le Fizz during the cocktail hour. The fun continued at dinner as celebs attempted to pour pre-batched Le Fizz cocktails from Grey Goose magnum bottles filled to the brim, often with hilarious results. After the show and dessert, Jay and Bey headed to an after-party at the hotel and were joined by Mick Jagger.

Ebro Darden of Hot 97 wants the world to know the truth about him and Nicki Minaj.
The “Ebro in the Morning” host was thrust into controversy this weekend after Remy Ma dropped her “ShETHER” diss track and claimed that he and Nicki had sex.
“Only time you touch a trigga is when you f***d Trey Songz/Coke head, you cheated on your man with Ebro/I might leak the footage of you sniffing them ski slopes,” rapped Remy.
Now Ebro’s clearing things up and according to him, it’s just simply not true.
“Remy knows she’s lying…matter of fact the dude that told her that bulls**, she knows is a nerd!” said Ebro. “These nerd as [sic] dudes always worried.”
He also denied that members of his family were mad about the claim.
Hmmmmm.
Unfortunately for him however, Remy’s husband Papoose was ready and waiting to shut down Ebro for lying.

If you haven’t gone to see Jordan Peele’s masterpiece movie “Get Out”, then you’re playing yourself in the worst way.
Not only is it an incredible film, but it’s making money. BIG money.
According to USAToday, the damn-near-perfect reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations have lead to a $30.5 million opening weekend!
But here’s the cherry on top, “Get Out” only cost $4.5 million to make. In money obsessed Hollyweird production system, that will earn Jordan LOTS of kisses on the a$$.
Even without Peele in the film, audiences turned out in droves to experience the high-concept horror movie. According to exit polls, African Americans comprised an estimated 39% of the opening weekend audiences, while Caucasians made up 36%. A whopping 49% were under age 25.
“Social media is going to keep this movie front and center,” says Paul Dergarabedian, comScore senior media analyst, who predicts the film will have staying power.

While the world was looking aghast at Halle Berry’s Freetress Shake-N-Go Oscars wig, the celeb was explaining her “romantic look” on the red carpet.
Halle took some time to speak with VOGUE on the carpet about her blush pink Atelier Versace dress and added that she was rocking her “wild and free” natural hair.

“I have always marched to the beat to my own drum, and I think this red-carpet look encapsulates that,” said Berry. “The dress is glamorous with a sense of romance that made me feel feminine and fresh. With this look, I celebrate my natural hair by allowing it to be wild and free.”
Unfortunately for Halle people weren’t convinced that her surprisingly stiff kanekalon contraption was real, so she got relentlessly roasted—again.

You know isht is real when a former CIA director who served for over 20 years for both Democratic and Republican administrations is speaking up about how the White House is effing up BIG TIME.
Former CIA Director John Brennan was on “Face The Nation” this weekend — his very FIRST media interview since leaving the CIA and he said that he doesn’t have any reason to believe Trump’s travel ban will make the U.S. any safer than before.
“I don’t think the travel ban is going to help in any significant way,” Brennan told CBS’ “Face the Nation” in his first media interview since leaving the CIA.
Brennan spoke about the Department of Homeland Security’s report released last week, which found that citizens of the seven countries included in the travel ban are “rarely implicated” in U.S.-based terrorism.
“I do think that report puts its finger on it by saying that citizenship is not the indicator of a potential terrorist action,” he said, adding that “the vetting process that needs to go on has to take into account multiple factors, not just countries of origin or where they may be departing from.”
Brennan added that the ban is a terrible look for the US.
“It sends a very bad message to individuals that are being singled out because of their nationality,” he said, adding that it gives a “clear impression” that the Trump administration is placing its focus on Muslims.
Brennan also addressed reports that White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus asked FBI Director James Comey to publicly dispute reports about Trump’s staff being in contact with Russia and Brennan admitted that previous administrations never had any requests of this kind.
“The White House needs to understand that the interaction with the FBI on criminal investigations is something that really they need to steer clear of,” he said, both because of the “impropriety of doing it, but also the appearance… that there might be some unwarranted interference.”
“I never did that on behalf of the White House request,” he said. “And the White House never made a request of me in that regard.”
The interview is worth watching in full. SMH. Trump needs to be impeached. He and his woefully unprepared and unqualified administration are a danger to all of us.
