Rich Homie Quan is currently at an Atlanta hospital after his father was shot multiple times during an attempted robbery.
TMZ reports:
Rich Homie Quan’s father got shot this morning in Atlanta, and the rapper is by his side in an Atlanta hospital … TMZ has learned.
Quan’s dad, Corey Lamar, was in the barber shop he owns this morning when a man … or men came in and attempted to rob the place — and during the hold up they opened fire … according to Quan’s rep.
We’re told Lamar — who is Quan’s manager — was hit 4 times. He was rushed to a hospital and taken into surgery. We’re told he is in critical condition, but expected to survive.
RHQ is at the hospital … waiting for his father to get out of surgery.

You probably best remember Moises Arias from the Willow Smith photo controversy a few months back. It was pretty creepy stuff and it even led to Will and Jada Smith being investigated by child protective services.
No charges were filed, but we imagine these days the Smiths keep a closer eye on their kids’ social networking accounts, and we hope that if Arias shows his face around their home Will promptly tosses him out the front door a la Uncle Phil and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
But while there was hopefully some tightening of the rules and a discussion or two about age appropriateness in the Smith household, Arias himself clearly didn’t learn a thing from the whole debacle.

CDC Confirms First Ebola Case Diagnosed In America
Via CNBC reports:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday confirmed the first case of Ebola has been diagnosed in the United States.
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas officials said in a statement earlier Monday that an unnamed patient was being tested for Ebola and had been placed in “strict isolation” due to the patient’s symptoms and recent travel history.
At least 3,091 people have died from Ebola since the West African outbreak was first identified in Guinea six months ago.

Tracy Morgan Responds To Walmart’s Claim That His Injuries Resulted From Not Wearing Seat Belt

Tracy Morgan is countering Walmart’s claim that the comedian and other passengers should have been wearing seat belts when a Walmart truck hit their limousine from behind earlier this summer, killing one passenger and leaving Morgan critically injured.
Here’s Morgan’s statement, via a tweet from CNBC:
Walmart said that the passengers’ injuries were at least partly caused by their “failure to properly wear an appropriate available seatbelt restraint device,” according to the AP. Morgan has sued Walmart over the crash, which killed his friend James McNair, 63.
Kevin Roper, the driver behind the wheel of the Walmart truck involved in the fatal crash, reportedly hadn’t slept in 24 hours.
Walmart did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Morgan’s statement.
Somebody in the PR department should have told them that this wasn’t gonna go over well. SMH.

Unarmed Grandfather Shot And Killed At His Own Home Over Minor Traffic Violation
Yes, yet another case of trigger-happy officers gunning down unarmed Black men. Via DailyMail:
The killing of a unarmed black great-grandfather by a white police officer who shot him through his car door in the driveway of his own home is causing outrage in South Carolina.
The fury grew again when prosecutors announced earlier this month that a grand jury in had handed down charges against North Augusta Public Safety Officer Justin Craven, 25 – but that he faces only a misdemeanor ‘misconduct in office.’
According to police reports, 68-year-old Ernest Satterwhite refused to pull over when Craven spotted him making a traffic violation in North Augusta on February 9. He led Craven and other officers on a nine-mile low-speed chase to his home in the next county.
When Satterwhite finally stopped – in his own driveway – Craven ran up and fired several shots into the car door, fatally wounding him. Satterwhite’s door was still locked.
Investigators determined that North Augusta Public Safety Officer Justin Craven broke the law. A prosecutor, in a rare action against a police officer, sought to charge him with voluntary manslaughter, punishable by up to 30 years in prison. But the grand jury disagreed, indicting him on a misdemeanor.
Experts say it’s the first time an officer was charged in a fatal shooting in roughly a decade. But the grand jury opted for ‘misconduct in office,’ a charge used for sheriffs who make inmates do their personal work, or officers who ask for bribes. Their single-page indictment, returned in August, contains no details other than accusing Craven of ‘using excessive force and failing to follow and use proper procedures.’
Black leaders were astonished that an officially unjustified shooting of an unarmed man should merit such a light charge.
‘It diminishes the nature of the violation — of the death. This man’s life is only worth a misdemeanor?’ said state Representative Joe Neal, a Democrat who has spent decades speaking out against racism in law enforcement and demanding accountability through data and police cameras.
Satterwhite, who worked for years as a mechanic, liked to fish and was remembered by his family as a laid-back man who kept to himself, left behind six children, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Taking a Black man’s life is just as minor as shoplifting now??? SMH!

Snoop Dogg and League of Young Voters brought their “No Guns Allowed” anti-gun violence campaign to Atlanta during BET Hip-Hop Awards weekend by hosting an intimate breakfast called: “No Guns Allowed: Fallout from Ferguson.” Moderated by the League’s Executive Director, Dr. Robert “Biko” Baker, the conversation focused on race relations and gun violence solutions as a response to the death of Michael Brown and the unrest in Ferguson. The goal of this event was to create an additional platform for the hip-hop community and thought leaders to discuss these ongoing issues in African-American communities.Key participants included: Snoop Dogg, Ferguson youth group Lost Voices, CEO of AllHipHop Chuck Creekmur, St. Louis Rapper and Activist Tef Poe and Lucia McBath, mother of the late Florida teen Jordan Davis and the National Spokesperson for Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America. Michael Brown’s family and supporters were also in attendance to witness this positive dialogue chiming for change. The event was sponsored by Cashmere Agency, ThoughtWorks, HandsUpUnited.org and AllHipHop.
