Twilight Zone: Black Woman Brings Grandkids To Support Atlanta Confederate Rally While White Man Burns Flag!
Confederate Rally In Stone Mountain Brings Supporters And Protesters
Hundreds of people showed up at Stone Mountain, Georgia in support and protest of the Confederate Flag.

Organizers intended for this to be a calm and respectful rally and, for the most part, it was – though a counter protest caused a few moments of tension where it looked like a fight could break out at any moment.
People who came to celebrate their heritage looked hate right in the eye with disgust when an admitted and adamant member of the KKK came to the event.
They made it clear that he was not welcome to the crowd’s chants of “Go away KKK”.
“Look at your heritage,” one man said while stepping on the confederate flag in front of several flag supporters.
“Don’t waste your time with him,” a flag supporter said to other members of the crowd attempting the calm the situation.
Some tense and profane moments were shared between the groups with one ant-flag protester calling the crowd racists.
Despite the tension, police kept any fights from breaking out and no one was arrested during the events.
“[They’re] trying to instigate the crowd – that could cause some problems,” John Bankhead of Stone Mountain Police said. “I hope it settles down soon.”
This turmoil was not what organizers wanted to happen – though most of the rally was peaceful.
11Alive spoke to Nick Stewart who came with an open mind and left with this impression:
“I was almost expecting to see a lot of white sheets but it hasn’t been like that at all,” Stewart said. “They say it’s about heritage – not hate. It’s been peaceful.”
One Black woman even brought her grandchildren to support the flag that was a symbol for racism and slavery…
But a white man took a stand against the racist symbol and burned the flag in front of Confederate supporters:

For mom and blogger Lauren Casper, doing her daughter’s hair is something she thought about even before she brought her baby home. Arsema, now 3, was four months old when Casper and her husband adopted her from Ethiopia. “Prior to her coming home, I had researched as much as I could about black culture and raising black children,” Casper, who is white, tells Yahoo Parenting. “For raising a girl specifically, I was learning how important black hair is in the culture. And while I was well-versed in my own hair, that is obviously very different.”
In an essay posted on Today’s community blog this week, Casper writes about watching YouTube videos and scoping out Pinterest boards to learn to style her daughter’s hair, and the mother-daughter bonding time that has resulted. “As the white mother of a beautiful black daughter, hair care has been a steep learning curve for me,” she writes.
Casper says her favorite part of the hair sessions is the end, when Arsema sees the final product. “A huge smile spreads across her face as she turns her head to the left and right to see every angle [in the mirror],” Casper writes. “She reaches up to softly feel the braids and turns around to grin at me. ‘You are so beautiful!’ I tell her, and she nods, agreeing.”
Learning Black hair is more than just hairstyles and braids…
Lori Tharps, Assistant Professor at Temple University and co-author of Hair Story: Untangling the Roots of Black Hair in America, says Casper is doing the right thing by educating herself. “There always seems to be this lack of understanding of hairstyles, but also the significance of hair in the black community, by non-black people,” Tharps tells Yahoo Parenting. “When somebody is going to adopt a child of African or African-American heritage, unless they have had a very close relationship with a black female in their life, there is a huge learning curve. Not just the styling, but also the significance of how black people have often been judged by mainstream society by their hair.”
Tharps says that understanding black hair is a responsibility of any white parent with a black child. “I think any white or non-black person who is caring for a black child has the responsibility to learn not just about the styles but the meaning behind the culture and history of black hair,” she says. “Its important for a parent who is not part of the African-American community to know what they are looking at, what they are facing. What this women is doing is not just commendable because her daughter’s hair looks cute, but because she’s educating herself.”
Casper acknowledges that down the line, things may change. “One day she might ask to go to the salon and have a professional do her hair, which is fine. But for right now she’s enjoying this time with me, and she loves her hair when I’m done, so that’s what’s working for us and we’re celebrating her hair together,” she says. “Arsema really appreciates it, whether she can voice it or not.”

ASAP Rocky Believes Drake Defeated Meek Mill In Rap Battle

Just about every rap fan has weighed in on Drake and Meek Mill’s recent war of words over accusations that the Toronto MC has been using a ghostwriter. Some rappers have even given their take. Opinions range from Drake taking the L in light of leaked reference tracks, to Meek taking one because of the time he took to respond to Drizzy’s dis tracks — and plenty others in between. It’s been the most inescapable and fascinating discussion in hip-hop over the last week and change.
So when I sat with A$AP Rocky at the Samsung Galaxy Artist Lounge backstage at Lollapalooza on Sunday (August 2), I was eager to hear his take.
“They went in,” A$AP said when I asked about the public’s reaction, likely referencing the many hilarious memes that have surfaced in recent days.
As for the potential of Drake having a ghostwriter?
“If you ask me if that matters, or if the public cares, that’s two different questions. I think that it doesn’t matter at this point for the public — they seem like they don’t care. I don’t know. To me it matters.”
Clearly, the public could care less. They just want a good song to listen to.
“Watching this was like watching the Super Bowl. I wanna say thank you to Drake and Meek Mill, because that’s good sportsmanship,” he said. “For real, that sh-t was fun. I needed that. To see that, that’s good sportsmanship.”
The public seems to be leaning in Drake’s favor based on the musical output thus far — though you could dispute that notion — but Rocky believes both rap heavyweights will continue to be forces.
“I think Meek will be fine,” he said. “I think he has a fanbase of his own, and I think that at the end of the day, there had to be a loser in the outcome, and it was Meek. So it is what it is.”
Wonder how many other rappers will publicly voice their opinions about Drake vs Meek…

Man Who Self-Mutilated After Decapitating Wife Howls In Court
So much craziness in this world. This guy cut off his own arm and gouged out his eye after killing his wife and dogs.
According to NY Daily News reports:
A Phoenix man accused of decapitating his wife and two dogs before mutilating his own body while high on drugs let out a low howl in court before being ordered held on $2 million bond.
Kenneth Dale Wakefield’s presumed pained reaction came as a prosecutor described how he allegedly viciously stabbed his wife, 49-year-old Trina Heisch, multiple times on July 25.
He allegedly then went on to slice off his left forearm and gouge out his right eye.
The 43-year-old, who has a history of mental illness, allegedly said he was “trying to get the evil out” of his wife when police say he sliced off her head in their shared home.
When a concerned neighbor stopped by to check on them, he described seeing blood pooling on the home’s floor as he asked Wakefield what happened, at first not even realizing the man’s horrific butchering of his body.
“He told me he killed three of his family members but that God had forgiven him so it was OK,” George Loney recalled their disturbing conversation to The Arizona Republic.
During a later interview with police, Wakefield allegedly confessed to having smoked “spice” and marijuana an hour before going berserk. The killing also came months after he was released from a mental health facility.
Wakefield faces charges of first-degree murder and two counts of animal cruelty.
Clearly dude is mentally ill, but if he already was institutionalized and did this after being released will they send him back to a mental hospital or should he be doing time in jail?

Sandra Bland’s Family Filed Federal Suit Against Texas Cops
An attorney representing Sandra Bland’s family will file a lawsuit at the federal courthouse in downtown Houston on Tuesday, the attorney’s office says.

The lawsuit will be filed against Trooper Brian Encinia “and others responsible for the death of Sandra Bland,” the office stated in a press release overnight.
Encinia arrested Bland on July 10 in Waller County. She was later found dead in a jail cell in Hempstead on July 13. Officials say she used a plastic bag to hang herself.
Many of Bland’s family, friends and others on social media worldwide have questioned that explanation.
The 28-year-old was arrested her for allegedly kicking Encinia during a traffic stop near Prairie View A&M. Dashcam video does not make clear whether or not that happened, but does show the encounter quickly escalating after Encinia tells Bland to put out her cigarette.
The trooper was put on desk duty for violating procedures during the stop.
Last week, county officials released hours of video of Bland inside the jail to try to disprove claims of foul play, all while lawmakers in Austin grilled law enforcement and jail officials on jail standards and dealing with potentially mentally ill inmates.
We hope Sandra’s family gets the justice they deserve!
