The long-time political talking head when on live television and waxed poetic about how much the world was moved by Prince’s seminal album “Purple Haze”. Yes. Purple Haze. Jimi Hendrix’s beloved LP.

”Guy Code’s” Damien Lemon Hosting New TV Show

BOSSIP is excited to share the news that comedian Damien Lemon (“Guy Code”) will be hosting a new TruTV show “Comedy Knockout” that debuts tonight 4/21 at 10:30 pm. We caught up with the New York native about his new venture. Check out our interview below, along with more details about the show:

“Comedy K.O. is a game show, a competition show where three comedians battle to see who is the funniest,” Damien told BOSSIP.”I’m hosting, it’s judged by a live studio audience. They play games and we set them up with various premises to riff off and the funniest joke wins. So it starts off with three contestants, second round one of the three gets eliminated, and gets voted off by the studio audience and gets relegated to sit with the same people that just voted them off, so that gets awkward. That’s funny, but they’re still off to the side so they can heckle. The winner gets a Comedy K.O. and is able to give a speech, but the loser has to read an apology that has been pre-written by writers that they’ve never read before that is basically destroying their career. So it’s a fun show. It’s a good time. I’m excited about it.”

Damien revealed the show’s executive producer Mo Mandel actually approached him about hosting.

“It’s different being the host,” Lemon admitted. “It’s a learning experience, a different muscle to flex. One thing is, being the host is a totally different responsibility, you can’t really indulge in everything you have to referee. As a comedian I am sensitive to comedians, especially because we have a live studio audience so when a comedian is on a run they are trying to get that audience on their side and go all out, but if we get what we need I have producers in my ear like, ‘Okay, move on…’ so I gotta kinda shut people down in a way that is not killing them on television.”

Asked to name his favorite competitor from the show, Lemon was quick to respond.

“I know Jim Norton killed it, he is such a dope joke writer, it was so consistent, there were no flaws, but the whole vibe has been pretty fun.”

Comedy Knockout pits comedians against each other in a series of fast-paced challenges, with the audience having sole discretion to decide who is the funniest person in the room. In each of the 10 half-hour episodes, host Damien Lemon (Guy Code) sends three comics into a battle of high stakes comedic gameplay. With points doled out based on the audience’s applause, it’s all about one-upmanship as competitors attempt to land massive comedy blows and whip the rowdy crowd into a frenzy of raucous laughter. The whole time, the comedians throw roast-like, rapid-fire jabs at each other to knock their opponents off balance. Every show ends with one comedian crowned champion, one eliminated and one ultimately forced to face the crowd and apologize for going down in shameful defeat. Guest comedians this season will include Jim Norton, Sherrod Small, Kevin Barnett, Jamie Lee, Arden Myrin, Chris Distefano and many more.

Prince Allegedly Suffered Overdose Prior To Passing Away

As the world mourns the loss of musical genius and entertainment icon Prince, many are wondering what caused his sudden tragic passing. Sources at TMZ claim to have some insight as to what may have helped claim the life of the legend early Thursday morning, and say that it stemmed from the health-related incident that caused his plane to make an emergency landing to rush him to a local hospital last Friday.

Prince was treated for a drug overdose 6 days before his death … multiple sources tell TMZ.

Multiple sources in Moline tell us, Prince was rushed to a hospital and doctors gave him a “save shot” … typically administered to counteract the effects of an opiate.

Our sources further say doctors advised Prince to stay in the hospital for 24 hours. His people demanded a private room, and when they were told that wasn’t possible … Prince and co. decided to bail. The singer was released 3 hours after arriving and flew home.

We’re told when Prince left he “was not doing well.”

We know authorities in Minnesota are trying to get the hospital records from Moline to help determine cause of death.

The nature of the substance that supposedly caused this emergency is unknown. Prince had also been rushing back and forth to his local pharmacy with increased frequency in the week after his health scare…alarming the staff that was used to seeing him look in much better health and spirits.

Prince hit up a local pharmacy hours before he died — the 4th time he visited this week — indicating his health was far worse than the simple flu.

TMZ obtained this photo of Prince leaving a Walgreens near his home in Minnesota Wednesday night at around 7 PM. Our sources tell us Prince had frequented the Walgreens for years — but last night, people at the store were concerned because he looked much more frail and nervous than usual.

As we previously reported, Prince’s team told the media he was suffering from the flu. It seemed odd, because his private jet had to make an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois last Friday, just 48 minutes from his home.

Of course, this is all speculation and hearsay at this point. The legend’s autopsy is scheduled for Friday, so official answers on what claimed his life won’t truly be known until that point. Our main concern is wishing he rest in peace and sending out thoughts to his friends, family, and fans at this difficult time.

Student Dies After High School Fight Over A Boy

A teenage girl has died after getting jumped by several girls in her class over a juvenile argument. A fight broke out between the girl and another student in their high school bathroom before classes commenced for the day…eventually resulting in the girl’s passing after other girls jumped in and banged her head on the hard sink.

A 16-year-old girl died after getting into a fight with another girl over a boy at a school in Delaware.

Officials have not named the girl, but friends and sources close to the investigation identified her as Amy Inita Joyner-Francis, according to The News-Journal. Joyner-Francis was jumped by a gang of bullies in her school’s bathroom Thursday morning.

Officials said the fight broke out around 8.15am before classes at Howard High School of Technology, a vocational school in Wilmington, Delaware. Students who witnessed the deadly scuffle said that the 16-year-old and another girl started fighting in one of the women’s bathrooms over a boy, when a gang of other girls jumped the victim.

At one point, someone banged her head on a sink, according to witnesses who spoke with 6ABC.

Kaya Wilson was in a stall when the fight broke out and spoke with the local news station after leaving school. ‘She was fighting a girl, and then that’s when all these other girls started banking her -like jumping her – and she hit her head on the sink,’ Wilson said.

The victim was flown to A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead.The cause of death has not been confirmed

News media outlets quoted Police Chief Bobby Cummings as saying that two female students were taken to police headquarters for questioning.

Absolutely ridiculous! We know kids fight…this is something they have done since school was invented. But it’s nothing short of a tragedy and a shame that this young girl had to lose her life over something they all probably would have forgotten about in a month if things hadn’t gone so far…

Magic Johnson’s son wants you to know that he’s NOT transitioning into a woman.

E! Online reports:

On the season four premiere of #RichKids of Beverly Hills, EJ slams body critics and the rumors that he’s transitioning.

In this clip from the episode, EJ is spending time with Dorothy Wang when she asks him how he feels about comments that were written about him online.

“Apparently your friends are… we’re all very concerned that you’re too skinny,” Dorothy says.

EJ laughs and tells Dorothy that people will comment on his social media and tell him, “I liked you before.”

How does he respond?

“I was like, ‘Well it’s not really about you, like if I want to look this way, deal with it,'” EJ says. “And all the people that are just so quick to say that because I wear women’s wear sometimes that like means I’m transitioning!”

“They always ask me on my photos of you!” Dorothy tells EJ.

EJ then tells Dorothy, “If I come out in a Diane Sawyer interview and I’m like, ‘Diane I just want to let the world know I’m becoming a woman.’ Until that day everyone needs to have a seat. People are just so ignorant and dumb sometimes.”

The First Woman To File Suit Against The City Of Flint Shot Dead

A 19-year-old Michigan mother who was one of the first to file lawsuits on behalf of the thousands of children poisoned by water in Flint was found shot to death this week.

The body of Sasha Bell was discovered Tuesday night at Ridgecrest Village Townhouses in Flint, authorities said. The body of a second woman, Sacorya Reed, was also found in the home.

Cops have not made any arrests or determined a motive.

An infant was found uninjured in the apartment, but it’s not clear if that was Bell’s son.

Sasha Bell’s lawsuit alleges that her 16-month-old son suffers from lead poisoning because of “corporate and government misconduct.”

“She just wanted what was best for her son,” her New York-based lawyer Corey Stern told the Daily News on Friday. “She loved her son.”

Beyond sad. R.I.P. to both women. Thoughts and prayers go out to their families. Hopefully the lawsuit that Sasha help set off will endure and bear fruit for those who have been done wrong by the crooked azz city.

Man Arrested For Sneaking Soda Into Fast Food Water Cup

We’ve all done it at least once and you KNOW it’s wrong when you do…but we’ve never heard of anyone calling the law over something so trivial. An 18-year-old boy has been arrested in Arkansas after filling a water cup with fountain soda instead at a local McDonald’s.

Cody Morris, 18, was arrested Monday for putting soda inside a water cup at a Springdale McDonald’s, refusing to return the soda, according to the police report sent to 40/29 News.

The manager told police he tried to stop the suspects from driving away, but he was hit by their car, according to the report.

The manager for the McDonald’s at 520 S. Thompson St. called police Monday to report a robbery, according to the report. The manager told police 3 people went through the drive thru and asked for 3 large waters. Those 3 parked, went into the restaurant, dumped out the water and then filled the cups with soda, the manager told police.

The manager asked the 3 people to return the soda. Two of them did, but one did not, the manager told police.

Then, the manager stood behind the suspect’s car and tried to stop them from leaving, according to the report, but the car reversed and hit the manager. The manager tried to get the keys out of the ignition and was hit on the hand and then by the vehicle again, the manager told police.

Okay…who was this manager playing captain save-a-soda? Of course, the boys definitely should not have pulled something so stupid. BUT was the $1.25 for the carbonated drink serious enough for this person to go running after them, block their “getaway car” and try to take the keys out of the ignition???

Prince’s Heir Remains A Mystery

While the legendary pop/rock/r&b icon’s life is still being mourned and remembered by millions…the person who stands to make a major windfall by inheriting his $300 million fortune remains undetermined and foggy. Via Page Six:

Prince left behind an estate worth upward of $300 million — but the lucky person who will inherit his vast wealth ­remains a mystery.

Twice divorced, the icon had no surviving children, and it’s unclear if he even created a will before his death Thursday morning.

“Hopefully, Prince executed a trust and indicated his intentions, both with respect to who his trustee would be and how he would want the estate to be disposed of,” celebrity attorney Dan Streisand told Reuters.

“Prince was an incredibly smart person, he had great legal representation . . . so I would suspect that somebody along the way said, ‘Look, we’ve got to get you to execute some documents.’ ”

One possible trustee could be Prince’s younger sister, Tyka Nelson, who arrived at his Paisley Park pad Friday with purple hair. “He loved you back,” she told the hundreds of fans who’d assembled around the fence that surrounds his estate.

Wow. It will be interesting to see who comes out of the woodwork to try to claim these hundreds of millions that appear to be up for grabs at the moment…
