When will Bishop Noel wife up Loretta??

Bishop Noel Jones’ Friend Loretta Wants To Marry Him

Via S2S Magazine reports:

Bishop Noel Jones received a shock during the “Preachers of L.A.” after show when his longtime “friend” Loretta Jones expressed her true feelings about their relationship.

“I’m happy the way things are, but if he proposes to me, I will accept,” Loretta told Noel while co-stars Ron and Lavette Gibson looked on.

The nature of Noel and Loretta’s relationship has been a topic of discussion among cast members and viewers who questioned whether the two were in a years-long romance with all the benefits that entails, but Noel clarified that they’re platonic.

“There is no sex,” said Noel. “Just because a man and woman have a relationships for years and years, that doesn’t mean there’s sex. That just means that there’s some compatibility that is significant to the welfare of each other.”

Noel was visibly caught of guard by Loretta’s revelation and acknowledged that the two have some talking to do.

“Anything you hear something that you never heard before in that light, it calls for some introspective meditation,” said Noel. “At the end of the day, the decision has to be mind as it relates to her.”

As for Loretta, she didn’t have much to say once Noel made it clear that his love for her was strictly friendly.

The question that lingered was whether Loretta could remain in the platonic relationship with Noel if he determined he never wanted to marry her.

“All I know is a ‘yes.’ I haven’t thought about the ‘no,’” she admitted. “We have a life together that we’ve built and I do want to get married, but it’s not a deal breaker.”

Do you think Bishop Noel should finally stop living in sin and marry his “friend” Loretta??

Cee-Lo Green Sentenced To Three Years Probation

The self-proclaimed “Lady Killer” used a little narcotic assistance to seduce a date back in 2013. Now his sentence has been handed down. Via RadarOnline:

Cee Lo Green has pleaded no contest to a felony charge that he drugged a 33-year-old woman with ecstasy while they were on a July 2012 dinner date in Los Angeles.

“The two later went back to the woman’s hotel,” noted LA District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Jane Robison. “Prosecutors declined to file a charge of rape of an intoxicated person, citing insufficient evidence.”

Green’s attorney, Blair Berk, insisted any sexual contact between her client and the woman was consensual.

Officials tell Radar that Green’s plea deal means he will be placed on 36 months of formal probation. The 39-year-old former judge on The Voice will also have to complete 360 hours of community service, attend 52 hours of drug and alcohol counseling and register as a controlled-substance offender.

“We are very pleased to have resolved this matter with an amicable understanding and we’re satisfied,” said Green, who maintains his innocence in the matter despite his deal with the court.

Green will be required to attend a probation status update in the case next March.

SMH! Hopefully he’s learned his lesson.

Brandon Jennings Admits Calling Off Tae Heckard Engagement

Once upon a time, bangin’ video vixen turned actress Tae Heckard swiped NBA baller Brandon Jennings right from under her homegirl Teyana Taylor’s nose, but it looks like their ill-gotten rendezvous may have been short lived.

Recent rumors suggested that Brandon and Tae were no longer engaged for various reasons and he recently took to his Twitter to confirm that the speculation was indeed true.

British Woman Held Captive In Democratic Republic Of Congo By Family Seeking To Cure Her Gayness

It’s no secret that many of the countries in Africa are some of the roughest countries to be gay. Now a British LGBT activist with family in the Democratic Republic of Congo is headed home after being held captive by family trying to make her straight!

Screen Shot 2014-08-30 at 11.55.46 AM

According to NY Daily News reports:

A British woman who was being held captive in the Democratic Republic of Congo so she can be “cured of gayness” is now safe, her girlfriend claimed.

Christina Fonthes, from Manchester, northern England, traveled to Africa earlier this month with her mother and sister to stay with an aunt. But shortly into her stay, the lesbian 27-year-old had her passport taken by her mother, reports The Independent.

Fonthes, a LGBT activist, was told her family wanted to keep her in the DRC to “fix” her sexuality. They were apparently unhappy with her decision to be an out lesbian.

On Saturday, girlfriend Jessica Creighton announced on Twitter that the Fonthes is safe and “on her way back to the UK.”
“It’s been an unbelievably tough few days,” wrote Creighton, a sports journalist who has dated Fonthes for three years.

Same-sex relationships are legal in the DRC, although one MP this year tried to bring into law an anti-homosexuality bill.

Fonthes is the co-founder of Rainbow Noir, an organization that aims to be a safe haven for LGBT people of color in Manchester. Her friends from the group have been campaigning to raise awareness of her case on social media.

Can you even imagine? What would you do if your family tried to keep you hostage until you changed your lifestyle to suit them?

Wait, what???

Prisoner Dies After Eating Cell Mate’s Drug Laced Underwear

Now THIS is some crazy isht….

via Gawker

A Kentucky jail inmate is under investigation for murder after he allegedly shared his contraband drug-soaked underwear with a cellmate, who died of a methadone overdose.

Jessamine County jailers said Michael Jones, 55, soaked the underpants in liquid methadone during a temporary funeral leave from the county detention center, and wore them when he returned. He allegedly ripped up the dosed undies and shared them with cellmates, including 33-year-old Corey McQueary.

McQueary alerted jail staff that he felt ill on the evening of Aug. 20, but he didn’t tell them what he had eaten. He died the following morning in the medical isolation area.

Jessamine County Jailer Jon Sallee told News 4 San Antonio that Jones’ method of smuggling in drugs was almost impossible to detect.

“Contraband is a constant problem at any facility across the state. You can do everything that you can do, you know strip searches, not allowed to bring anything such as books or any other paraphernalia into the facility,” he said.

Jones has now been charged with McQueary’s murder.

Race Matters: “Black-ish” Creator Kenya Barris Claps Back At Haters, Explains Show’s Purpose, And Talks Obama

Black-Ish

After much promotion and controversy, Black-ish” is set to hit home this fall

Kenya Barris Defines New Show “Black-Ish” And Talks Race In America

Via HuffingtonPost

This fall, ABC will add more diversity to its slate of programming with the new family sitcom “black-ish.” Starring Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross and Laurence Fishburne, and executive produced by Larry Wilmore and “America’s Next Top Model” co-creator Kenya Barris, the half-hour comedy series takes a look at one man’s determination to establish a sense of cultural identity for his modern African-American family in suburban California.

Some critics have questioned whether the show, which premieres Sept. 24, will resonate with ABC’s viewers. But Barris hopes that “black-ish” will translate as an applicable lesson on race relations and cultural assimilation in today’s America.

How would you define “black-ish”?

I would say it’s an adjective, and I would even say it’s a dynamic adjective. I think some of the controversy has been around the idea that some people think that we’re trying to define what “black” is, and it couldn’t be further from the truth. I think it’s a really inclusive word much less than an exclusionary word, in terms of [how] it really speaks towards the homogenized society we’re living in today … If you look at the main character, Andre Johnson [played by Anderson], from his eyes, he’s raising kids and a family in a time where he looks around at his kids and he feels like their idea of being “black,” from what he remembers growing up, is different from what it was for him…

Generational disconnect is definitely something that needs to be addressed in the black community.

Did you experience any difficulties or hurdles while shopping the pilot to networks?

We were really lucky. I’ve sold a bunch of pilots, and this time, when I did this pilot, I was like, I didn’t care who bought it. I was kind of like, “This time I’m going to do it honestly. I’m going to try to say, ‘I’ll make the family white or I’ll just make it about a family who just happens to be black.'” And for some reason, sometimes when you just have to go from a purer place, it hits harder. I went to a bunch of production companies and we decided to do it with Laurence Fishburne’s company, because Laurence said he’d be in it. And based on his own life, he immediately got the story … And we sold it everywhere we pitched. I’ll be honest — we got offers in the room almost everywhere we pitched. It was sort of a competitive situation.

Sounds like the mucky-mucks in lily-white Hollyweird were hype about the prospect of airing a black show.

How important was it for you to highlight modern-day situations in which race relations take place — for example, how African-Americans manage to navigate through the dynamics of office politics?

It’s the fundamental premise of the whole show for me. Dave Chappelle has this great joke of how he doesn’t [like] this sort [of] racism in Hollywood where it’s behind closed doors. He likes that old Southern, “fine-brewed to perfection” racism where it’s just in your face. And it’s something more dangerous when it’s not as malicious or done on purpose, when it’s more institutional. Because they don’t get that they’re doing it, and it’s not being done on purpose. And I want to shed light on it, because it works both ways …

Yes, racist azzholes should be more willing to self-identify.

What are your thoughts on the relevance of the show airing on network television in the midst of the Michael Brown shooting investigation and other race-related news items?

It’s weird. As the pilot had just gotten picked up for a series, the [Donald] Sterling thing came out. And we were like, “Yooo, this is crazy!” And then as that was happening you had the guy in New York [Eric Garner] get strangled [...] and it’s like, this is still a part of the world that we’re in. And people want to say, “Well, [President] Barack [Obama] is this…” I think in some aspects, Barack has shot us 25, 30 years into the future. But at the same time he has given people the ability to say, “Well now you don’t have anything else to complain about … We’re no longer a country that has any type of biases. Because look, we have a black president.” But that’s not the case.

Guess this show is hitting the airwaves at the most opportune time. Will you be watching?

Unkle Sam, The Cookbook

Is that — Paula Deen???

We’ve got some new music for you from a San Diego rapper named Unkle Sam. Check it out below and make sure to let us know what you think!

Here’s more info on Unkle Sam:

Born in Alexandria, Egypt to a native Egyptian mother and an African-American father hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Unkle Sam was reared in a culturally diverse household where music was an integral fixture. “My dad always played blues around the house,” recalls the west coast-based rapper. “He listened to lots of B.B. King and jazz. My mother was always listening to Egyptian music.”

As a youngster, Unkle Sam was instructed in the fundamentals of paper chasing early on when his family made the ambitious move from Egypt to the US. “We had family ties out here in Cali, but we mainly came for the opportunities. We were trying to get that cash out here.” But at the age of five, two years after arriving in California, he was introduced to a dynamic new sound that left quite a lasting impression. “There was definitely a mix of music and culture at home, but when I fell in love with hip-hop, that’s where my heart was.” As a young kid, his affinity for hip-hop was nurtured via the sounds of 90s hip-hop figures like The Notorious B.I.G., 2pac, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony as well as legendary fellow Californians Snoop Dogg and Too Short.

“That’s what really got me into loving hip hop, a lot of that street music. Because we were seeing everything that they were talking about out here in the streets.”

“At the time there was hardly any employment opportunities for young men in the city, so of course there was lots of illegal activity goin on, so, if you help in supplying whatever is in demand, well then you can always keep yourself a job. Feel me?”

His work in the street also resulted in him getting his moniker. “They said I was like Uncle Sam because I was out here getting that cheddar, taxing folks in the hood. The name just stuck.”

Unkle Sam has opened for the likes of Nipsey Hussle, Ace Hood, and Maino to name a few. In 2013 he traveled to Japan performing as the tour opener for Soulja Boy. More recently his last video – “Rise To The Top” spent 3 weeks at #1 spot on SNOOP DOGGS UNDERGROUND HEAT and was highlighted as “One to Watch” on the local San Diego Z-90 radio website.

The Message: Rap Is Playing A Big Role In The Fight For Justice For Mike Brown

Young Jeezy Wears Don't Shoot shirt

J.Cole, Lauryn Hill, The Game and Talib Kweli are among the loudest voices in the fight for justice.

Hip-Hop Playing A Role In Battle Against Police Brutality

But should we be demanding the same from rap’s elite — Jay Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne etc?

That’s the topic raised in a recent article about hip-hop’s role in today’s society. Peep some excerpts below via Fox News:

“It’s really important to see hip-hop’s role of being some grown-ups and doing some really stand-up, grown-up stuff,” Public Enemy’s Chuck D, one of rap’s most powerful voices, said in a recent interview. “These people have actually stood up … and that has to be saluted.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer said he’s impressed with rappers such as J. Cole, who released a heartaching, tearful song called “Be Free” inspired by Brown, the unarmed 18-year-old who was shot to death by a Ferguson officer on Aug. 9.

Others in rap also have lifted their voices: Talib Kweli, like J. Cole, marched in Ferguson and spoke out about injustice; David Banner appeared on CNN; Nelly started a scholarship for teens in honor of Brown; and Lauryn Hill dedicated her song “Black Rage” — which uses some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “My Favorite Things” — to the Ferguson community.

“When the dogs bite, when the beatings, when I’m feeling sad I simply remember all these kinds of things and then I don’t feel so bad,” she sings.

The largest hip-hop gesture for Brown, who was an aspiring rapper, came Wednesday when the Game released the song “Don’t Shoot,” in which he’s joined by all-stars like Diddy, Rick Ross and 2 Chainz, among others. Sales from the song will benefit the Mike Brown Memorial Fund on GoFundMe, which has raised nearly $300,000 in two weeks.

“I wanted to do my part in bringing awareness to it, so that at the end of the day that I can sleep well knowing that I used my voice correctly,” the Game said in an interview Thursday.

Other black entertainers have spoken out including Kerry Washington, Jesse Williams and Spike Lee, who attended Brown’s funeral on Monday. At a concert last week where he performed Marvin Gaye’s seminal “What’s Going On?” at the Hollywood Bowl, John Legend wore a shirt that said “don’t shoot.”

While a number of members of the rap community have come out in support of Ferguson — including Russell Simmons, Killer Mike, Young Jeezy and Wiz Khalifa — others have wondered if hip-hop’s most prolific and popular stars will chime in, from Jay Z to Pharrell to Kanye West to Lil Wayne.

“I don’t believe everyone has a role for this, and I also don’t believe quantity takes over as quality. I think we have a quality combination in there,” Chuck D said.

We agree with Chuck D. Do you? Also, we think that at some point Kanye will definitely have something to say on the subject. Sometimes it takes time for artists to put their work into motion. Take for example T.I.’s recent release “New National Anthem” which was penned around the time of George Zimmerman’s acquittal for the murder of Trayvon Martin.

“This is not to divide race, color, generation, region. This is not to incite or encourage people to go against to the police. This is to bring about change by way of creating awareness of the current status in America in these inner city areas for our young black men and young black people,”T.I. said in a recent interview.

T.I. said songs like his and J. Cole’s can serve as a voice for those who don’t have a platform like famous rappers.

“We are the voice for those without a voice,” he said. “Our messages reach the ears of people that most common men in America can’t reach, and I think that has to be used to the advantage and the greater good of the masses.

It feels good to hear our artists talking about something more than trappin’, spending money and having sex riiiiight?
