Prince Rushed To Hospital

Prince had a mini-medical scare after his Atlanta appearance the other night, causing his plane to have an emergency landing. Via TMZ:

Prince was rushed to a hospital early Friday morning after his jet made an emergency landing in Illinois … TMZ has learned.

According to our sources, Prince’s private plane made an unscheduled landing at Quad City International Airport in Moline just after 1 AM. The singer was immediately transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

A rep for Prince tells TMZ, the singer has been fighting the flu for several weeks. He canceled 2 shows on April 7th but wanted to make Thursday night’s performance in Atlanta, even though he was still not feeling well.

After the show, he got on a plane and felt considerably worse, so his plane made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois, where he was taken to the hospital and treated. He was released 3 hours later, got back on the plane and is now back home.

We’re glad he’s doing better! Some of us had a chance to hit up his Atlanta show the other night, and he was beyond amazing — no one could even tell he was ill. Hopefully he can get some rest and fully recuperate!

Slick Rick Granted US Citizenship

After living in the US since 1976 and helping pioneer American Hip Hop music…Slick Rick has finally been granted American citizenship, and seems as if he couldn’t be happier. Via TMZ:

Slick Rick threw on his brand new Gucci underwear, went down to the court and became a U.S. citizen after 40 years in the country.

We got shots of Rick celebrating outside a NYC courthouse where he was sworn in on Friday morning. The British born rap legend said, “I am so proud of this moment — and so honored to finally become an American citizen.”

Rick the Ruler’s had immigration issues since 1990 when he did prison time for a self-defense shooting. He was eventually pardoned, but was threatened with deportation several times.

He’s been working on becoming a citizen for more than 23 years. Rick says he’ll have dual citizenship … he’s not giving up his British passport.

Rick moved to the Bronx in 1976 with his parents, and eventually met Doug E. Fresh in school. The rest is hip-hop history.

Nice! He’s been here most of his life at this point, so it’s only right. Congrats on becoming one of us, Rick!

Aspiring Stripper Leaves Toddler In Hot Car While She Auditions

A Tennessee woman nearly killed her child during an audition at a local strip club, when she left her in a hot car, windows rolled up, with a jacket on for over 30 minutes. Via MailOnline:

A Tennessee mother has been arrested leaving her 14-month-old daughter in a sweltering car while she danced at a strip club, authorities said.

Kelsey McMurtry, 24, was auditioning at Deja Vu Showgirls in Nashville, Tennessee, when witnesses called the police.

They said the little girl had been inside for 30 minutes, News 2 reported. The temperature inside the car was above 100 degrees and the little girl was wearing a coat according to the arrest warrant.

McMurtry, who works as a bikini and lingerie model and as a ring girl during boxing and MMA events, had left her daughter in the care of a friend, the affidavit states.

Summer Taylor, 19, was meant to be watching the child but was inside watching McMurtry’s audition according to the warrant.

Officers say they found the little girl drenched in sweat inside the car with the windows rolled up, while the temperature outside was 72 degrees. Taylor said she had been checking on her according to authorities but witnesses said they hadn’t seen her outside.

McMurtry has now been charged with felony child neglect and criminal impersonation as she initially gave police a fake name.

She can’t be serious. Aside from the fact that it’s insanely dangerous to leave your baby in a car unattended…why the HELL did she put a coat on the little girl too??

Mother Watches Son Get Paddled By School Principal

Umm…WTF?!

A video shows a 5-year-old boy getting paddled by his school principal in front of his mom. Shana Marie Perez, who recorded the punishment, says she’s had a long-running dispute with the principal. Her son had 18 unexcused absences and she was once arrested for his truancy. The school threatened to have her arrested again if she did not give them permission to paddle Thomas. She told Inside Edition: “I felt like I had no other option. The principal led me to believe that the paddle was the only option.”

Ex Inkster Cop William Melendez Gets Sentence Overturned In Appeals Court

An ex-cop who beat motorist Floyd Dent in the head and choked him during a traffic stop was convicted back in November, but this week an appeals court has overturned his sentence.

Originally, William Melendez was serving 13 months to 10 years for beating Dent. The appeals court ruled this week that Melendez can now serve half of his sentence in a boot camp facility where he will train military style for 90 days then move into a halfway house. According to The Root, after 13 months, he is eligible for parole.

Talk about adding insult to injury!

Dent said he’s suffered memory loss from the incident and has fear for his life.

Anna Wintour Recalls Her Experience at Yeezy Season 3 Presentation

It’s not everyday we see Anna Wintour in interview and mayyybe this is why. In an interview on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Anna described her experience at the Yeezy Season 3 reveal during NYFW. In her interview she described the collection as “migrant chic” which threw twitter into an outrage posing the question, how exactly do “migrants” dress? Social media blew up her mentions causing her to release a public apology shortly thereafter. She explained to The Guardian: “I apologize if my remark was offensive in any way. The migrant crisis is real, and I didn’t intend to trivialize that issue.”

President Obama Brings Rappers To The White House

Salute to President Obama, and artists like Alicia Keys, Janelle Monae, Common and Ludacris, who are already doing their part to help create change in America’s criminal justice system.

According to AP reports Friday President Barack Obama met with Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Nicki Minaj, Busta Rhymes, Common, Janelle Monae, Ludacris, Chance The Rapper, J.Cole, Timbaland, Talib Kweli, Rapsody, ASAP Rocky, Wale and DJ Khaled to continue discussions around his administration’s “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative and criminal justice reform.

Obama was also joined at the meeting by his senior adviser Valerie Jarrett and Broderick Johnson, who is the chair of the My Brother’s Keeper Task Force.

Started by Obama in February 2014, the initiative involves working with businesses, foundations and community groups to help young people gain access to higher education and keep them out of the criminal justice system.
Foundations and Businesses have already committed over $500 million in grants and $1 billion in financing through community banks including investments in schools, mentoring programs, juvenile justice reforms and school redesign.

Katt Williams needs to sit his azz at home!

According to TMZ reports, the wacky comedian has been banned from all 14 housing developments in his Georgia community after getting in a fight with a teenager a month ago.

A rep for the Gainesville Housing Authority tells TMZ … Katt’s been banned from all 14 of their housing complexes around town because of that brawl he had with a teenager. That went down at the Melrose Apartments — a property managed by G.H.A.

Law enforcement sources confirm Katt will be arrested if he returns to any of the properties.

Remember when Leonardo Dicaprio and Rihanna were constantly creeping in and out of nightclubs and kicking it on the low for months last year? The stars both shrugged off what looked like a budding swirly romance…until along came Travis Scott and the Drake relationship remix.

Well now it’s looking like these two might be linking up once again. The pair were spotted at the annual Neon Carnival Coachella after party, and they looked very comfortable…but still keeping it incognito with hats pulled low and sunglasses at night:
