Denzel Washington Checks Into Professional Detox After Hard Partying

You expect to hear about the Beibers and Breezys of the world partying juuuuuuust a little too hard and having to pull it together. But who would ever suspect the elder A-list to get down like the young folks? Via TMZ:

Denzel Washington just left an Orange County residence where he was staying for more than 2 weeks to detox after a wild, alcohol-fueled, gluttonous month-long vacation … TMZ has learned.

Sources connected with the actor tell TMZ Denzel was on a yacht during the month of July with his wife … and was partying and partying hard.

When he returned to L.A. … our sources say Denzel went to the OC residence where he had professionals help him “detox.”

One source says this was more than just alcohol … it was an overall cleanse for toxins. In addition to the professional who supervised the detox, we’re told Denzel had a nutritionist, a trainer and a chef.

Denzel we’re told is out and back on his game.

Denzel ain’t no spring chicken…sounds like all that boozing and good eating (and…?) caught up to him QUICK. Glad he’s back on point!

Someone is likely heading to the division known as “under the jail.”

MMA Fighter War Machine Captured In Los Angeles

After spending nearly a week on the run after allegedly brutally beating ex-girlfriend Christy Mack, MMA Fighter War Machine has been taken into custody by police. Via Las Vegas Review-Journal:

War Machine’s flight from charges he beat down his on-again, off-again girlfriend, porn star Christy Mack, ended in a California hotel where he was found alone with some cash and pizza.

Jonathan Koppenhaver, who is also known as War Machine, was arrested by the Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team, or FIST, led by U.S. Marshalls, and Simi Valley police Friday afternoon after a week-long, two state manhunt for the mixed martial artist.

Koppenhaver fled Las Vegas after the alleged assault Aug. 8 and was found at the Extended Stay America Hotel in Simi Valley, a city located northwest of Los Angeles where he used to live, authorities said.

The arrest immediately drew praise from one of Mack’s friends, prominent adult film star and native Las Vegan, Jenna Jameson, who was also in a violent relationship with a mixed martial artist in the past.

“Thank god the coward “warmachine” has been caught and detained by US Marshall’s in Simi Valley! #justiceforchristy,” Jameson posted on the social media website Twitter Friday afternoon.

Officers found Koppenhaver about 1:45 p.m. He had a small amount of cash and pizza in the room with him.

“This is yet another example of how our joint agency efforts are apprehending fugitives who think they can hide,” Nevada U.S. Marshall Christopher Hoye said in a statement.

Las Vegas police said Koppenhaver attacked Mack, 23, and her friend Corey Thomas in her home located at the Las Vegas National Golf Course about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 8. Koppenhaver burst into the home and accused Mack of cheating on him and began assaulting Thomas, according to a police report.

Koppenhaver choked and punched Thomas for nearly 10 minutes before telling him to leave and instructing Thomas not to call police. Koppenhaver told Thomas his friends would kill him if he ended up in jail.

Mack dialed 911 while Thomas was being attacked and then hid the phone from Koppenhaver.

After Thomas left, Koppenhaver turned his anger towards Mack, the report said.

He began punching her as they went into a bathroom before he forced her to take a shower, according to the report.

Mack ended up on the floor, where Koppenhaver groped her and threatened to rape her, she told police.

Koppenhaver began searching through her social media accounts on her phone and punched or kicked her when he came across a post that angered him.

He then threatened Mack with a dull knife, holding it to her head before he went into the kitchen, alluding he was getting a sharper knife “to finish the job,” the report said. She used that chance to escape out the back door and alert neighbors.

If reports are accurate, he beat that woman within an inch of her life over an unfounded jealous rage. WELP…don’t drop the soap, War Machine!

Brittney Griner Announces Engagement On Social Media

Griner proposed to Johnson and both posted it on social media, with Griner showing a photo of her on one knee with a ring in her hand in front of Johnson on her Instagram account. Griner plays for the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and Johnson for the Tulsa Shock.

Johnson also had a photo on her Instagram account of Griner lying in bed with an engagement ring resting on her shoulder.

Griner has embraced her role as a prominent gay athlete since finishing a record-breaking career at Baylor. She came out last year and wrote a candid memoir, “In My Skin,” that was critical of college coach Kim Mulkey.

The 6-foot-8 center, drafted first overall by Phoenix last year, has helped lead the Mercury to a WNBA-best 27-5 record. She is averaging 15.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.9 blocks.
Johnson is averaging 15.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in her third season with Tulsa. The 6-foot-3 forward played at Tennessee.

A Dallas man who stalked a teenage neighbor and tattooed her name all over his body was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday for shooting the girl’s father.
Gabriel Ramirez, 23, pleaded guilty to stalking and aggravated assault after breaking into 17-year-old Christina Trejo’s home in South Dallas and shooting her father three times last summer.
“I tried to open the door, but it was pushed into me,” the teen’s father, Antonio Trejo, testified. “Right away … [Ramirez] started firing.”
Trejo survived the attack but needed multiple surgeries to repair his punctured liver, stomach and lung.
After the shooting, Ramirez fled back to his home, but the teen’s parents identified him as the shooter and he was arrested less than an hour later. The girl took cover in a back bedroom to call 911.
Prosecutors say Ramirez was never in a relationship with the teen but tried repeatedly to make a connection, including sending her flowers for her birthday.
He also got 11 tattoos of her name across his chest, neck and arms — some of which were decorated with hearts and included her birth date and address.

Khloe Kardashian’s Boyfriend French Montana Speaks About Her Ex And His Drug Connection

French Montana is trying to distance himself from any real life drug connections and commenting on Khloe’s marriage with Lamar as he prepares to make his appearance on “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”

When it comes to men, Khloe Kardashian has a type: guys with an uneasy relationship to cocaine.

Kardashian watchers everywhere rejoiced when the reality star left her husband, NBA player Lamar Odom, after his alleged struggles with crack destroyed their relationship.

They were less enthusiastic when she almost immediately took up with French Montana, a rapper with a clique called “The Coke Boys,” who likes to brag about dealing the drug.

“It’s a funny predicament situation,” Montana acknowledged to Confidenti@l, “crack and coke and everything altogether. So if you’re on the outside looking in, of course you’re going to be (confused).”

But the South Bronx-raised rapper, whose single “Don’t Panic” was released Wednesday on iTunes, promises fans don’t have to worry.

“I don’t know about his crack problem,” said Montana, who runs a label called Coke City, referring to Odom. “With me, it’s just my label — it’s just part of my music.” He added, “I’m not an addict or nothing.”

While Montana began his relationship with Kardashian soon after she split with Odom, to whom she’s still married, he insists there’s no hard feelings.

“I don’t think it’s a problem with me and him,” he said. “She was in love and grew out of love, for whatever reasons. I never ask. I never try to know. I just worry about me and her.”

Very sweet. But Montana, who featured a picture of Kardashian on the art for “Don’t Panic” and will appear on her show “Kourtney and Khloe Take the Hamptons,” has faced suspicions that he could be using the family connection to reach a larger audience.

“Honestly, we never even think about it,” he counters. “Obviously hers is a bigger fan base because they’ve been on for about 10 years and this is the biggest show ever,” he said. “But I don’t pay attention to that kind of stuff.”

Couple Accused Of Killing Girlfriend’s Mom In Bali Could Face Death Penalty

The American couple arrested in Bali over the slaying of the woman’s mother, Sheila von Wiese-Mack may be charged with premeditated murder according to police in Indonesia. The charge carries a maxiumum penalty of death.

According to AP reports:

Heather Mack, 19, and her boyfriend, Tommy Schaefer, 21, both from Chicago, were arrested in Bali’s Kuta area Wednesday, a day after the body of Sheila von Wiese-Mack was found stuffed inside a suitcase in the trunk of a taxi parked in front of the upscale St. Regis Bali Resort in the island’s exclusive Nusa Dua section.

An autopsy Saturday found that von Wiese-Mack, 62, died of asphyxiation from a broken nose bone resulting from a blunt blow, said Ida Bagus Putu Alit, head of forensics at Sanglah Hospital in Bali’s provincial capital of Denpasar. She also suffered from a broken neck, Alit said.

Mack and Schaefer were charged with murder on Friday. Col. Djoko Hari Utomo, chief of police for Denpasar, said Saturday that police had enough evidence to charge them with premeditated murder.

He reiterated that the couple was still refusing to talk to investigators without the presence of American lawyers.

“But that does not hamper our investigation. We have enough evidence, including CCTV and fingerprints,” Utomo said. “And I am inclined to charge them with premeditated murder.”

An FBI agent arrived Friday to help with the investigation, including on the couple’s possible involvement in criminal activity in the United States, Utomo said.

In the meantime there are unconfirmed reports that Heather Mack is claiming she’s pregnant… Would that help her case?

Pregnant or not, the results of the autopsy are pretty revealing:

The autopsy found that breaks in von Wiese-Mack’s neck and nose extended to her upper right and left jaws, causing respiratory disorders, Alit said. It also showed hand wounds suggesting she was trying to fend off an attack.

“We also found blood aspiration, which meant the victim was standing when assaulted,” Alit said. “The conclusion is that the victim suffocated from lack of oxygen because of influx of blood from the broken nose bone.”

Alit said von Wiese-Mack was believed to have died Tuesday morning.

“The victim was last spotted on CCTV at 3:45 a.m. (Tuesday), and three hours later she called receptionists asking to wake her up at 10 a.m.,” Alit said. “However, she did not respond when awakened.”

Meanwhile, Bali’s deputy police chief, Brig. Gen. Gusti Ngurah Raharja Subyakta, said psychological tests showed that there were no psychiatric disorders with the couple.

So no claiming insanity for these two. Do you think they’ll end up dying in Indonesia?

Ironically, we recently learned that Heather’s dad was a noted classical and jazz composer who also died at a hotel abroad. James Mack, who was also the director of music at Rockefeller Chapel at the University of Chicago, was 76 when he died in Greece in 2006 — also at a hotel, while on vacation.

Several People Arrested, One Person Shot During Ferguson Curfew

After being told that there was a curfew from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m., a number of people people protesting the unarmed shooting death of Mike Brown were arrested in Ferguson.

Police have since confirmed that a man was shot during the chaos that once again included tear gas and smoke bombs.

USA TODAY reports:

Seven people were arrested and one person shot early Sunday in Ferguson, Mo., as police and protesters clashed again in a haze of tear gas despite a curfew that took effect at midnight.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Capt. Ronald Johnson said one person was shot overnight and is in critical condition, but he couldn’t confirm whether the shooting victim was a protester.

The shooting happened on West Florissant Avenue, one of the main thoroughfares in Ferguson and the scene of protests for the last week, said Johnson, who is in charge of security in Ferguson.

Meanwhile, seven people were arrested overnight and will face charges of failure to disperse. Early Sunday, members of the media were ordered to remain in the parking lot of the Ferguson Market or risk arrest.

The curfew, put in place by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, was designed to quell ongoing unrest in the St. Louis suburb since the fatal police shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old who was killed Aug. 9.

Crowds had dwindled significantly leading up to the curfew, but remaining protesters — chanting “No justice! No curfew!” — refused to leave the area.

Some stood with their hands up, the emblematic pose used by many protesters to characterize the position witness have said Brown had assumed when he was fatally shot.

“We ready. We ready. We ready for y’all, ” people chanted, while others screamed “We are Mike Brown.”

A number of people are calling on The President to send in the National Guard to protect protesters while others think this is a local matter.

Mammie Johnson Attended Mo’ne Davis’ LLWS Shutout Game

The early star at this year’s Little League World Series is Mo’ne Davis, the female pitcher who has starred on the mound in leading her team from south Philadelphia through Regionals into the final bracket.

While she has gotten plenty of attention on social media from some of the biggest names in sports — Mike Trout and Russell Wilson, to name just a few — her biggest fan may be none other than Mamie “Peanut” Johnson.

Johnson, 78, was the first female pitcher in the history of the Negro Leagues and said Friday upon attending Davis’ LLWS opener in Willliamsport, “It’s the greatest gift in God’s green earth to be here,” as she witnessed David fire a two-hit shutout in her team 4-0 win over a squad from Nashville.

Johnson pitched three seasons for the Indianapolis Clowns from 1953-55, even teaming for a time with Henry Aaron —€” when he was a young shortstop prospect and not baseball’s home-run king. Johnson was the first of three women to play in the Negro League, even sporting an impressive 33-8 career record on the mound and a .273 batting average.

Johnson, who at 5-foot-3 was dubbed “Peanut” from her playing days, says she is drawn to just how similar Davis seems to the Negro League pioneer. Johnson certainly dealt with plenty of obstacles growing up and playing baseball in pre-Civil Rights America, as she played on despite dealing with racial slurs from fans and never stayed in a “white” hotel.

The two star pitchers actually met a few years ago when Davis’ club team barnstormed in similar fashion to Johnson’s days, even in a 1947-style bus to pay homage to Jackie Robinson. Davis admitted afterward she had no idea Johnson would be in attendance Friday, saying “It’s amazing, I don’t know how else to describe it.”

Johnson and Davis finally met up a couple hours after the game, sharing hugs and smiles. “You have no idea how much this means to me,” Johnson said.

“This girl is the best thing since food.”

Mo’Ne Davis and Mamie “Peanut” Johnson are both heroes and inspirations we all need!
