Pledge Your Allegiance To The Diplomats

The national anthem is under fire since it was discovered the third verse is a celebration of slavery. Given America’s tenuous relationship with slavery and the current happenings with Colin Kaepernick’s protest, someone came up with a possible solution to this problem. Dero Anthony, he of @DesusAndMero fame, started a petition to change the current national anthem to The Diplomats’ “Dipset Anthem.”

Ironically enough, the idea of America being the “land of the free” could one day lead to the song those words inhabit no longer being the National Anthem. Recently, a man named Dero Anthony used his freedom of speech to try and do just that.

On Friday, Anthony started an online petition to have the Dipset’s eponymous track “Dipset Anthem” replace Francis Scott Key’s “Star Spangled Banner” as the national anthem. “The current National Anthem is BS,” reads Anthony’s very straightforward description for his petition. The petition already has over 1700 signatures.

With Anthony’s petition gaining a bit of momentum, we have to wonder how Colin Kaepernick would feel about signing it. After all, it was probably his decision to reject the National Anthem at NFL preseason games that inspired Anthony to create the petition in the first place.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick said, explaining the motivation behind his controversial protest. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Kanye West’s “Season 4” Casting Call Asks For “Multiracial” Women Only

Here we thought that Labor Day weekend was gonna be filled with barbecue, momma’s potato salad, a few drinks, family and friends. Nope.

Kanye West just hit “tweet” on this doozy of a casting call and we can already tell that all hell 140-character hell is about to break loose…

Historically, casting calls are notoriously biased. The person doing the casting is looking for something very specific and that often leaves a lot of people (see, black or darker skinned) with no real shot to land the gig.

Hell, sometimes the casting call will forego the coded language and get right down to the nitty-gritty, like Straight Outta Compton.

Being that many believe Mr. West’s perceived history with colorism is sordid at best, the cynicism surrounding his casting requirements is Wiz Khalifa high…

Then there are others who think Kanye is just trying to gently weed out white girls without hurting their feelings…

It should be noted that there were multiple darker-skinned models in Kanye’s past fashion shows who may not have been “multiracial”.

Guess we’ll all just have to wait and see what shakes, but one thing’s for certain, two is for sure, Twitter is gonna be an ugly place for Kim Kardashian’s husband over the next 48 hours or so.

Armed Florida Man Found Trolling Around Park Dressed As Dinosaur

Cops in Tampa say they arrested a costumed 19-year-old who caused a scare at Riverfront Park according to WFLA.

According to authorities, officers were called to the park to investigate a report of an armed man. Officers found the man wearing some type of “gamer” dinosaur-type costume and a tactical police-type vest. The suspect, 19-year-old Anthony Berden, of Tampa, had his face covered in a black ski mask, police said.

Police said he was armed with what was later determined to be an Airsoft rifle. Berden had several magazines for that rifle, police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and wearing a mask while committing an offense at the park.

Muhammad Ali’s ex-wife says Colin Kaepernick needs to apologize for his National Anthem protest … saying it’s “not heroic” and he should “get off his high horse.”

TMZ Sports spoke with Khalilah Camacho Ali — who was married to the boxer from 1967 to 1976 — and says she was his adviser for his biggest protest … refusing to fight in the Vietnam war.

“What he’s doing right now is not heroic,” Khalilah says … “I would love to meet with him or talk to him on the phone to help share his message in a better way.”

“I helped Muhammad decide whether he was going to the army or going to jail. He listened to my every word. You see the impact that had on our nation? Colin could absolutely have the same impact if he made the right decisions to really make a difference.”

Apparently, Khlalilah feels like this makes her an expert on protests, and Colin needs to ring her up to learn a thing or two about how to do this right.

“The first thing I would do is ask him about his stance on humanity … what exactly is he trying to improve and how is he going to make that happen? Next, I’d have him make a retraction for his actions against the American flag. He needs to apologize.”

“I will help him meet the groups that will fight with him, donate to charities of all people — not just minorities — because we cannot single anyone out. If he wants isolation to end, he needs to prove that he cares about all people, and not just his people.”

“If he is willing to get off his high horse and humble himself, we could do a lot of good together.”

Ummm…okay lady. Muhammad Ali said he wouldn’t fight for a nation that treated BLACK PEOPLE the way it did…but nowadays, it’s not just about Black people, but all people?

We respect our elders, but maybe Ms. Ali should sit this one out. Colin seems to have his own message and how he chooses to deliver it under control…

Teacher Throws Away Child’s Shoes

The parents of a 6-year-old who believe their child was bullied by her teacher are reeling. Little Taraji Edwards of South Carolina told her parents she was humiliated when her teacher put her shoes in the trash.

Why? Because she was “fidgeting” during class.

WSPA reports:

Two Upstate parents are looking for answers after they said a teacher threw away their first-grader’s shoes at Bryson Elementary in Simpsonville last week.

Six-year-old Taraji Edward’s mother said she knew there was a problem when she was getting her daughter ready for school the next day.

“She began to cry, ‘no mommy I don’t want to wear those sandals’,” Chartrese Edwards.

Edwards said she asked her daughter why, and that’s when her daughter told her the teacher had thrown them away the day before.

“I was messing with my shoes, and the teacher told me eight times or seven, and I never listened,” Taraji said.

She said the strap was bothering her in math class last week.

Taraji said the teacher made her walk around barefoot for a while before she was told she could go get her shoes from the trash and put them back on her feet.

Taraji said she felt singled out. “I feel embarrassed, and I did not like how she treated me… that’s not a way I can make friends,” she said.

Edwards said she did speak with the principal and teacher at the school.

“She easily confessed,” Edwards said. ‘Yes I did.’ I told her to leave the shoes alone, and she did not listen to me.’”

The teacher has yet to face disciplinary action.

Tamar Braxton is shutting down reports that her marriage is in trouble.

As previously reported, BOSSIP broke the story that Tamar and Vince got into a massive blowout and Vince bit Tamar’s hand drawing blood.

Now according to Tamar “everybody can have several seats” because they’re doing just fine.

“Just because somebody says something doesn’t make it law,” said Tamar to paparazzi in an airport. “I’m not even finna defend my relationship to anybody. Ever. This is a marriage. This is not my baby daddy. This is not my boyfriend. We don’t live together. This is my husband for 13 years…so everybody else can have several seats.”

Interesting, she didn’t deny that anything happened between them but she’s clearly noting that they’re in it for the long haul.

Drake Might Be Prepping Something Classy For The Texas Folk

After releasing the “Child’s Play” video earlier today, Drake has even more in store for his fans. The Canadian emcee posted a new photo on Instagram to publicize an event going down on Labor Day. The event, titled “Drake Presents: A New Dance Experience,” is scheduled for September 5th from 1opm to 2am.

The caption reads: “HOUSTON TEXAS…On September 5th we are giving you a chance to experience something that’s here to stay…THE BALLET…10pm -.”

These days it feels like Drake spends as much time touring as he does posting cryptic messages for fans. The latest entry into the Toronto rapper’s series of mysteries is a poster describing an event set to take place in Houston on Monday (Sept. 5).

The first line on the poster reads, “DRAKE PRESENTS A NEW DANCE EXPERIENCE … The Ballet.” Under those words are the date and time for the mysterious event. The caption for Drizzy’s latest Instagram post reads, “HOUSTON TEXAS … On September 5th we are give you a chance to experience something that’s here to stay … THE BALLET … 10 pm.”

At this point, it’s safe to say Drake is up to something, or some things. “The Ballet” could be anything from a new video to a song premiere. Whatever this poster is about, we’ll most likely see for ourselves when Monday arrives.

Drizzy’s new Instagram post comes just a few days after his latest billboard. This one features an image of his father and a reference to his new whiskey brand, Virginia Black. The “Know Yourself” rapper hasn’t explained any of his billboards, but we think it’s somewhat safe to conclude his newest one is a sort of advertisement.

What we’re still really interested in getting to the bottom of is the one featuring the G.O.O.D. Music logo and the OVO owl. About a week ago, a billboard bearing the words “calabasas is the new abu dhabi,” appeared, and plenty of people think it’s a sign that a Drizzy-Kanye West album is coming soon. Of course, Kanye teased a joint project at the OVO rapper’s OVO Fest back in July.

“Toronto I got one question for you. Is y’all ready for this album?” Yeezy said to the crowd while motioning toward himself and Drizzy. “I’m not talking about Pablo. I wasn’t talking about Views. I wanna ask y’all right now, are y’all ready for this album?”

Rihanna Had Kind Words To Say About Drake’s VMA Speech

Drake and Rihanna have had the internet buzzing since they’ve stopped hiding their relationship. While Drake has been a lot more forthcoming with the nature of their union, Rihanna hasn’t said very much by way of any public acknowledgement. After the VMAs, though, she wrote a long message and mentioned him in the post. It was a single sentence and could very well just be pleasantries, but for someone who really hasn’t even mentioned him by name this is the most she’s done.

Lauren Holiday, Jrue’s Wife, Found To Have Brain Tumor

New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday was hit with awful news about his wife, retired soccer star Lauren Holiday. The young couple, whom are six months pregnant, were shocked when doctors found a benign tumor in Lauren’s brain. The baby is not due for another few weeks but word is they’re planning to induce labor early so the doctors can operate on her brain without affecting the baby. Jrue said that the Pelicans organization has given him a lot of support during this rough time.

NBA star Jrue Holiday will not be there to start the New Orleans Pelicans’ 2016-2017 season. Instead, he will be by his wife Lauren Holiday’s side.

The Holidays were left devastated when they received news that doctors had discovered a benign tumor on the right side of Lauren’s brain, according to NOLA.com. Lauren, who is an retired soccer star, was about six months pregnant at the time of the diagnosis, and while the tumor is operable and not a threat to their unborn daughter’s health, it needs to be removed.

“My family comes before basketball,” Jrue, 26, told NOLA.com. “I’m obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else.”

He also commented on how the diagnosis has affected the upcoming birth of their daughter.
“Obviously, we were and are still very excited about the birth of our first child, but our focus shifted from having this magnificent blessing to making sure everything is going to be OK with Lauren and the child,” Jrue told NOLA.com. “Our priorities right now are being able to manage Lauren’s symptoms and still have a fairly healthy pregnancy.”

Lauren, 28, is due in mid-October, but the couple is hoping to induce the birth so doctors can operate on Lauren as soon as possible, NOLA.com reported. Doctors are planning to operate six weeks after Lauren gives birth, according to NOLA.com.

“Lauren has her good days and her bad days; some are better than others,” Jrue said in the interview. “She’s obviously a fighter, the toughest woman I know. That’s the reason why I married her.”

Jrue added that his team has been incredibly supportive of his decision to take a leave of absence.

“The Pelicans have been great,” Jrue said. “There wasn’t any pressure to be with the team or to choose between my team and my wife. They told me to be a husband first. I don’t think they know how much their support means to me and my family.”

President Obama Says Kaepernick’s Protest Shows Concern For “Legitimate Issues”

President Obama appeared to back NFL star Colin Kaepernick’s silent national anthem protest on Monday as he told a G20 press conference he understands the NFL star’s motivation.

While speaking after the G20 Summit in Hangzhou, China, the president said that the 49ers quarterback is ‘exercising his constitutional right’ by not standing during the national anthem for his team’s preseason games in protest against racial injustice in the country.

Here’ some of what Barry-O had to say:

‘My understanding is that he’s exercising his constitutional right to make a statement,’ Obama said in response to what the NFL player is doing.

‘There’s a long history of sports figures doing so, I think there are a lot of ways you can do it.

‘As a general matter, when it comes to the flag and the national anthem and the meaning that that holds for the men and women in uniform and those who’ve fought for us, that is a tough thing for them to get past to then hear what his deeper concerns are.

‘I think he cares about some real legitimate issues that have to be talked about,’ Obama said.

‘He’s generated more conversation around some topics that have to be talked about.

Beyonce And Jay Z Show Off Their Love At Made In America Festival

Made in America was made especially special Sunday by BeyBey’s birthday, which she celebrated along with friends Kelly Rowland, La La and Carmelo Anthony, cousin Angie Beyince and of course hubby Hov. Also along for the fun was Bill Clinton, who chatted up the whole crew… But the big story is of course Bey and Hov’s PDA filled date night.

According to E!News reports:

“They were acting very affectionate and dancing with each other near the stage,” an eyewitness shared with E! News. “Jay Z had his arms around her and kissed Beyoncé during the show. He was dancing behind her the whole concert.”

In fact, the pair almost fit in with the crowd as Jay Z wore a Chicago Bulls jersey with a denim jacket. Meanwhile, Beyoncé looked stunning in ripped denim shorts, an amazon-themed top and a green beaded jacket while sipping on D’USSÉ. “They looked madly in love,” our insider shared. “She told Jay she loves him.”

While moving and shaking to the hits, Beyoncé received a few special shout outs from the stage including one from Chris Martin. “We want to say happy birthday to Mrs. Carter who is out here somewhere,” he shared during his set. “Can you believe she’s 107 years old? Happy birthday Bey.”

Hmmmm sure she was amused by that. Seriously though — where did they get the quotes from? Who overheard Bey whispering sweet nothings?

E! News has also learned that the birthday girl ran into Malia Obama and former President Bill Clinton during the Labor Day weekend music festival. Not too shabby for a Sunday night out.

“Malia was dancing with Jay Z and she was smiling,” an eyewitness shared with us. “Beyoncé and Jay gave Malia a hug too.”

Earlier in the day, E! News caught up with Kelly who was more than excited to ring in her close friend’s big day. In fact, the “Motivation” singer revealed the special gift she gave the Grammy winner.
“Well, diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” Kelly told us exclusively. “I got her diamonds!”

“I am super excited to be here and hear all the artists,” the former Destiny’s Child member continued. “We are all going to be celebrating this festival and Beyoncé’s birthday.”

Diamonds are always nice. We hope Bey got some from Hov too.
