NFL To Adopt A “Rooney Rule” To Help Women Get Jobs As Executives

The National Football Association has long been on a mission to appear more inclusive to minorities and they are now taking steps to make women feel welcome as well according to NYDailyNews…

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday at the NFL Women’s Summit that the league will institute a Rooney Rule for women seeking executive positions. Teams will have to interview at least one woman for all executive roles.

The Rooney Rule, named after Steelers owner Dan Rooney, who’s chairman of the league’s diversity committee, is an edict established in 2003 which requires NFL teams to interview at least one minority candidate for a head-coaching vacancy.

The rule has come under scrutiny for failing to result in an increased number of minority head coaches; of the league’s 32 teams, there are just six minority head coaches. Teams have been accused of interviewing minority candidates simply to comply with the rule while already knowing they were hiring a white candidate.

The league has already seen a slight increase in the women who have been hired as coaches this year…

The Bills hired the NFL’s first full-time assistant coach last month, Kathryn Smith, as special teams quality control coach.

That move came after Jen Welter coached the Cardinals’ inside linebackers during Arizona’s training camp last summer, while Sarah Thomas became the league’s first female official this past season.

We’re sure some neanderthal will find some dumbazz reasons that this rule shouldn’t be in place, but the fact is that women are more than capable of contributing to the NFL, and their thoughts and energy could most certainly help a team looking to win a Super Bowl championship.

Meek Mill Sentenced To House Arrest For Parole Violation

Rapper Meek Mill won’t have to spend the next year in jail because a Philly judge has ruled the Twitter fingered MC can serve his time on arrest according to TMZ reports:

A Philadelphia judge gave Meek 6 to 12 months in county jail … BUT … he will be allowed to serve the time on house arrest. He will do a minimum of 90 days, and won’t be able to do his regular job — rapping and performing … he can only do charitable work for the community.

That ban from work includes releasing any mixtapes. In other words, no diss tracks aimed at Drake … for a while.
The judge will reevaluate after 90 days to determine how much longer he’ll remain under house arrest.

Meek had been on probation for a 2009 drug and gun conviction when he skipped town for the AMAs in November without getting written permission from his probation officer. He also failed a pee test.

Meek isn’t allowed to tour or drop new tunes but he still gets Nicki Minaj visits so can you really feel bad for him?

Women’s Basketball’s Former Power Couple In Messy Divorce

An Arizona judge has shot down Brittney Griner’s demand that her estranged wife Glory Johnson turn over her medical records as evidence in their increasingly acrimonious divorce.

Griner is reportedly concerned that the father of their twin girls is Johnson’s old boyfriend, and her lawyer asked a judge to force Johnson to hand over her medical records so they can prove who fathered Johnson’s twins, Ava Simone and Solei Diem.

But the judge Feb. 1 shot down Johnson’s request and ruled that neither side would get their lawyer’s fees paid by the other.

Solange Loses Her Wedding Ring In Mardi Gras Parade

Solange has only been rocking a wedding ring for just over a year and a half, but it’s looking like it may be time for her to go and get an upgrade already. While celebrating in her current hometown of New Orleans, the songstress and DJ managed to toss her wedding diamonds out into the crowd alongside those plastic beads.

Via TMZ:

Solange Knowles is a couple huge diamonds short after a bead-throwing mishap in New Orleans Thursday night.

Knowles’ wedding ring fell off her finger somewhere along St. Charles Avenue — this according to a Facebook post from parade officials. Solange was riding a float in the Krewe of Muses parade when the ring went missing.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Solange has yet to file a report.

Krewe of Muses is offering an unspecified reward for the rock. Solange and Alan Ferguson got married in November 2014.

Poor Solo! Sadly, with huge crowds and a dimly lit street…there’s no telling where that ring ended up:

Hopefully someone will turn it in…but if not hopefully that insurance on the ring will get her a brand new one.

Police Officer Arrested For Assaulting His Son’s 13-Year-Old School Bully

Police officer or not, there are just some things that you just can’t do as a grown man, fighting your son’s bully is definitely on the list…

An off-duty cop, allegedly trying to teach bullied son to fight back, was arrested for brawling alongside the boy in a scuffle with a 13-year-old student in the Bronx.

Ruben Caraballo, a Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority cop, surrendered Friday afternoon to detectives at the 43d Precinct where he was charged with misdemeanor assault.

Caraballo, 36, allegedly punched the victim, Justin Harris, in the ribs as Justin and Caraballo’s 13-year-old son, also named Ruben, became embroiled across the street from the Bronx Mathematics Preparatory School in the Soundview section.

“Make him bleed!” Caraballo urged his son during the confrontation on White Plains Road, according to Sean Harris, the victim’s father.

Justin’s father had this to say about the incident:

According to Harris, after the two boys briefly scuffled, they broke apart, and Justin began walking away. Caraballo pushed his son on top of Justin, re-instigating the fighting, and then Caraballo allegedly threw a hard punch of his own at the youngster, striking him in the ribs, Harris said.

What Caraballo did was “cowardly,” Harris said.

“I try to bring up my kids in an upstanding way. We must act like we have a sense of humanity, and not resolve things like he did,” Harris said.

So, this guy beat up a teenager just because his son was too p***y to defend himself? SMH. F**k the police.

Ghosts Haunting Cab Drivers

On today’s episode of “Aww Hell Naw!,” we learn that there are ghosts with “unfinished business” running around a Japanese region, haunting taxi drivers and giving them hell.

All the 18,000 people who died when a magnitude 9.0 undersea earthquake stuck off a Japanese coast and caused a tsunami in 2011 didn’t all make it to the other side.

Story from The Inquisitr:

On March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 undersea earthquake struck off the coast of the Sendai region of Japan (about 250 miles northeast of Tokyo). The earthquake, and resulting tsunami, devastated the region – Ishinomaki (population: 145,000) in particular – and left over 18,000 people dead.

Tohoku Gakuin University sociology researcher Yuka Kudo interviewed over 100 Ishinomaki cab drivers, asking them if they had any “unusual” experiences after the earthquake and tsunami. Most of her interview subjects got angry and refused to talk. But seven of them did speak, and what they told her is downright creepy.

One driver, in his 40’s, reported picking up a ghost passenger, a man in his 20’s. When the cabbie asked his passenger his destination, the man would only point forward and say “Mount Hiyoriyama.” Once they arrived at the destination, the cabbie said, his passenger had disappeared.

Another cabbie, in his 50’s, said he picked up a woman near a train station, who asked to be taken to a part of town still in ruins from the tsunami. “The area is almost empty. Is it OK?” he asked her. Shivering, she responded, “Have I died?” When he turned to speak to her, she was gone.

Ms. Kudo tells Japanese newspaper Asahi Shinbun that the ghost passengers, who all took the guise of young adults, are victims of the tsunami who never got the chance to say goodbye to their loved ones.

New Zealand Politician Hit By Flying Dildo Video

An angry protester threw a pink dildo at the face of a high-profile New Zealand politician during a presser on Friday.

The sex toy bounced off Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce’s shoulder and hit him on the nose and mouth as he spoke to journalists in Waitangi on New Zealand’s North Island.

Online video footage shows the protester shouting, “that’s for raping our sovereignty” as she is escorted away.

SMDH: Isis Pranksters Hijack A Manhattan Train And Terrify Riders

Can you imagine hopping on the train to head home after a long day and hearing, “This is ISIS” over the intercom? Yeah, neither can we. According to police, around 11pm, Thursday 2 subway riders hijacked the operators room on a Manhattan local train posing at ISIS attackers.  According to NY Daily News, passengers were terrified and seen bolting from the train as it pulled into the next platform. Witness, Lauren Dortch-Crozier stated the “R Train cleared out when the conductor started singing, “All hail Isis, all hail Isis. You mother******, get jihad!” According to police, the pranksters hopped off the at the next stop and ran. Fortunately no one was hurt or injured.

Can you imagine how terrifying this is? Hopefully these fools are brought to justice.

Deion Sanders Blames Johnny Manziel’s Relationship For His Downward Spiral

The story of Johnny Manziel will likely be the stuff of NFL rookie symposiums on the perils of celebrity and the all the pitfalls that pro ballers have to navigate once they enter the league.

This past week, news broke that Johnny threatened to kill both himself and his girlfriend after striking her several times during an argument. Johnny was subsequently dropped by his agent and is more-than-likely be dropped by the Cleveland Browns sooner-than-later.

Being that Manziel was lauded as a potentially star player, he has endeared himself to a legion of apologist who have made a smorgasbord of excuses for his irresponsible, petulant, and now criminal behavior.

One of these people appears to be Deion Sanders who opined to Cleveland.com on the reason that Johnny Football just can’t fly right:

“Johnny’s in love,” Sanders told cleveland.com at an NFL Network media availability Thursday. “And Johnny’s in love with something that’s crippling him right now. I understand it. And it upsets me that grownups don’t understand it. Because he feels as though this game don’t love him, the people in this game don’t love him, so the only thing that he associates with love is that thing that’s really inflicting a lot of pain on him and that’s his girlfriend.”

He went on to say:

“It’s hard to be a young kid,” said Sanders. “You have to go through these trials and tribulations to find yourself and that’s what he doing right now. He’s trying to find himself. And I empathize with him. Johnny’s girlfriend. That’s his issue.”

Deion then took to Twitter to clarify exactly what he was trying to say with those comments:

To folks that misconstrued my words. I never blamed J.Manziel girlfriend for his actions. I stated it's a inflammatory relationship. #Truth

One must be very careful with how things are phrased, especially when it comes to domestic violence. “Primetime” got a lil’ reckless with his language and has to realize how he sounds when he makes statements like that. He verbalized a victim blaming mentality that MANY men carry with them in regards to violence against women. Such thoughts remove both agency and responsibility from Johnny and his actions. Essentially saying, “It’s that crazy b!t¢#’s fault that Johnny be whoopin’ her a$$!”, in 2016 people just aren’t here for it.
