Funeral Home Places Wrong Corpse In Casket On Funeral Day

An Ohio family is outraged after attending their loved one’s funeral and finding a stranger in the casket. Via MailOnline:

A family is suing an Ohio funeral company after their deceased relative’s body was misplaced and the wrong corpse was displayed for a private viewing.

Seven family members of Nivina Cargill filed the lawsuit Monday against Smoot Funeral Services, which works out of Edwards Funeral Home.

The suit, filed in Franklin County Common Pleas Court, seeks more than $25,000 in both compensatory and punitive damages.

Cargill’s sister, Pamela Merritt, says the suit isn’t about money, it’s about ensuring what happened doesn’t occur to another family.

Merritt says another woman was found in a casket wearing her sister’s clothing when relatives arrived for Cargill’s July 1 viewing. She says the family waited five hours for staff to find and prepare Cargill’s body.

According to the lawsuit, the funeral home haphazardly put makeup on Cargill’s body and the body itself was positioned incorrectly, WCMH TV reported. The funeral home also incorrectly identified the family members of the deceased in the obituary, which wasn’t issued until the day of the funeral, 10 days after Cargill’s death.

Pole Dancers Sued KOD For Making Them Work Just For Tips

The former owners of a Miami mammary mecca catering to hip-hop’s elite has agreed to pay $375,000 to pole dancers who said they weren’t paid and were forced to shell out cash to perform there.

Top brass at Fly Low, Inc. and Galardi South Enterprises, the companies that owned King Of Diamonds Gentlemen’s Club, agreed to settle the women’s class action lawsuit and pay their lawyer’s fees, BOSSIP has learned.

Sixteen dancers sued the infamous jiggle joint last year, claiming in court papers that KOD violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by not paying them, charging them hundreds in “house fees” and forcing them to kick back tips to club staff.

Akinyele Adams, the one time rapper known for his 1996 sing, “Put It In Your Mouth,” was a manager at the club and was named as one of the defendants in the suit. He has since filed for bankruptcy.

Under the settlement, the women will get just 17 percent of the amount they said they were owed, between $43 and $17,000 for back pay and reimbursement for illegal kickbacks, with $150,000 going to lawyer fees. But court docs said this pennies on the dollar deal was best for both the dancers and the club owners.

“In reaching this agreement, plaintiffs acknowledge and appreciate the expense and length of continued proceedings necessary to prosecute this matter through trial and appeals, have taken into account the uncertain outcome and risk of continued litigation, as well as the difficulties, delays and risks of collection inherent in such litigation,” the settlement states. “The parties believe that this agreement confers substantial benefits upon the plaintiffs.”

The terms went into effect Sept. 1.

The settlement also absolves Galardi South Enterprises and Fly Low Inc. of any wrongdoing. We’ve reached out to lawyers for both companies for comment. A woman who answered the phone at King Of Diamonds said the defendants sold the club a few months after the dancers sued them.

Although as part of the settlement the dancers also agreed not to talk to the media about the case, one of the women told BOSSIP in January that paying club management for the right to rock the pole was the norm.

“Some girls have paid as high as $750 to work,” one of the women in the lawsuit told BOSSIP. “And then you still have to pay your 10 percent (in kicked back tips to club staff). Girls were walking out of there with nothing. It happened plenty of times.”

Travis Scott Upset That A Fan Mistook Him For A$AP Rocky

Thursday night, rapper Travis Scott was headed into the Up & Down club in New York to celebrate the release of his album Rodeo. A small gathering of fans were awaiting Travis’ arrival, but it’s pretty clear that not all of people standing there were aware of exactly who’s arrival they were awaiting.

As he exited his vehicle you can clear hear someone shout “A$AP!” at him, referring to A$AP Rocky. Is it the small floppy braids? The dark skin?? The skinny frame??? Could be all of the above, but clearly Travis wasn’t feeling the comparison as he approached the offender aggressively and proceeded to call him a “b!tc#”

#FindKatrinaGirl Search Ends In Terrific News!

Social media is sometimes a place for shade, messiness and overall f*ck sh*t. Other times, it’s a place where people can reunite with those who changed their lives.

An Air Force Pararescue Jumper spent 10 years looking for an adorable three-year-old girl he rescued after Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on New Orleans in 2005. With only a heartwarming picture taken minutes after the rescue, and no information on the little girl or her family, the Air Force vet turned to social media and the hashtag #FindKatrinaGirl to find the Nawlins tyke. And because the Internet is awesome, it worked!

Mike Maroney had just returned from a devastating rescue mission in Afghanistan when he was called to New Orleans in September 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Maroney and his team spent seven days descending on rooftop after rooftop, rescuing stranded residents around the city, a grim task that left him wondering how many would actually survive.

One of the few bright spots was an adorable, pigtailed three-year-old girl, who greeted the soldier with a big, joyous hug after she and her family landed in his helicopter.

That hug “recharged me and gave me a little bit of a silver lining and some hope…that kept me going through rough times,” Maroney, 40, now an Air Force Reservist who teaches people how to become pararescue jumpers in San Antonio, Texas, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “It couldn’t have come at a more important moment.”

Maroney, who never got the little girl or her family’s names, has been searching for her ever since – and he’s finally found her, he tells PEOPLE.

Her name is LeShay Brown, she’s now 13 years old and she lives with her family in Waveland, Mississippi. The two will reunite in New Orleans later this month.

“I can’t wait to meet her to tell her how important she is,” he says.

“In my line of work, it doesn’t usually turn out happily,” he says. “This hug, this moment, was like – everybody I’ve ever saved, that was the thank you.”

So sweet! LeShay doesn’t remember, but she’s eager to meet the man who saved her life and can’t believe he spent all those years looking for her.

Oakland Man Brutally Beaten By Whole Foods Security

Damn, does it EVER need to be this serious? This man is in critical condition over an argument in the grocery store?

According to Oakland Tribune reports:

A Whole Foods Market security guard has been suspended after a violent altercation with a customer at an Oakland store, a spokeswoman said Friday.

The alleged assault began about 9:30 p.m. Thursday inside the market located on Bay Place near Lake Merritt, according to spokeswoman Beth Krauss and a witness. Oakland police are investigating the incident as an assault.

The witness, Zoe Marks, said in an interview by phone Friday the alleged assault began as a verbal argument between the male customer and a cashier and escalated after a security guard arrived. Marks, a Seattle native and lecturer at Scotland’s University of Edinburgh here for a conference, posted images of the customer lying in a pool of his own blood and another image of medics tending to him. The images have been widely shared on social media.

“He wasn’t shouting at anyone. He wasn’t violent or disruptive,” Marks said of the customer. “There was no threat from him to any of the customers or employees. (We) felt safe until the security guard attacked him.”

Marks, who gave her statement to Oakland police, said she watched as the guard slammed the man against a concrete pillar, put him in a chokehold until he passed out, and threw him out of the store.

“No one called for help. They called for backup,” she said of store employees by phone on Friday. “They were treating him as a threat as he lay unconscious in his own blood.”

Krauss said the images Marks posted to Facebook and Twitter “are disturbing to say the least.”

“Whole Foods Market considers the safety and security of all team members, customers and members of our community a top priority,” Krauss wrote in an email. “While we move swiftly to gather the facts, we want to make it clear that Whole Foods Market takes a zero tolerance approach to violence,” Krauss wrote.

One report claimed the altercation started over the man trying to use an Electronic Benefits Transfer Card.

Just crazy though right?

The woman who was able to get all these photos deserves serious kudos. Sometimes regular people have to step up to make sure people are treated right.

Woman Steals While Wearing “Won’t Be Caught” Shirt

Police are currently on the hunt for a bold woman who mocked them by wearing a shirt that read “Won’t Get Caught” while stealing over $700 worth of handbags.

The Orlando Sentinel reports:

Her actions were bold, but it was her T-shirt that may have been more daring.

Two women, one wearing a shirt that said “Won’t Be Caught,” walked into the Marshall’s in Sanford and stole five handbags worth about $719, police say.

Sanford police are confident the women will be caught.

“With the community’s help, let’s prove the women wrong and bring them to justice,” said Sanford police chief Cecil Smith.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Aug. 30 at the 1551 WP Ball Blvd. store.

Woman Who Sued Sperm Bank’s Case Thrown Out

Remember when we told you about Jennifer Cramblett, the white woman who sued a sperm bank after they mistakenly impregnated her with sperm from a black man?

Well the woman’s case has thrown out by a Judge who just couldn’t understand how “hard” Jennifer’s life is because her daughter is biracial.

The Washington Post reports:

A white woman who sued after she was accidentally impregnated with the sperm of an African American man will be forced to refile the lawsuit after an Illinois judge tossed out her claim against the sperm bank.

Jennifer Cramblett filed suit against Midwest Sperm Bank in 2014 because she was artificially inseminated with sperm from the wrong donor and gave birth to a mixed-race daughter.

The sperm bank apologized and refunded part of the cost to Cramblett and her partner Amanda Zinkon. But Cramblett’s suit alleged that the mistake caused her and her family stress, pain, suffering and medical expenses. And, the suit said, in Cramblett’s predominantly white community, she feared that her daughter, Payton, now 3, would grow up feeling like an “outcast.”

But DuPage County judge Ronald Sutter threw out the lawsuit Thursday, agreeing with attorneys for the sperm bank who argued that it lacked legal merit, according to the Chicago Tribune.

At the heart of the lawsuit was Cramblett’s claim that she was unprepared to raise an African American child and that her community and her “unconsciously insensitive” family members might not be accepting of a child of a different race.

“Getting a young daughter’s hair cut is not particularly stressful for most mothers, but to Jennifer it is not a routine matter, because Payton has hair typical of an African American girl,” the lawsuit said. “To get a decent cut, Jennifer must travel to a black neighborhood, far from where she lives, where she is obviously different in appearance, and not overtly welcome.”

Police Hunt For El Chapo In Costa Rica

Authorities in Costa Rica are currently on a manhunt after El Chapo was seemingly spotted there.

And how did authorities know the drug cartel chief was in the country??? His son tweeted a picture of them casually out and about and eating lunch—with his location turned on.

CNN reports:
The son of Sinaloa cartel chief Joaquín Archivaldo Guzman Loera, aka “El Chapo,” may have tweeted a clue to the fugitive’s whereabouts.

A post to an account believed to belong to El Chapo’s son, Alfredo Guzman, includes a photo of the 29-year-old flanked by two unidentified men whose faces are obscured by emoticons. The mustachioed man sitting to Alfredo’s right at a restaurant resembles the kingpin.

The post says: “Satisfied here, you already know with whom.”

The tweet’s location shows Costa Rica. What’s unclear is whether the location tag was inadvertently left on, meant to misdirect authorities or intended to mock them.

It’s not even clear whether this Costa Rica is the Central American country or a town in Mexico.

“One of the most intelligent traffickers has been Chapo,” said Phil Jordan, who spent more than 30 years with the DEA. “His son is not the brightest star on the Christmas tree. The best recorded intelligence on the son is that he doesn’t have his father’s intelligence. But I caution this could be a diversion to throw off authorities.”

Monday’s tweet may have given the public its first glimpse of Guzman since the prison footage.

Chris Brown Wants Joint Custody Of Baby Royalty

Chris Brown is trying to prove to the courts and baby mama Nia that he’s a good daddy by getting his tour life together…

The problem is … he’s fighting for joint custody of Royalty and fears Nia Guzman will use any missteps against him when they meet in court in 2 weeks. We’re told Chris wants to make sure there are no more robberies or violent incidents.

He’s so serious about keeping things clean, he’s told his dancers and entourage they’ll be sent home if anyone acts out.

South Carolina Daycare Worker Investigated Over Social Media Photo

A makeshift daycare worker is under investigation after authorities say a 7-month-old in her care was photographed on SnapChat with a toe stuck in her mouth.

WSMV reports:

Gaffney police are investigating after a photo was posted on social media of a teenager sticking her toe in a baby’s mouth.

Police said they were contacted on Wednesday by the 7-month-old’s family regarding the incident that took place at a home on West Buford Street. According to police, the family takes the child to the home to be looked after while they are at work and on the day of the incident, a 15-year-old stopped by the house to visit the homeowner’s daughter.

“My grand baby means the world to me,” Robenae Dewberry said. She’s the 7-month-old’s grandmother. “When I saw the picture, it was heartbreaking, because he was an innocent little baby.”

Police said the photo was posted on social media.

Investigators are now looking to see that all regulations and requirements were being followed at the house and are in contact with the S.C. Department of Social Services and the city’s business licensing department.

“I didn’t believe it,” Dewberry said. “My daughter called me crying on the phone. That toe could’ve choked him and he could’ve died from that toe being in his mouth. Who knows how far it was back in his mouth!” she said.

Family members say the caregiver is well-known in the community and came highly recommended. They say she apologized for the incident and didn’t know anything about it until the baby’s mother showed her the picture.

Police said due to the alleged offender’s age, the case will be sent to the S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice for possible charges and resolution in Family Court.

Dex was reportedly fatally shot following a fight between his entourage and another group of men around 2 a.m. at the Crazy Horse gentlemen’s club on City’s Southwest side.

Dex became the talk of social media earlier this year after firing a gun during his “Heavy” video shoot.

Dex’s music caught the attention of Meek Mill.

Meek took to Twitter to rhyme a lyric from Osama.

“Lil n#%gas…. We’ll knock down Ya big homie #osama,” his tweet read.

He posted a screen capture of his tweet onto IG with a caption, reading, “@dex_osama my type of music.”

Meek was deeply affected by Dex’s death taking to IG to send his condolences.

The caption on Meek Mill’s post read, “Damn RIP YOUNGIN….. Had a lot of talks with you about getting out them streets and chasing ya dreams! I really believed in you and seen you putting on for Detroit! RIP @dex_osama for all my fellow young kings coming up tryna make it out, take ya time and think about where you want ya life to go!
