AirBNB will be helping evacuees from Florida and South Carolina find shelter as category five Hurricane Matthew ushers through both states. According to their website, the company has launched their Disaster Response Tool that will help people find a place to stay when there are mandatory evacuations. To find shelter, evacuees reach out to hosts who are willing to open their homes to them, free of charge. Hosts must live outside the parameters of Hurricane Matthew’s path and allow people to stay for several days. According to AirBNB’s website: Airbnb hosts can respond to crises in their community by offering housing to displaced neighbors and relief workers deployed to help. During an emergency, Airbnb may email local hosts with information about how to help and how to offer their extra space to affected community members. These hosts are still covered by the Host Guarantee, and Airbnb’s fees are waived…

This week’s is from a Black man whose White neighbors threatened to call the police on him because they believed that the conversations he was having over the phone, in his own apartment, were too loud. Now, I don’t have to tell you that threatening to call the cops on a Black man is equivalent to a death threat these days. And this brotha was NOT having it. He wrote his neighbors, who he called Passive Aggressive, a letter. This man, Richard Juste, captioned it: “When your neighbor tries it, threatening to call the cops because ‘you’re talking on the phone too loud’ and you gather their life up, real quick…”

Jay Z Is Producing The Richard Pryor Biopic, Too
…The announcement was made alongside the news that Jay Z would also be producing a docu-series on Kalief Browder. The two projects come from a partnership that Jay has formed with television heavyweights The Weinstein Company. The film itself, Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said, has beens stuck in production purgatory for more than a decade. Originally, the film was to be handled by Chris Rock and Adam Sandler with Marlon Wayans portraying Pryor. Then the project fell into the hands of director Lee Daniels with Mike Epps slated to play the iconic comedian while Eddie Murphy played his father and Oprah Winfrey appearing as his grandmother. But then Daniels abandoned the project before production began. He has now reportedly returned to create the film with the same cast still intact…
