2016 has taken another one…
George Michael has died at the age of 53. A publicist for the Wham! frontman has confirmed that he “passed away peacefully”, in his sleep today at his Oxfordshire, England home.
“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” said the publicist.
His friend/collaborator Elton John has since said that he’s in deep shock over his death.

A raging racist has escaped charges after threatening a black LA City Council President reports LA Times. Wayne Splinder submitted a hate-filled card during a public meeting with a burning cross and racial slurs aimed at Herb Wesson.
The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said the card submitted by Encino attorney Wayne Spindler, which labeled City Council President Herb Wesson with a racial slur, was “deeply offensive, morally wrong and socially reprehensible,” according to a memo released Thursday.
The card submitted by Spindler on May 11 showed the burning cross and a man hanging from a tree — images typically associated with the Ku Klux Klan — and appeared to depict a KKK figure holding a sign that stated, “Herb = [N-word].” Wesson, who is African American, was presiding over the day’s committee meeting held in Van Nuys.
Two days later, officers arrested Spindler, 46, on suspicion of making threats against Wesson. Community leaders denounced the drawings as a hate crime. And the city’s lawyers obtained a restraining order barring Spindler from coming near Wesson’s home, vehicle or city office, but allowing him to speak at public meetings.

Although many of us were celebrating the birth of baby Jesus with our families over this past weekend, many folks in Chicago had their holiday ruined by gun violence.
According to NYTimes, 27 Chicago residents lost their lives in 48 hours leading up to Christmas.
This weekend, one of the victims was an 18-year-old man who was shot multiple times in the neck and back while he was driving at 1:30 a.m. on Christmas Day in the Gage Park neighborhood, on the city’s Southwest Side.
Sadly, this weekend’s violence is just part-and-parcel of an extreme bloody year in The Windy City, even more that the previous year.
Officer Jose Estrada, a spokesman with the Chicago Police Department, said in a telephone interview on Sunday that the total number of homicides so far this year was 745, a 56 percent increase from 476 at the same time last year.
This year was the first time in nearly two decades that more than 700 homicides had been recorded in the city, The Chicago Tribune reported this month.
Officer Estrada said the total number of shooting victims so far stood at 4,252, up 47 percent from 2,884 at the same time in 2015. Data of the shootings over Christmas weekend logged by The Chicago Tribune reflected a relentless crime blotter: Nearly all of the people shot were men, the majority under 30.

We reported last night that singer George Michael tragically passed away at the age of 53. A publicist for the Wham! leader confirmed that he “passed away peacefully”, in his sleep today at his Oxfordshire, England home.
“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” said the publicist.
TMZ sources close to George claim the iconic singer died from heart failure and sleeping throughout the episode and suffered no pain.

Not like, actually, but kinda. The pop icon’s record label was hacked this morning and sent out the following, Earth-shattering tweet:
As one might imagine, Twitter completely lost it until it was confirmed that the “Oops, I Did It Again” singer was still drawing breath.
Strangely, the record label also tweeted-then-deleted a clarification of the hacking hoax via USMagazine:
Both of Sony Music Global’s tweets about Spears have been removed from their Twitter account as well. The company responded to the hack in a tweet that has also been deleted: “we saw a new IP logged in to the account a few minutes ago and the tweet is posted by a new IP so @britneyspears is still alive #OurMine.”

Amid controversy and the threat of boycotts, A&E has canceled its KKK docuseries. As previously reported Generation KKK was to air in January and document about KKK members trying to “rebrand” the Klan’s racist image.
Now however the network is pulling back after discovering that producers PAID families to participate.

A statement from A&E reads:
The documentary ‘Escaping the KKK’ was intended to serve as a close look at anti-hate extractors focused on helping people leave the Ku Klux Klan—the racist hate group with a long history of violence against African Americans and others.
Our goal with this series has always been to expose and combat racism and hatred in all its forms.
However, A&E learned last night from the third-party producers who made the documentary that cash payments — which we currently understand to be nominal — were made in the field to some participants in order to facilitate access.
While we stand behind the intent of the series and the seriousness of the content, these payments are a direct violation of A&E’s policies and practices for a documentary.
We had previously provided assurances to the public and to our core partners – including the Anti-Defamation League and Color of Change – that no payment was made to hate group members, and we believed that to be the case at the time. We have now decided not to move forward with airing this project.
A&E takes the authenticity of its documentary programming and the subject of racism, hatred and violence very seriously.
Just because this particular show goes away, the issues of hate in America do not.
We will still seek to fight hate in America through on-air programming including town halls and documentary programs produced in partnership with civil rights organizations, as well as continue to work with the civil rights community to facilitate a deeper dialogue on ending hate through comprehensive educational and outreach campaigns.”

When I was invited to Orlando to “unwrap the magic” of Walt Disney World at Christmas time I didn’t know what to expect. I’d only been to Disney World once when I was 12 years old and my biggest memory of the vacation was miraculously surviving the Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios. I didn’t want to test my luck again. But as soon as I stepped foot in the Magic Kingdom it was like I was a kid again. Everywhere I looked there were Christmas lights, trees, ornaments, and families of people who were indeed having the happiest time of their lives. Within minutes I was in line buying a pair of Minnie Mouse ears, which I proudly wore all weekend.
Just moments after Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving hit a game-winning shot against the Golden State Warriors in their epic Christmas day game, video surfaced of Westbrook hitting a shot in practice and running off the court. He is heard yelling “thanks” and many thought it was followed by “Kyrie.” After that people assumed that he was taking a dig at his former teammate Kevin Durant who now plays for the Warriors.
Of course, this makes no sense, so when Westbrook was asked by a reporter if he wanted to explain or clear up what he meant, he responded accordingly.

Yesterday we broke the news that Jeezy recently put a ring on his fianceé Mahi’s finger. Well streets are talking and after we posted that exclusive, a hip-hop insider revealed to BOSSIP that Jeezy’s African Queen is with child again.
Their daughter Amra Nor is just shy of two-years-old and the source tells BOSSIP that Mahi is three months along in her pregnancy.
“They recently just bought a new home together,” the insider also revealed to BOSSIP.
So many blessings this Christmas.
