Baltimore Police Blocked From Performing Free Show After Freddie Gray Death

Rihanna planned to perform in Baltimore during week after rioting broke out after Freddie Gray’s tragic death. The only problem?? Baltimore police shut her down.

In a message dated May 1 sent to Capt. Eric Kowalczyk, then the head of media relations for Baltimore Police, an officer outlines a conversation he had with a representative for the singer.

The representative “advised that Rihanna wants to walk with the protesters as well as perform a free concert,” the officer wrote. “He added that she will be arriving by plane and in an effort to divert press/media she will be traveling to the city by train (or by car if necessary).

“[He] stated that they had hoped to secure some extra police security and was directed by the Governor’s office to seek assistance through Communications.”

An officer who was carbon copied on the email forwarded it to Anthony Batts, who was then the police commissioner. Kowalczyk also passed the message along to Kevin Harris, a spokesman for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

The possible concert was also mentioned in a situation report dated May 1 and indicates police might have stopped any attempt at holding a show.

“Possible Rihanna Concert at Penn & North,” the update reads. “No time given. Police are claiming they have no permit so it will not be allowed.”

The representative for Rihanna identified in the emails did not respond to a request for comment.

In the end, Prince played a show at the Royal Farms Arena on May 10 and performed a song he wrote about the unrest in Baltimore. A livestreaming company backed by rapper and music business executive Jay-Z broadcast part of the concert.

The creators of Myavana, a web-based mobile and social platform, understand firsthand the frustration of the shelf scan. Billionaire James Packer is apparently enamored with Mariah Carey, so much so that he gifted his songstress girlfriend with a $500,00 necklace.

The Daily Mail reports:

The 45-year-old singer once again wore the half-million dollar yellow diamond heart pendant gifted to her by her billionaire boyfriend James Packer.

Mariah doesn’t not seem to have stopped smiling since she first hooked up with the Australian businessman.

And on Thursday her grin certainly didn’t dissipate when she posted a picture of herself to Instagram wearing the 18-karat bling.

The 47-year-old gave it to her just before she took to the stage for her performance at Caesars Palace Colosseum on Wednesday night.

She was so delighted she even dedicated her hit song Hero to her beau during the gig.

Chief Keef’s Baby Mama Shows Off $26K Child Support Check

We reported back in 2013 that crusty Chicago rapper Chief Keef was ordered to pay over $20K a month to his baby mama for their young daughter.

Chief Keef — prodigy rapper, horrible parent — finally paid off some of the $20,900 he owes in child support … ponying up JUST enough cash to keep his ass from getting arrested … again.

TMZ has obtained court docs which show on October 21st, the judge in Cook County, IL made Keef an offer he couldn’t refuse — cut a check for $11k to your baby mama and you won’t go to jail.

Keef (smartly) forked over the dough … which means cops won’t be ordered to arrest him on sight.

But Keef ain’t exactly out of the woods yet — the rapper is due back in court on December 10 to face the music for blowing off mandatory child support hearings earlier this year.

If the judge finds Keef to be in contempt, he could be sent back to the slammer … where he’s already been this year (twice!) for drug-related offenses.

NYPD Officer Arrested For Having Sex With Teens At Cemetery And School

F*** the police.

A veteran cop in upstate New York, who is also an Iraq War veteran and married father of three children, allegedly had sexual encounters with two teenagers, sometimes outside of cemeteries and an elementary school, police said Monday.

Watervliet Police Officer Joshua Spratt, 34, is accused of exploiting a position working with high school students to lure his victims, the Albany Times Union reported.

“For me personally, (the accusations are) a shock, particularly with Officer Spratt because he hadn’t exhibited any of this type of behavior to us,” Watervliet Police Chief Ronald Boisvert told the paper.

The Watervliet City School District also denounced Spratt in a statement, calling his accusations “an egregious and unforgiveable (sic) betrayal of the trust we all placed in him.”

Sick bastard.

Spratt allegedly had sexual relationships with two girls, ages 16 and 17, according to the indictment. Between February and April this year, he had oral sex with the 16-year-old in the parking lots of two local cemeteries, as well as the parking lot of Watervliet Elementary School, the indicted says.

Since 17 is the age of consent in New York State, Spratt was only charged with official misconduct for his alleged encounters with the older girl.

Spratt served 10 years on the Watervliet Police force, and spent two years working as an unpaid resource officer at Watervliet High School, helping to promote student safety, CBS Albany reported. That seemingly charitable service gave him easy access to the girls, school officials said.

The officer faces felony charges of third-degree criminal acts, plus misdemeanor charges of child endangerment and official misconduct. Spratt pleaded not guilty to all charges and is out on $50,000 bail. He faces up to 16 years in prison if found guilty.

We hope he does every hour of those 16 years.

SMH. Looks like Brazilian model Gisele doesn’t have such a perfect body anymore after all… Tom Brady’s wife was caught by the paps trying to get a secret surgery to lift her tiddays after two kids, but the lensmen weren’t tricked by the burqa she wore!

According to Page Six reports:

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen and her kid sister hid under traditional Muslim wear — during the holy month of Ramadan — so they could get secret plastic surgery in Paris, The Post has learned.

The Brazilian stunner orchestrated the cloak-and-dagger mission so she could sneak into the swank International Clinique du Parc Monceau for work on her boobs and eyes, sources said.
A dead giveaway was the footwear — Muslim women are forbidden from wearing open-toed shoes.

A source said she was concerned that her breasts had sagged after having two children — and the surgery was a 35th-birthday and post-retirement present to herself.
Gisele and sister Rafaela were picked up by Bundchen’s longtime chauffeur at the Bristol Hotel and driven to the clinic on July 15, sources said. The photo below shows Gisele with the driver before she donned the burqa.

The next day, after the two surgeries, the trusty driver — who has worked for Gisele since at least 2010 — took the two women back to the hotel, where they packed up their belongings. He then drove them to the exclusive Les Sources de Caudalie spa, where Bundchen recovered for five days before leaving Paris.

The former Victoria’s Secret Angel, who made $47 million last year as the world’s highest-paid model, according to Forbes, faced a chump-change tab of about $11,000 for her surgeries.

On Friday, Bundchen was photographed in sunglasses as she and Rafaela strolled through Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on their way back to the United States.

Gone was the burqa — which has actually been banned in France since 2010.

Bundchen, who had vowed to never undergo plastic surgery, announced her retirement from the runway in April, telling the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper that she had “learned to listen to her body.”
She said she’d devote her time to other projects off the catwalk.

“Automatically, my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop,” she said. “I respect my body; it’s a privilege to be able to stop.”

Her reps didn’t respond to requests for comment on Tuesday.

It’s sad she felt she had to go to such lengths but we can see why. Y’all know everybody will be hating now that she got a little knifed up.

A Las Vegas woman named Chelsie René has apparently launched a GoFundMe asking for $1,000 to help her stay feminine after going from gay to straight.

I never in my life forseen this Journey before me. I always thought about it, but I never imagined the courage to be able to do so, especially publicly.

This was a choice of my own, not pressured by anyone else. I’ve always been accepted for me, but that did not mean I was truly happy. I was more then comfortable dressing the way I always did, its easy not to have to get all dressed up. In making this change, it does not stop here. Waking up everyday on this new journey, it’s not easy. It’s actually very different. I’m learning to walk in this new lifestyle day by day.I have to say, I’m falling in love with myself more every step I take.

Father Arrested After Letting 7 Men Rape 13-Year-Old Daughter

An Australian man has been accused of allowing seven men to repeatedly sexually abuse his 13-year-old daughter over the past two years.

Western Australia police charged all eight men on Wednesday with more than 500 child sex offenses.

Police arrested the men after receiving a tip-off from the public. Police say the girl’s father arranged for them to meet his daughter and assault her in various locations when she was between the ages of 11 and 13.

The men are facing 503 charges, including sexual penetration of a child under 13, stupefying with intent to commit a criminal offense and sexual servitude of a child.

Free New York Summer Camp Lets Homeless Children Have Fun

For most kids, summer is a time of year to look forward to. Unfortunately, for a lot of underprivileged and homeless children they don’t get the same summer fun.

But that’s not typically the case for the 23,000 children who live in New York City’s homeless shelter system. With children out of school, shelters and temporary housing alike often become more crowded and stressful and the kids themselves are left with little to do during the day.

But Homes for the Homeless, a New York-based nonprofit, offers an alternative for over 500 homeless children each summer. Since 1989, the organization has brought hundreds of children each summer for three 16-day sleepaway camp sessions on the grounds of Harriman State Park in upstate New York. For many participants, the experience marks their first time traveling outside of the city.

At HFH’s Camps Lanowa and Wakonda, the children — who range in age from 6 to 13 — are assigned a bunk in a cabin and take part in a range of activities, including swimming, volleyball, beadwork, dancing, drama, fishing, singing and hiking. In addition, activities like journal writing and bug hunting have an educational component disguised as summer fun.

The impact of the campers taking part in these activities in a bucolic setting can be huge for both the participants themselves as well as their families, Sarah Herold, then-program coordinator, explained to the Queens Chronicle in a 2013 interview.

“It provides kids with a break from shelter life and helps combat summer learning loss,” Herold told the Chronicle. “We give the kid a break by sending them into the natural world and it gives the parents a reprieve because living in a shelter can be a stressful situation. For them to know that their child is in a safe space really allows them to relax.”

A break is much needed for these youth. According to the National Center on Family Homelessness, children experiencing homelessness go hungry at twice the rate of other kids and have three times the rate of emotional and behavioral problems when compared to their non-homeless peers. By age 12, an estimated 83 percent of homeless children have witnessed at least one serious violent event.

An additional component of the camps is the “Teen Leader” program, which allows past campers to return to the camp to help counselors keep a watchful eye on campers and act as a mentor to them.

The camp is free of charge to children whose families are receiving public assistance and priority is given to children currently living in a shelter or those who have done so within the past year. Children in foster care can also take part.

Janet Jackson put the preparation for her upcoming Unbreakable World Tour on hold and flew to be by her ailing father Joe Jackson’s side on Tuesday.

According to an insider, the “No Sleeep” songstress, 49, took a private jet to Sao Paulo, Brazil, where her father has been hospitalized since he suffered a stroke on his 87th birthday on July 25.
Entertainment Tonight reports that Jackson’s tour prep will remain on hold and that she will stay by her famous dad’s bedside until he’s stable.

An insider tells Us that her brothers are also en route to Brazil.

Following Joe’s stroke, he took to his website to inform fans that he is expected to make a swift recovery.

“To my family, friends, acquaintances and fans all over the world. I want to thank you all for your prayers, unwavering support and kind well wishes during these trying times,” Joe shared on Monday, July 27. “Through God’s intervention the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and caretakers at the Albert Einstein Sao Paulo hospital have taken great care of me. God willing, I should be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon. Thank you all once again for your prayers and support.”

Janet’s tour kicks off in Vancouver on Aug. 31.

Community Donates 500 Books To Boy Seen Reading Junk Mail

A Utah postal carrier says he recently had a “life-changing” encounter during a delivery route when he met a 12-year-old boy who was reading grocery store advertisements because he said he didn’t have any real books to read.

“I was putting mail in the individual boxes for the apartment residents last Thursday when I heard this kid reading through a grocery ad reading things like ‘Bananas, 66 cents,’ that kind of thing,” mailman Ron Lynch, who lives in Sandy, told ABC News. “He later came up and asked if I had any newspapers or junk mail or anything he could read.”

Lynch said he told the kid, whose name he learned was Mathew Flores, that he didn’t have any extra mail, but that he should try going to the library.

“He said he couldn’t afford the bus to the library, so he just walked off, and I thought wait, I got to do something to help this kid out,” Lynch said. “So I came over and talked to his mom, who mostly spoke Spanish, but Mathew helped translate. She gave me permission to use a photo of him, which I posted to Facebook along with a plea asking for book donations to his address.”

To both Lynch’s and Flores’ surprise, the post went viral and had over 8,000 likes and over 10,000 shares as of this afternoon.

Flores told ABC News he’s received “packages upon packages from all over the world” and now has over 500 books at his home.

A bookshelf in the kitchen that was formerly used as a makeshift pantry is now in Flores’ bedroom, his mother Laura Rojas told ABC News today. She added she’s so proud of her son and grateful for all the kindness of the donors.

“I only get to read during school, but since it’s summer and since we don’t have any books and our dad takes the car to work, and we can’t afford a bus pass to the library,” Flores said. But he’s excited for his new collection — including the entire “Harry Potter” series, which he said he’s most excited to start reading.

Lynch, who is also a fellow bibliophile, said he’s incredibly happy for Flores.
