Woman Shot Several Times Trying To Shield Children From Kalamazoo Shooter’s Bullets

The NYDailyNews is reporting that one of the Kalamazoo shooter Jason Dalton’s victims was severely injured while trying desperately to protect the small children playing in front of a housing building…

Tiana Carruthers put herself between a group of kids and gunman Jason Dalton at the beginning of his Saturday night rampage in Michigan, when he killed six and wounded two others.

Carruthers was hit three times in the legs and arms, according toWWMT,but is expected to survive after receiving multiple surgeries.

The 25-year-old and several children, including at least one of her own, were outside at the Meadows Townhomes when Dalton, a 45-year-old Uber driver, drove up right before 6 p.m.J

According to 12-year-old Joi Coleman:

“He shot her once and she was still running and then he shot her again and she fell. She was asking ‘Joi, help me. Joi, help me,” the young girl recounted.

This is beyond sad. How the hell does Uber just have any-ol’-body driving for them without properly screening for psychopath murderers???

Russell Westbrooks’ Wife Nina Mari Accused Of Slut Shaming

Russell Westbrooks’ wife is currently in hot water after an Instagram post she made about the way women dress.

Nina Mari took to the social media platform Monday to share her thoughts on the way women carry themselves and demanded that they respect themselves.

“What happened to the good old days when leaving the house with little to no clothes on was a tad bit shameful?” wrote Nina.

Her post is of course being compared to fellow basketball wife Ayesha Curry’s tweets about being “classy versus trendy.”

In case you were ever curious as to what Chelsea Handler thought about Kanye West, the comedienne is tossing her two cents in on the rapper’s latest twitter shenanigans and SNL rant that got caught on tape. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea has nothing but negative opinions and ill wishes…

“I’ve always thought he’s a maniac,” Handler said on Monday, February 22. “And he just sounds like more of one. He’s delusional.”

“He’s acted like this for years, and now people are acting surprised that he’s acting like this?” Handler asked ET. “He did this to Taylor Swift five or six years ago — he went up and stole her award — and no one thought he was nuts then?”

Kevin Durant Charity Foundation To Host First Official Fundraiser In Oklahoma City

Kevin Durant and the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation will host its first official fundraiser on Sunday, March 20 at KD’s Restaurant in Oklahoma City starting at 6:00 p.m. CT.

The Spot – a night of jazz benefiting the KDCF hosted by Kevin Durant and Peter Rosenberg will feature a special performance by “The Godfather of Neo Soul” Roy Ayers, a live auction, dinner and a special foundation presentation educating the local Oklahoma City community on the foundation’s past, current and future efforts.

All proceeds generated from The Spot will benefit programs supported by the KDCF including grant allocations to local Oklahoma City organizations serving youth in foster care and facing homelessness; the BUILD IT AND THEY WILL BALL Courts Renovation initiative – works to build or fully renovate basketball courts in underserved communities – including the upcoming renovation of a second neighboring court at North Highland Elementary School and development of basketball programs for the school; and continued renovation of courts and youth programming nationwide.

Kevin Durant made the following statement:

“The continued support that the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation receives allows for more children in Oklahoma City to benefit from the programs we are putting in place… It means so much to me to be able to expand on the work of my foundation and with the support of the Oklahoma City community I know we will be able to multiply the impact we have for children in need both here and around the world. America’s Next Top Model To Return Without Tyra Banks Hosting

Good news for Top Model fans…maybe not so much for the Tyra lovers…

We’ve received some important Tyra Mail: VH1 is reviving Tyra Banks’ reality competition America’s Next Top Model.

The series, which ended its run on The CW in December 2015, will return to New York City for this new iteration but Banks will not continue as host. However, the supermodel/entrepreneur will still serve as an executive producer. The new ANTM will also introduce a new panel of judges.

“After creating an incredible, global brand, I am beyond excited to have the show reborn,” said Banks in a statement. “I will continue as executive producer, but must turn my attention to new business endeavors, so I want to find a new host. I’m pumped to identify that person and bring back the show. Top Model fans, you demanded that the show come back, and VH1 answered the call. Get ready for a fierce-a-fied rebirth!”

It’s not yet known when the 14-episode season will debut.

Man Claiming To Be Bill Clinton’s Son Seeks Acknowledgement

A man who once came to the forefront claiming that Bill Clinton is his biological father is back on the scene again now that Hillary Clinton is running for office. 27-year-old Danny Williams is the son of a prostitute who insists that Bill Clinton fathered her swirly seed after a night of paid play, and is now pushing for the opportunity to meet his “father” and be publicly acknowledged once and for all.

Danny Williams has long claimed to be the illegitimate son of Bill Clinton, and now the 27-year-old black man from Arkansas is putting new pressure on the former President and his presidential-hopeful wife.

Danny’s mother, Bobbie Ann Williams, had claimed that she was working as a prostitute in 1984 when she met Clinton, who was out for a jog when he reportedly ran by her. Williams said Clinton propositioned her to have sex with him, with two other women involved. She claims that Bill Clinton got her pregnant but never paid any child support for Danny Williams or even acknowledged that he had been born.

Though her allegations date back to the 1990s, Danny Williams is now reviving the story in what appears to be a bid for attention and acknowledgement.

Williams has started a Facebook page as a public figure, seemingly putting pressure on Bill Clinton to acknowledge him as a son.

“My name is Danney Lee Williams, I’m the son of the 42nd President of the United States -Bill Clinton. He abandon me at birth for political gain,” he wrote, apparently using an alternate spelling of his first name.

Hmmm…do you see a resemblance?

Because we sure don’t. Seems to us that homeboy’s mom is just a little off and has been selling this story to him since he could understand it. But either way…do you think a “scandal” like this could sink Hillary’s bid for the White House?

Student Nearly Dies From Toxic Shock After Leaving Tampon In

Emily Pankhurst, a 20-year-old coed at the University of Canterbury in Kent, was in intensive care for three days and was left walking on a Zimmer frame after suffering toxic shock according to Metro UK reports:

Emily, of Maidstone, Kent, said: ‘When I finally realised the tampon was in me and I pulled it out it was pure black. It was obviously coated in bacteria.

‘I wouldn’t have known what it was apart from the string. It was horrible. I immediately chucked it in the loo, I felt sick.

‘But just half an hour later my speech slurred and my skin became mottled. I started to feel faint and I was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

‘During the journey they said I was displaying all the symptoms of sepsis and so the blue lights were put on. I became an emergency case.’

At Maidstone Hospital she was transferred to intensive care. For three days 12 different types of antibiotics were intravenously fed into her.

‘I’ve never been in pain like it so was given morphine. Doctors said if I had left it any longer I would be dead.

The NHS said: ‘The role of tampons in toxic shock syndrome remains unexplained.

The Cast Of Eclipse Covers Uptown

The history making cast of Broadway’s “Eclipse” is covering Uptown magazine.

Lupita Nyong’o, Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah and Saycon Sengbloh make up the cast of the play that’s the first to be written by, directed by, produced by and starring black women.

Uptown Magazine reports:

Broadway audiences are currently witnessing history in the making with the critically acclaimed production of Eclipsed.

The brilliant and brutal masterful work of art holds the distinction of being the first play to be written by, directed by, produced by and starring black women. And according to its playwright Danai Gurira, it’s about time.

“That for me is really the most important thing, the exposure of these voices,” she said. “Honestly, the reason why I write what I write is because it’s kind of inexplicable the silence and the lack of representation around these types of women and these stories.”

Gurira, who is most notably known as an actress — the star of the wildly popular AMC series The Walking Dead — wrote the play fresh out of finishing her studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned her Master’s of Fine Arts. She’s starred on Broadway in the August Wilson play Joe Turner’s Come And Gone but is making her Great White Way debut as a playwright with Eclipsed.

Amazing.

Actress Yara Shahidi Talks Diversity In Television During Bounce TV’s Black History Month Discussion

It’s time for a little #BlackGirlMagic

Yara Shahidi from Black-ish explained “Why Diversity Matters” in a presentation during a Black History Month discussion hosted by Bounce TV and Omnicom Media Group.

The evening, entitled “Black History: Our Image, Our Media, Our Legacy,” included a keynote speech by Martin Luther King III and discussion centered around diversity in television.

Held at Helen Mills Event Space in New York City, Yara Shahidi also gave input during a panel discussion moderated by broadcast journalist Ed Gordon. Other panelists included Tiffany R. Bill Gates Isn’t That Excited About Beyoncé Name Dropping Him In “Formation”

Today we learned that the world doesn’t revolve around Beyoncé to everyone, because it turns out Bill Gates didn’t even know she name dropped him on “Formation.”

The jaw-dropping news comes courtesy of WIRED, who discovered that Bill Gates first learned of the mention via an email from a colleague:

Yeah, I hadn’t realized that she did that until somebody in the office actually sent me a copy of the lyrics and I said, “Are you serious? This is kind of a strange set of words here.” I’m surprised—I’m not sure she said those words at the Super Bowl, though, did she?

I guess it’s nice that people consider me successful. I actually haven’t met Beyoncé. I know Jay-Z, because when I did some humor right when I was retiring from Microsoft—he was nice about participating in that, and did a great job on that. I guess I should do a Bing search and see if there are more uses of my name that I don’t know about.
