Woman Said Derrick Rose And Two Friends Assaulted Her When She Was Passed Out

A judge has shut down Derrick Rose’s attempt to have a lawsuit accusing him of gang raping a woman.

A Federal Court Judge this week denied the NBA star’s motion to dismiss the $21 million civil suit, saying based on the evidence he has heard thus far it will be up to a jury to decide who is telling the truth, not him.

An unnamed woman sued Rose and his two friends for allegedly drugging her, breaking into her apartment and then gang raping her.

The NBA star fired back at the lawsuit saying it was nothing more than a shameless money grab. Rose denied all allegations that he raped his ex-girlfriend and said she gave him and his buddies consent to have sex.

Rose claimed that the woman was only upset with him due to her not being reimbursed for sex toys used during the night in question. He said that once he started ignoring her texts … she became even angrier with him. Rose demanded the entire suit be thrown out and the woman not be awarded a dime.

The suit is in the discovery phase with both parties taking depositions and exchanging documents preparing for the upcoming trial later this year.

Rose filed a motion for summary judgment, asking that the court throw out the entire case.

But on July 27th the judge came back with his decision, and he sided with the accuser by denying the NBA star’s motion.

Zoo Elephant Hurls Giant Rock Towards Visitors And Kills 7-Year-Old Girl

An elephant at a Moroccan zoo hurled a huge stone towards visitors killing a 7-year-old girl according to NBC News:

The behavior of the female elephant was “abnormal” and needs to be understood, a veterinarian at the site said Friday.

The girl was visiting the Zoological Garden of Rabat with her family on Tuesday, admiring three elephants when one picked up a stone, then tossed it more than 10 yards over a ditch and a wooden barrier toward the visitors. The girl was struck in the head and died hours later.

The elephant exhibit has been temporarily closed, zoo veterinarian Abderahim Salhi said by telephone. He said that zoo personnel remained in shock three days later at what he called an “unforeseeable accident.”

The zoo was designed to show animals living in replicas of their natural habitat — but with no direct contact with visitors, Salhi said. Stones are plentiful inside the elephant habitat, as they would be in their natural surroundings.

“We are very sad at what happened, but it would be wrong to blame the elephant. This was not premeditated,” said Salma Slimani, who is in charge of zoo administration.

Mary J. Blige is well aware that fans are reeling over the news that she and her hubby Kendu Issacs are no more, so she’s released a statement.

According to the songstress this is a “very difficult, emotional time for her” and sometimes “things don’t work.”
ESSENCE reports:

Ms. Blige is saddened to say [that] it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would… but, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything.

Mary will continue writing and working on her album, which is due out later this year along with her world tour.

She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time.”

$536 Million Jackpot Claimed By Couple Who Forgot They Bought Lottery Tickets

A couple in Indiana says they forgot they bought lotto tickets after the $536 million jackpot was announced earlier this month according to Yahoo News:

A couple from Hamilton County, Indiana, with two children has come forward and been confirmed as the winners of the $536 million jackpot, Indiana’s Hoosier Lottery officials announced at a news conference today.

The prize is the largest ever won by a single ticket holder in Mega Millions history.

The couple, who wished to remain anonymous, had a representative claim the prize today. Indiana law allows the prize to be claimed by a limited liability corporation or legal trust, which allows the winners to remain anonymous if they wish.

The representative said that the couple was “incredibly humbled and overjoyed” about winning, but they also were still “wrapping their heads around” what the prize meant for them.

The couple was born and bred in Indiana, where they said they will continue to live and raise their children, their representative said. The couple emphasized that they wanted to “maintain a sense of normalcy” for their two young children, who are still in elementary school.

Although it was announced earlier this month that a winning ticket for the $536 million jackpot had been sold, the couple had forgotten they bought tickets, according to their representative. They only recently stumbled upon the tickets again and checked to see if any of their numbers matched.

Start-Up Company Developing “Refrigerator” To Grow Marijuana

We’re sure you know at least ONE person who has tried to grow their own weed. Welp, you can let that person know that their hopes and dreams may soon be answered based on this Reviewed story.

Growing your own weed has some seedy associations: the rumored cannabis patch behind the local high school, the spacy dude with a basement full of hydroponic herb, or maybe just an illicit plant or two hidden in an otherwise-ordinary garden.

But with more states and lobbyist groups pushing for medical or recreational marijuana use, a startup called Leaf is trying to capitalize on the craze with smart, fridge-like grow boxes specifically made for growing marijuana at home.

The boxes are automated and connected, made to fit inside your home without taking up too much space or attention (“Think of it as a beautiful mini fridge,” reads LEAF’s website). An active carbon filter prevents your weed garden from lending the surrounding air that telltale pot smell, and the companion app helps both beginners and more advanced growers get the perfect herb.

From the app, you can watch step-by-step instruction videos or check on your plants via a live webcam. The app also lets you monitor and alter grow conditions like air temperature, water temperature, pH, humidity, water level, and plant height. It even provides grow recipes, lets you find recipes created by other growers, or create your own. The whole process is precise and automatic, which means you can be as hands-on (or off) as you’d like.

Big Tigger is currently out of the country and missing the scandal over his ex Keshia Knight-Pulliam divorcing her new husband Ed Hartwell nearly as fast as she married him, but that hasn’t kept him from being dragged into the fray.

According to The Jasmine Brand reports:

A source claims that the former NFL’er believed she was cheating on him with her ex and that he is the father of her unborn child, according to the Daily Mail Online.

Reportedly, Ed suspected Keshia had continued her relationship with ex-boyfriend radio/TV personality Big Tigger (real name Darian Morgan) after they were married. Keshia and Tigger were together before she started dating Ed.

According to the source, Ed believes that Keshia had been having an affair with her ex-boyfriend. They dated for more than a year and even attended a White House Black History Month event together before they abruptly broke up in late 2015. Their breakup was so quiet and her relationship with Ed Hartwell happened so fast afterwards that when she announced she was married, many press outlets inadvertently ran photos of her and Tigger.

Ed had suspected the couple may have maintained their sexual relationship even though she moved on with him and that the baby could actually be Tigger’s instead. Keshia is adamant that is not the case, and she’s embarrassed all of this is going on. The Cosby Show kids pride themselves on being drama-free and never being in the headlines. The fact that she is involved in some “Maury Povich-type” drama is everything she’s worked to keep away from.

The only part about this story that seems remotely true is that some media outlets inadvertently ran photos of Keshia and Tigger instead of Ed when Knight-Pulliam wed Hartwell.

Considering how badly that breakup went and how careful Tigger was to steer clear of the messiness it seems highly unlikely he’d reunite with Keshia. Not to mention, his reluctance to get married and have a child were probably part of what sent Keshia into the relationship with Hartwell in the first place! He definitely wasn’t trying to make no babies… SMH

Antonio Armstrong And Wife Dawn Killed By Their Teenage Son

Extremely tragic story coming out of Houston this evening. Former NFL player and Texas A&M football star Antonio Armstrong, and his wife of over 20 years Dawn, were each shot dead in their bedroom by their own 16-year-old son, while the entire family was home. Via NYDN:

Former NFL player Antonio Armstrong and his wife were fatally shot by their teenage son in the family’s Houston home early Friday, police said.

Armstrong’s wife, Dawn, was pronounced dead in their bedroom after their 16-year-old son dialed 911 around 1:30 a.m., police sources told KTRK-TV. Antonio Armstrong was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but multiple local media outlets reported that he had died later in the day.

Investigators who searched the southwest Houston home found a gun still smoking with a note next to it reading, “I’ve been watching you,” the TV station reported. Police arrested the 16-year-old boy. Sources close to the investigation said he was likely to be charged as an adult.

All three of the couple’s children — including a 20-year-old son and a teenage daughter — were in the Palmetto St. home at the time of the shooting. All were unharmed, Houston police homicide investigator Jimmy Dodson told the Houston Chronicle.

SMH. What the hell would drive their son to do something so heinous to his own parents like this?? Truly sad story. Our thoughts are with the family — particularly the surviving children of this family. So sad.

The CEO Of The DNC Says They Tried To Get Beyoncé To Support Hillary Clinton At Convention

Beyoncé has been a very vocal supporter of the Obama’s since their first run at office back in 2008. She has also been a very vocal supporter of women’s rights, empowerment and feminism.

That said, it was a bit surprising that she didn’t show face at the Democratic National Convention this past week to support both the Obamas and Hillary Clinton in their mission to make her the very first woman president of these United States.

However, that isn’t to say that Clinton and the DNC didn’t want request her presence. DNC CEO Rev. Leah Daughtry spoke to Refinery29 last month about the possibility of a Bey sighting:

I heard you love Beyoncé. Any chance she’ll be joining us in Philadelphia?

“I believe she’s in Sweden on the Formation tour, but we’re going to see what we can do to get her to fly over for the night or so. We’ll see!”

From what we can tell, Beyoncé doesn’t seem to be a Trump supporter or an “undecided” as she was seen attending an L.A. Reid-hosted fundraiser for HRC back in May.

Maybe Bey is planning to publicly support Hillz now that she has been officially nominated.

The Reason For Rob Kardashian And Blac Chyna’s Fight

Remember that arm-scratching spat that Rob & Chy had before Rob wiped his social media clean of his pregnant fiancee? Well one of the chatty insiders that cradle close to the family is spilling the beans on what led up to the blowout that nearly left Chyna a single mother for the second time. Via USweekly:

“They had a fight. It was one of those things where they broke up for a few hours to cool down,” the source explains to Us, adding that their feud was ignited by “the pressure of filming the show and everything moving too fast.”

“Rob is just not used to filming again, and it’s been hard on him,” the insider continues, explaining that jumping back into life hasn’t been easy on the Arthur George sock creator, who spent the past three years battling weight gain and depression.

“He isn’t used to this pace,” the source says. “He was doing nothing for years.”

Another source confirms that the pressure of it all got to Kardashian. “Let’s not forget he hasn’t been doing the filming schedule in years,” the second insider tells Us. “He’s very vulnerable and not used to it.”

Despite their brief break — during which Kardashian deleted all signs of his pregnant fiancée from his social media — Chyna understands what her future husband is going through. “Chyna is trying to be patient with him,” the source says.

Lunella Lafayette Named The Smartest Superhero In The Marvel Universe

During San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel made an exciting announcement about the introduction of Moon Girl a.k.a. Lunella Lafayette who’s the smartest superhero in the Marvel universe.

Teen VOGUE reports:

Lunella is the main character in the Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur comics, which is a remake of Devil Dinosaur, a classic graphic novel that follows a T-Rex that is magically transported to modern day NYC.

In the new version, Lunella replaces the original hero, Moon Boy, and she eventually teams up with the monstrous dino. Part of what makes Lunella so smart is the fact that she carries an “inhuman gene,” and she also is a skillful engineer.

Are You Here For It? The Life Of Biggie Inspires a New TV Series

If you never thought you’d see a TV show based around the life of an iconic black rapper, think again.

TBS is working on a scripted T.V. series called Think B.I.G. that will be loosely based on the life of Biggie.

Yep, you read it right. The show is currently in development and will draw from Biggie’s true story of growing up in Brooklyn and trying to make a better life for himself and family at the tender age of 21.

We haven’t gotten wind about the cast or who will be playing the rapper but we certainly hope they choose someone who can get it right. It should be interesting to see what TBS network will do with this storyline.
