Should The Congressional Black Caucus Let An Afro-Latino Into Its Ranks?

Should a Latino be allowed to join the Congressional Black Caucus?

According to an article in last week’s Politico entitled “Black Caucus chafes at Latino who wants to join,” that’s the million dollar question currently being debated, albeit silently, by Caucus members on the Hill.

The Latino in consideration is no other than (D-NY 13th District) Rep. Adriano Espaillat, who last November became the first Dominican-American elected to Congress.

While he has not been formally asked to join the 47-year-old organization, he tells Politico writer Heather Caygle that he is currently in discussion with CBC leaders about the “pros and cons” of his potential membership.

According to Caygle, more than a dozen CBC members and their aides were interviewed for the piece although very few of the CBC current leadership wanted to go on record, citing the “sensitivity” of the issue.

Drake Is A Week Away From Finishing More Life Playlist

Drake says that he about a week away from completing his much-anticipated More Life playlist/album that is set to drop on Apple Music.
Drake made the announcement at the Leeds, England stop in his Boy Meets World tour.
“I’m excited because I’m about like a week and a half, two weeks away from finishing this project I’m working on called More Life,” he says in a fan captured video. “So you know what that means right? All that means is, I get to drop a new project, and at some point I get to come back and be with my people in Leeds one more motherf*cking time.”
The playlist was originally set to drop last December, then it was pushed back to “early 2017.” Drake did not explicitly state when More Life would drop, but he did hint at a show in Amsterdam that it would be out by Feb. 28.

Amber Rose And Val Chmerkovskiy Split

Amber Rose and her vanilla King are no more. Amb and Val Chmerkovskiy have broken up after just 5 months of dating.

The couple who met while Amber was paired with Val’s brother, Maksim Chmerkovskiy on “Dancing With the Stars”, first announced their relationship in December when Amb called the dancer “heart” on Instagram…

and were last seen seemingly happily coupled up at a Knicks game.

According to E! News Amb felt “great” about their relationship in 2017—but somehow things crumbled.

 

In early January, she gushed over her man, telling her co-host Dr. Chris Donaghue on Play.it’seline, “It’s amazing. It’s so good. It’s been four months now, and it’s awesome. I love his family and everyone’s so great. He’s great.”

She continued, “Right now, it’s just absolutely amazing and I’m super, super happy.”

Both Amber and Val are remaining mum on their breakup but Val did post the below message about “enlightenment within.”

House Judiciary Committee Member Calls For Inquiry Into Trump Ethics

Some real “House of Cards” isht is going down in America right now, but it looks like we may already be making our way towards the impeachment of Trump.

Thursday, NY Congressman Rep. Jerrold Nadler filed what is known as a “resolution of inquiry,” on Trump that will essentially force the House Judiciary Committee to take a stance on the President and his potentially shady ties. Nadler said he elected to make the move because the Republican party has failed to look into Trump’s ethical issues:

“Donald Trump has refused to step away from his business interests in any meaningful way, his foreign entanglements are likely unconstitutional, he has repeatedly refused to disclose his financial assets, and he is clouded by the specter of Russian intervention in the election and his Administration,” Nadler said in a statement. “Republicans have shown zero willingness to follow through on their duty to conduct oversight, and they must be held accountable if they are truly willing to abdicate this constitutional obligation and must be made to answer to the American people for that failure.”

Nadler specifically singled out Judiciary Committee chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) for downplaying Trump’s potentially shady business ties which may hold conflicts of interest with his position.

We’ve seen a lot of reports circulating claiming that his filing is the start of an impeachment but that’s not exactly what it is — although the impeachment process could end up being the result of the filing depending on what is revealed in the inquiry.

Now that Nadler has filed, the Judiciary Committee has to respond to the resolution of inquiry within 14 Congressional workdays. The committee can report the resolution favorably, reject it or revise it and if it chooses not to act within that time period, Nadler could request the resolution be discharged in order for the House as a whole to vote. Nadler is requesting information related to investigations of Trump, his associates, foreign business interests and conflict of interest laws (remember when his publicist spent so much time during his first press conference talking about emoluments???). If the resolution passes, the Justice Department has to provide the House with any information they may have discovered during criminal or counterintelligence investigations.

Impeachment involves the levying of charges against a government official who has committed “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.” The indictment comes from the House, and if a majority of lawmakers support impeachment the case advances to the Senate. The Senate then begins a trial with witnesses and cross-examinations, and a two-thirds majority is required to convict an official. In the event of a conviction, the official is immediately removed from office and could be barred from holding office in the future or face criminal prosecution.

It was all fun and games when Trump was calling Hillary a crook, now it’s about time we see who the real crook is. Then he’s gonna be the one hearing the calls to, “Lock Him Up! Lock Him Up!”

Muslim-American Olympian Was Detained By US Customs

Muslim-American Olympian Fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad claims she was held for hours at US Customs for no apparent reason reports PopSugar.

The fencer made history in the 2016 Brazilian Olympics as the first female Muslim-American to win a medal for America and the first United States Olympian to compete in the Olympic Games wearing a hijab.

Muhammad took to the stage during the MAKERS conference last week where she discussed Trump’s disgusting travel ban on seven Muslim nations. Cheeto Mussolini’s executive order blocked thousands of refugees, immigrants, and visitors from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from entering the United States before it was struck down by a judge just days later.

Well, I personally was held at Customs for two hours just a few weeks ago. I don’t know why. I can’t tell you why it happened to me, but I know that I’m Muslim. I have an Arabic name. And even though I represent Team USA and I have that Olympic hardware, it doesn’t change how you look and how people perceive you. Unfortunately, I know that people talk about this having a lot to do with these seven countries in particular, but I think the net is cast a little bit wider than we know. And I’m included in that as a Muslim woman who wears a hijab.

‘Insecure’ star Jay Ellis recently had to defend his strong swirlationship against Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God. The actor was aired out by Charlamagne for having a white girlfriend even though we reported this months ago.

Kellyanne Conway Violated Federal Ethics Law By Endorsing Ivanka’s Clothes

We previously reported Donald Trump’s blonde bimbo advisor Kellyanne Conway went on MSNBC’s Chris Matthews Show to spew more alternative facts recently. The hired-liar first claimed Obama’s administration banned Iraqi refugees from entering the United States for six months in 2011 — which is a LIE.

Racist Chants Hurled At Black High School Basketball Team In Pennsylvania

Apparently high school basketball games are the trendiest places to be racist pieces of s#!t.

A DailyMail report highlights a group of 60 Pennsylvania high school students who celebrated “hick night” by holding Trump signs and yelling racist rhetoric at an opposing black basketball team.

Parents said Connellsville students yelled chants including ‘Build that wall!’ and ‘Get them out of here!’ at black Uniontown players.

The Connellsville fans were sporting gear like camouflage baseball caps and flannel shirts with the sleeves cut off as part of the themed night.

The school’s athletic director brought an end to the racist chants and gave the students a stern talking to:

He also said he spoke with the 60 students to explain how their actions were perceived, and that the conversation was met with ‘wide eyes’ from the students who said that they were ’embarrassed’.

Oh, yeah…we bet they were real embarrassed. SMFH.

Drake Speaks Out Against Rumor That He Disrespected A Muslim Fan’s Hijab

During his concert at the O2 Arena in London, Drake had a lil’ back and forth with some fans sitting close to the stage.

A recording of the interaction went viral after it was claimed that the woman in the “hot a$$ scarf” who Drake was speaking to was Muslim and her “scarf” was actually a hijab.

As you might imagine, making fun of a person religious garb will get you in HOT water these days. But according to Aubrey, he did no such thing. In fact, the woman in question wasn’t wearing a hijab as some news sources reported.

But Aubs felt the need to clarify the “fake news” in order to quell the idea that he had engaged in some form of hate speech.
